The Black Suit of Death: Interview With Ben Kreger

Episode 47 - "Interview with Ben Kreger, co-creator of The Black Suit of Death", an independent comic book that we love.  Ben and his buddy Ed Ellsworth created The BSoD many years ago, and now their hip deep in severed heads.  Not real ones, but heads drawn with nearly a 3-D accuracy (by phenom Dexter Wee) in the newest issue of this comic; issue #2. This issue is being released first to those that backed it in Kickstarter (That would be me. You can again find my name in the comic on  BSoD's "Worthy List", so I'm keeping my head thank you).   Ben, Ed, and Dexter shared issue 2 with Chuck and I before anyone else so we could do this interview.  BUT the main reason we'r doing the interview?  The Kickstarter has begun for ISSUE 3 of BSoD.  Go to Kickstarter now and pledge to this creative project.   There have been 3 issues so far: The first one is like an issue #0, called "The Ides of March" Then there is Issue #1.  We interviewed Ben about that issue back in October 2016.  Go check it out, I re-listened, and actually thought we were funny. Issue 2 - is BSoD in action, the suit is switched to 11 and the scythe is cutting like a deli slicer. Issue 3 is in campaign mode, go to Kickstarter to find out more. Or go to fund.blacksuitofdeath.com and follow the easy steps to become cool like me. Gotta run!  Sorry for the quickly written notes here.  I'm going out to get ramen with Celeste right now.  I have a life, people! Your buddy, Geek Life Steve

Episode 40 - "The X-Massacre of Krampusnacht" - a holiday poem From the creators of the sometimes dark and often comedic comic book "The Black Suit of Death", comes this original holiday poem: WARRIOR INNKEEPER CREATIVE PROUDLY PRESENTS: "The X-Massacre of Krampusnacht"  A Poem for the Holidays  by E. R. Ellsworth & Benjamin J. Kreger Read it to the kids, tonight! ----------------------------------------------------------- Ben and Edward were nice enough to share this with us and wanted us to release it today, December 24th.  Look on my IG feed today for the written version, and the accompanying artwork by Jian Guo. I will probably make this an annual holiday tradition.  We look forward to having Edward and Benjamin back on our show in March 2018 to talk about the new BSoD comic book, art by Dexter Wee.   If you don't know who or what the Black Suit of Death is go to www.blacksuitofdeath.com or www.warriorinnkeeper.com. It's an amazing comic book that includes a lifetime of work from Ben Kreger and E.R. Ellsworth.  There are two issues so far, and another one is due early 2018. Do what I did; go to Kickstarter and find "The Black Suit of Death".  And contribute so you get the next issue delivered to your home. Happy Holidays from Chuck and I!  Thanks for listening to our podcast. We love our listeners and all the people that have helped us get where we are, all the people that participated in our show.  Thanks to Ashley from Kentucky for her awesome contributions and vocal stylings. Thanks to MissGeek89 for her perspective from across the pond. Thanks to the Friends of DeSoto. Whatever your faith or whatever you believe, you deserve happiness.  2018?  You got this.  What's life without challenges? Take them on as they come, because you will only be stronger for them.  Please visit Apple Podcasts (in iTunes) and give GLC a positive rating and review?  That would be a great gift to let us know you are one of the "prisoners" - a GLC hostage at heart. "The Black Suit of Death" - is an indie comic that deserves your attention.  This episode Chuck and Steve have a great time laughing and interviewing with Warrior Innkeeper Creative's: Benjamin Kreger, co-creator and writer of a very cool new indie comic book called "The Black Suit of Death", BSD for short.  The BSD was envisioned 20 years ago (by Ben and his friend Ed Ellsworth), and it's finally ready for it's (color) close-up.  Recently Ben and Ed completed a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund finalizing BSD#1.  They jam packed their book with fun background "easter eggs" and cool extras (including Fred Hembeck's "Li'l BSD" comic strip page!). Ben Kreger and Ed Ellsworth write this title together; it has humor, depth, and relatable characters.  Did I mention the art?  Amazing pencils and color work by Dexter Wee.  The guy's a pro. About Ben: He's a happily married guy, a dad (teaching the lessons of Star Wars and Star Trek to his kids), a proud veteran, and... he's a geek (or is it nerd?).  He followed his dream to succeed in the comic industry, and BSD is an achievement long in the making.    About the actual Black Suit: It's an extraterrestrial biomechanical killing machine (that you wear), and it is probably the very article which originated our myth of The Grim Reaper.  It reveals itself to a distraught college student named Edd Grimes. Oh, and it comes with a requisite kick-ass scythe.  Will Edd use the BSD for good or something darker?  Can Edd rely on his friends to temper darker inclinations?  Will Mr. Lutz meet an untimely end?  And how does Jar-Jar Binks tie into all this?  Get behind this indie comic to find out.  Go find his page on Kickstarter, go visit his webpage (below), or at least "like" Black Suit of Death on Facebook until you're hooked.  Then tell your local comic shop owner.  To converse with Ben and Ed On Twitter: @BlkSuitofDeath (Ed tweets in character) @WarriorInnkeepr (Ben tweets as Ben) On Facebook:  Black Suit Of Death and Warrior Innkeeper Creative Website: www.warriorinnkeeper.com www.warriorinnkeeper.com/shop (Go to the shop listed above to buy "Ides of March", the prequel comic to BSD#1) Find Dexter Wee on Instagram.  I did. Did you read what I wrote?  These guys got Fred Hembeck to do original artwork for their book!  Visit www.hembeck.com because Fred Hembeck is awesome.  Always has been. Believe it or not, I think you will enjoy this interview.  Thank you for supporting Geek Life Crisis.  @geeklifesteve @geeklifechuck @geeklifecrisis On Facebook: Geek Life Crisis www.geeklifecrisis On instagram: geeklifesteve geeklifesteve@gmail.com Can we interview you? Please go to iTunes and give us 5 star review!  We're two guys trying to "make our own thing".  We appreciate all support!  Thank you.
