ComicsPro, the comic shop retailer network, held its annual meeting last week in Los Angeles. Many of the publishers used the opportunity to showcase new projects and announcements. DC led the way with some absolute - or should we say ABSOLUTE - book news that has everyone ready for more.  Speaking of DC Comics, does the publisher have a flagship team book right now? The latest film from the writer and director Clint Bentley, “Train Dreams,” is nominated for four Oscars, including best adapted screenplay. The movie is based on Denis Johnson's 2011 novella of the same name and tells the story of Robert Grainier, a logger in the Pacific Northwest, in stream-of-consciousness, nonlinear prose. This week, Gilbert Cruz talks with Bentley, who wrote the screenplay with Greg Kwedar, his longtime collaborator, about how he went about translating Johnson's work into a visual medium. Bentley first read “Train Dreams” just after college, long before he ever thought of making it into a movie. When producers with rights to the book approached Bentley, he was suddenly worried. “Going back and reading the book again,” Bentley said, “I was like, Oh, maybe this thing is unadaptable.” Set on capturing the spirit of the book, Bentley and Kwedar focused on “the vastness of this small little life,” he said. “We very rarely have an understanding of our lives in the moment we're actually living them,” Bentley said. “We only start to understand them when it's too late.” Subscribe today at nytimes.com/podcasts or on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. It's Marvel Monday and it's finally time to watch the first Avengers movie! ABOUT THE AVENGERS Earth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity. They have no idea why, so they're trying to get everyone out. Nick Fury comes in to talk to the scientist and catch up with Clint Barton, aka Hawk Eye, who he's stationed in the corner of the factory just to keep an eye on things. Suddenly, a laser shoots out and opens up a portal. Loki comes walking out. They tell him to stop and he starts shooting stuff. He pulls Clint under a spell to help him steal the Tesseract. Nick Fury decides it's time for operation Avengers. So he calls Agent Natasha Romanoff to travel to recruit Dr. Bruce Banner. No one knows gamma radiation like Bruce and that's the key to tracking the Tesseract down. SHIELD gets to work on getting Steve Rogers & Tony Stark on board. Loki is mad Thor is king, so he is working with this thing called "The Other" who just wants a bunch of worlds. Loki agrees to help get him the Tesseract which will help him take over worlds and then he'll give Loki Earth. So Loki goes to Germany so that Clint can steal stuff needed to stabilize the Tesseract. The Avengers show up and Loki surrenders. Movie over. Jk. Thor arrives and frees him, hoping to convince him to abandon his plan and return to Asgard. Stark and Rogers find them again and Loki is imprisoned in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s flying base. The Avengers argue about how to best handle the Loki situation especially after finding out that their plans for the Tesseract aren't to use it for good. They talk to Fury about it and he tells them they're making weapons to use against aliens. Needless to say, the Avengers are not doing well. They don't like each other. They argue about everything. And they're being attacked by Loki's baddies, including Clint. This attack makes Bruce very angry and he turns into the Hulk. He chases after Natasha and hits her. Before he can do more damage, Thor shows up. Unfortunately, Loki ends up getting away & sending Thor falling to what might be his death. Loki then escapes after stabbing Agent Coulson. Fury uses Coulson's death to motivate the Avengers to work together as a team. Loki uses the Tesseract to open a portal above Stark Tower in New York City, allowing his baddies to attack. The Avengers, as they now call themselves, work together to protect New York. The Hulk knocks Loki out while Black Widow finds out that Loki's scepter can shut down the Tesseract. Fury's bosses don't trust the Avengers, so they shoot a missile at New York City. So Iron Man flies to intercept the missile and flies it toward the wormhole. Right when he pushes it through, Black Widow closes the wormhole but Stark is unconscious. The Hulk catches him and the Avengers wake him up. I recently spoke with Clint Butcher, the founder of EZ Gains, a company that has quickly grown into one of the most respected names in triathlon aerodynamics components in just a few short years. What makes Clint's story compelling isn't just the products,  it's how the business began. EZ Gains started in the front room of Clint's home. No factory. No investors. Just an idea, a willingness to experiment, and long evenings spent hand-making rear wheel disc covers alongside his daughter.What began as a simple, practical solution for athletes chasing marginal gains gradually evolved into something far more significant. Through persistence, curiosity, and a refusal to follow the easy or conventional path, EZ Gains grew into a company now supplying aerodynamic components and bottle carriers to some of the best triathletes in the world. That growth didn't come without risk. Like most genuine entrepreneurial journeys, it involved uncertainty, setbacks, and moments where walking away would have been the safer option. Instead, Clint chose to commit. He backed his belief in the product, trusted the process, and kept building, even when conditions were far from ideal. That willingness to act under uncertainty, to continue despite adversity, is the hallmark of true entrepreneurship. EZ Gains is a reminder that innovation in sport doesn't always come from big budgets or established brands. Sometimes it comes from a living room, a shared belief, and the courage to take a gamble on an idea worth pursuing. This is what building something meaningful looks like, not overnight success, but earned progress shaped by conviction, resilience, and a relentless commitment to doing things properly.

Andrea Canning sits down with Keith Morrison to discuss his original podcast series, "The Girl in the Blue Mustang." After 18-year-old Michelle O'Keefe was found murdered in a California park-and-ride in 2000. In 2009 --  after two juries deadlocked -- security guard Raymond Lee Jennings was convicted of her murder at a third trial. But everything changed in 2015 when a Dateline viewer saw the story and vowed to prove Jennings's innocence. The conviction was overturned by a judge and Jennings was released after more than a decade in prison. Keith tells Andrea what it was like covering this story for decades, both in and out of the courtroom. Later, they talk about other stories they've done involving multiple trials. Plus, Keith shares two exclusive clips: one from his interview with that curious Dateline watcher, Clint Ehrlich, and another with the man Clint helped get exonerated. Have a question for Talking Dateline?
