Just in "thyme" for St. Patrick's day, on this episode of Muggle with a Mic Kaiti is joined by Taylor to discuss the Irish film Wild Mountain Thyme. This episode is filled with fun trivia about the Emerald Isle and we discover if Taylor or Kaiti have any Irish heritage. The two also have a bonny conversation about their thoughts and take on the film starring Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan which was adapted from a 2014 Broadway play. So, sit back, pour a pint of Guinness and press your luck with this episode of Muggle with a Mic! P.s. - While composing this synopsis we discovered the passing of Jamie Dornan's father, Dr. Jim Dornan, due to Covid-19 at the age of 73. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal." There's some construction going on in downtown St. John's right now, but the store owners want you to know, they are open for business. This got me to thinking about the stores that have been downtown for quite a while, and one of those stores is NONIA. You may know NONIA as just a store that sells beautiful handmade sweaters, but there's actually a rich history behind it. Too often, the Lord’s promise in Matthew 7:7, that those who ask will receive, and those who seek will find, is reframed by a consumer mindset, as though prayer is the adult version of writing a letter to Santa Claus. But if we hear this verse in the context of Matthew, we’re stuck with a different reality: God’s will is immutable and dominant, he already knows what we need, and we are not allowed to ask for stuff when we pray. So why and what are we suddenly asking for and seeking in verse 7? In a gospel that began with an overview of the Old Testament and a crash course in biblical Hebrew, Matthew is challenging us: whatever we need is already available in Scripture—so ask the Torah and seek its pages. Everything you need will be provided. Richard and Fr. Marc discuss Matthew 7:7-12.
