What do you wish I asked this guest? What was your "quotable moment" from this episode? Ten years of spark, craft, and community converge in Arlington, Texas. I sat down with Kacie from Kacie's Corner to share everything you need to know about the 10th annual DFW Pagan Unity Fest. From a full day of vendors and hands-on learning to a public Yule ritual and a charity raffle for the North Texas Food Bank, this milestone gathering shows how modern pagan community thrives when service, celebration, and storytelling come together. We walk through the schedule so you can plan your day: a free festival on Saturday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 2001 California Lane on the UU church grounds. Expect returning favorites and new artisans, including holistic healers and regional artists, plus the final appearance of a beloved vendor, Venus 6 Gallery. Classes in the Grove run 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., opening with Harvest in Gratitude by Jennifer Culver and closing with Kacie's Webs of Community workshop focused on building real, resilient connections. At 3 p.m., Jormungandholl DFW leads a community Yule ritual right in Vendors Village, bringing intention and warmth to the heart of the fest.We also spotlight the annual raffle that turns shared excitement into direct impact. Vendors donate prizes, we're adding a spell box to the pool, and every ticket supports the North Texas Food Bank, which serves both the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area and surrounding rural communities. You'll also hear about the new Community Corner co-sponsored by Kacie's Corner and Your Average Witch, where you can drop in, make simple crafts, and meet people without pressure. If you're local, this is your invitation to experience the region's largest pagan community day firsthand; if you're visiting, it's a welcoming entry point into DFW's vibrant scene.Join us for the details, stay for the heart, and bring a friend. Wes Craven's 1984 horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street introduced Freddy Krueger, a dream-stalking slasher who kills teens in their sleep—kills that become real—and was inspired by a chilling true epidemic of Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome (SUNDS) among Southeast Asian refugees in the late 1970s–80s. A young Cambodian survivor of the Khmer Rouge genocide (1975–79, ~2 million dead) resettled in the U.S., tormented by nightmares of being chased, resisted sleep for days, then died mysteriously in bed with no autopsy findings; the CDC documented over 100 similar cases of healthy young Hmong, Laotian, and Cambodian men dying overnight. Locally explained via folklore—like the Philippine batibat hag or Thai widow ghost suffocating victims—these deaths were later linked to Brugada syndrome, a genetic heart arrhythmia triggered by stress, heavy meals, or PTSD, though the "hundred years' enigma" remains unsolved, blending real trauma with cinematic terror. On this week's episode CB & Kip sit down to talk about their upcoming challenge. The annual fundraister, High West Oyster Fest is this Thursday, benefiting local nonprofit Sophie's Neighborhood.... and we're getting our hands n mouths dirty in the name of a good cause. We're competing, both shucking oysters and trying to knock em back!! But no matter how well (or poorly) we perform, at least we'll be doing it for a good cause. To learn more about the good cause, Kip sat down with Lauren & Hosea Rosenberg, Sophie's parents, to talk about Sophie's Neighborhood. Sophie's Neighborhood is a nonprofit that raises money to help fund research for their daughter's rare disease, MCOT. It's tough trying to find the definition of the acronym & even more difficult to find a cause or cure. We talk with Lauren & Hosea about the diagnosis as well as the festivities on Thursday too.Tune in for a few laughs, a little Halloween banter & whole lot of ways you can help out Sophie's Neighborhood. We hope to see everyone Thursday for a good time for a great cause! Join us for a chat with Canadian emo-revival band Arms Length immediately following their set at the When We Were Young festival. We dive into what makes the band so inherently "emo," which they attribute to their "northern sadness" and the isolation of their Canadian upbringing. Despite living comfortable lives, their music channels the feelings of mental illness and translates it into a sound reminiscent of early 2000s bands. The band discusses the process of writing their latest, highly anticipated album, described by the hosts as "the most devastating album I've ever listened to". They reveal that the writing process was surprisingly therapeutic and fun , taking a few years to process life events and allowing the lyrics to be fully realized. We also get a look at their nerves and excitement for playing a major nostalgia festival like WWWY and their upcoming tour with Hot Mulligan and Drug Church, which they are taking extremely seriously. ONE HOT FEST – ADELAIDE FILM FESTIVAL is a special mini-series from One Heat Minute Productions, diving into Australia's most charismatic celebration of cinema. Host Blake Howard takes you inside the Adelaide Film Festival — from filmmaker interviews and festival dispatches to reviews and discussions with guests and critics — relaying the energy, stories, and spirit that make it one of Australia's most electric film events.Synopsis:Renowned Emmy Award-winning Australian artist/filmmaker Lynette Wallworth (Tender, AFF 2013) died and was revived when she was 11. This has given her a fascination with death, the last great frontier in human life. We all know our lives will end, and yet - in the Western world at least - we act as if death is a mirage, disappearing the closer we move towards it. Melbourne palliative care specialists, Drs Marg Ross and Justin Dwyer provide Wallworth with a perfect opportunity to explore ways that we might approach death with a sense of calmness, and yes, even joy, by treating terminally ill patients with psychedelic drugs, so that their relationship to death is fundamentally altered.Psilocybin is not new; it comes from ancient traditions. When the doctors journey to the Amazon to experience traditional medicines, they are confronted by the realisation that the world's oldest cultures have something important to reveal, not just about medicine, but about death itself. One Heat Minute ProductionsWEBSITE: oneheatminute.comTWITTER: @OneBlakeMinute & @OHMPodsMERCH: https://www.teepublic.com/en-au/stores/one-heat-minute-productionsSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/one-heat-minute-productions/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Additionally, they share humorous anecdotes about local culture, including the infamous barbecue wars in North Carolina.Power chords and crashing boards. Mikey, Tom, and Justin talk music, hockey, and anything else that gets in their way. Tom and Mikey are lifelong friends that grew up on Long Island during the glory days of alternative music where our local bands were As Tall As Lions, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Bayside, The Sleeping, Envy on the Coast, you get the point. We spent many nights together at The Downtown, catching any pop-punk, indie, hardcore, or emo band that came through. This was not a phase, Mom! Fast forward 20 years and we are still just as passionate about the scene as we were during our girl jeans and youth XL band tees days. Tom and Mikey are diehard New York Islanders fans, but Justin (Bolts fan) likes to remind us that we are #notanislespodcast. As we got older we realized we can like more than one thing and running beside our love for music has always been our love for hockey. We have realized we are not alone in this thinking, actually there are many of us that love these two things! This podcast explores just how connected they are!NEW EPISODE EVERY TUESDAY!
