Auf der spektakulär erfolgreichen Buchmesse „Seitenwechsel“, die am 8. und 9. November in Halle an der Saale stattfand, gab es „viel Licht“. Dies sagte die Organisatorin Susanne Dagen. Auch hier soll etwas Licht gebracht werden in die dunklen Machenschaften der Feinde der Freiheit, die in den vergangenen Jahren dafür gesorgt haben, dass sich unser Blickwinkel mehr und mehr verschoben hat. Die Buchmessen in Frankfurt am Main und Leipzig hatten den Korridor des Sagbaren so weit verengt, dass eine freie Messe geradezu notwendig geworden war. Sie geriet dann auch zu einem fröhlichen Fest und atmete den Geist der Freiheit, wie ihn die anderen Messen früher gehabt hatten. Susanne Dagen, die gut geschlafen hatte, und glücklich und erleichtert wirkte, hat bereits eine Nachfolge-Messe angekündigt. Vielleicht war der „Seitenwechsel“ wirklich, wie viele meinen, ein „Dammbruch“.

Balloonfest '86 was a fundraising event in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, held on September 27, 1986, in which the local chapter of United Way set a world record by releasing almost 1.5 million balloons.[2] The event was intended to be a harmless publicity stunt. However, the released balloons drifted back over the city and Lake Erie and landed in the surrounding area, causing problems for traffic and a nearby airport. In consequence, the organizers faced lawsuits seeking millions of dollars in damages,[1] and cost overruns put the event at a net loss.[3]
