It's too early for March Madness, but just in time for the bastards to wrap up their survey of the New York Times' Top Ten list of 2025 jazz albums. Some of the choices give the boys mixed emotions and some barely any emotions at all, but at the end of this journey we can all say one thing for certain- that sure was definitely ten albums of jazz. Pop matters stretches to include a discussion of a life-enhancing live set from Indianapolis mainstay Steve Allee. Billy Hart – JUST; Jacob Garchik - Ye Olde 2: At the End of Time; Kassa Overall - CREAM; Joe Farnsworth – THE BIG ROOM.

Behavioural economics can explain an awful lot about how governments, media and businesses can manipulate your day-to-day choices and habitual thinking to their advantage (and your disadvantage!). This new special by your friendly neighbourhood economists Pete and Gav lifts the lid on common heuristics and biases (aka "rules of thumb" or "mental shortcuts") that influence your thinking and ultimately our world. Whether it's getting you to spend more than you intend to in the shops or being caught up in a Ponzi scheme (or buying an NFT - remember them?) because someone famous and/or beautiful told you to do so - this is a top ten of behavioural economics that may help you catch yourself in time before you take an unfortunate and potentially expensive plunge. Guided by our insights you won't get caught out again or at least recognise when you need to slow down your thinking to improve your decision-making. Enjoy Pete and Gav living their dreams of being Top of the Pops DJs as they run down their Top Ten! Technical support comes from Nic, our very own Mark Ronson.
The crew predict when Coco's baby will arrive and react to Bleacher Reports top 100 QB list. Who did they put too high and too low?

If you could write a “top 10” list of rules for governing human behavior, what would you include? Many have offered their suggestions: Ted Turner's list included a pledge of allegiance to the United Nations and a limit of 2 children per couple, to ration the planet's resources. George Carlin reduced his list to just three commandments: “Thou shalt always be honest and faithful; Thou shalt try really hard not to kill anyone; and Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself”. Atheist apologist Christopher Hitchens' list culminated in the command to “Renounce any god”! But try as we may to reshape morality, to “be a law unto ourselves”, there is only one Law and one Lawgiver: the Lord God. And He has not left us in the dark about how we ought to live. In this sermon, we examine God's “Top Ten” list together from Deuteronomy 5:1-21.

Send a textThis week on Nerdery and Murdery, we take a sharp turn into the strange, the unsettling, and the unexpectedly human. On the Nerdery side, Zig continues the Doctor Who journey with The 13th Doctor, portrayed by Jodie Whittaker breaking new ground for the Doctor and sparking plenty of debate along the way. What worked, what didn't, and why this era still matters. Then on the Murdery side, Geoffrey counts down his Top Ten Weird or Strange Murders. Cases so bizarre they sound fictional…but absolutely aren't. From decapitation love triangles and killer clowns to cannibalism by consent, locked-room hotel deaths, ritual panic, and Cold War assassinations, this list goes far beyond the usual true-crime fare.Inspired by a tip from Mike Shanks of 2 Geeks and a Microphone, this episode dives headfirst into the rabbit hole examining not just the crimes, but the unsettling circumstances that make them linger in your mind.Dark.
