This week Clint takes us on a train ride while we discuss MGP's Eight and Sand - a blended bourbon out of Lawrenceburg Indiana. Did you know that blended whiskey only needs to be 20% straight whiskey and 80% whatever else you want? Also we discuss the merits of ketchup, apparently it is a crime to put ketchup on a cheeseburger. Jon wraps up by cooking some taquitos, but is going to dip them in ketchup, he may actually be a criminal or a monster. - Pat --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/smellmywhiskey/support

You may have heard of a new breakfast and lunch spot that opened up in South End recently. They have an impressive coffee lineup, amazing outdoor patio and extensive tap beer selection. Their food is locally sourced and the bread is all made on-site. The founder, Grant Aarons, gave the Urban MVMNT crew a full tour of their new location and sat down to explain how a guy who got his reputation for his amazing pizza restaurant (Inizio Pizza for example), found his way into this new concept. https://eightandsandkitchen.com/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sweatlocalclt/message

After a short break we continued our conversation with Kristen Wilson from Eight & Sand and Lori White of Zed's Brewing. We get more depth about the Pink Boots Society and the role that they play to help women get more involved in brewing. These women were great guests, who really know their stuff when it comes to beer. Make sure that you stop by their establishments to talk with them.
This week's guests are Co-Owner Chris Mazzone and Tasting Room Supervisor Kristen Wilson of Eight & Sand Beer Company located in Woodbury, NJ. The brewery has enjoyed great success since opening including winning a Silver Medal at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival for "Bad Hombre" and being in the USA Today's Top Ten for the best new brewery in the US! Kristen and Chris also introduced us to a few of their new releases including "Nevertheless She Brewsisted", a beer that Kristen and the ladies of Eight & Sand brewed for National Women's Day. We also talk awards, building a sustainable and environmentally friendly brewery, and much more! Thanks for listening and please leave us a rating or write a review on iTunes! Cheers!
The phrase "Eight & Sand" was used to wish train crews a quick and safe journey. Today, in Woodbury NJ the name Eight & Sand is being used to talk about award winning beer.

What happens when two fashion outsiders with zero industry experience start a women's apparel company? Most would crash and burn. But for the two women on the show today, outsider status was actually a gift that helped them see new ways to produce clothing and an entirely different perspective on profit margins. Meet this week's guests, Noushie Mirabedi and Ronda Raymond, co-founders of Eight + Sand. As a self-described public health nerd and a legal technology specialist, Noushie and Ronda could have balked at their own lack of experience when they set out to create clothing that they - and women they know - were dying to wear, but struggled to find: classic silhouettes that weren't overly feminine with well-made, long-lasting construction. Think go-to items like tees and button-downs, hoodies and one rad pair of seersucker lounge PJs. Instead, they accepted that they didn't know what they didn't know, and they did the next best thing: they asked everyone they could possibly find to sit down and talk to them about the fashion business. That led this pair of partners in business and in life to discover their own path, one that meant thinking different about fashion industry profit margins. By rethinking long-held beliefs about how to run a successful fashion brand, they are able to make the kind of clothing they want to sell their customers using the slow fashion methods they believe in and still walk away with a business.
