It's official. Beer festival season is in full swing. We're seeing new beers and new collaborations at every turn. What's even better is that we're seeing new breweries come to life, too. And in London last week, the capital's latest brewing business sprung into life. So say hello to South London's Palindrome Brew Co. Founded by Paul McTernan and Alin Sas, they're on a mission to make their mark with a community-focused brewery that puts hazy, hop-forward beers at the fore. But that's not to say you shouldn't expect other styles, too. Combining Paul's wealth of sales experience working for companies such as Verdant with Alin's deep knowledge of the industry, they've also enlisted Shawn Vail. Shawn is a graduate of the Siebel Institute of Technology. Moving over from the USA, he has previously worked for Stone Brewing Co among others, too.And last Saturday the team made their festival debut at Drop Project's excellent Friend's Fest, pouring their maiden IPA and DIPA releases. So what better time to catch up with one of the UK's most exciting new outfits. In this episode we speak with Paul to learn about how Palindrome came to be. Why leaving his dream job at Verdant was a step he needed to take and the brewery's focus on kegged output. We also discuss how Shawn's brewing prowess is already paying dividends and why figures such as Elusive Brewing's Andy Parker played a key role in setting Paul on his own path in beer. It seems that Mike Reed's musical journey has been supported and surrounded by family from the very beginning -- whether his dad was building a stage, his uncle was installing a lighting rig, or having his brother Ben Reed at his side through Small Brown Bike, Able Baker Fox or their latest project, 84 Tigers. On this week's show, Mike details the DIY efforts -- usually involving similar DNA -- that it's taken over the years to steer his musical vision. Plus, ahead of a 25th anniversary performance of their landmark album Dead Reckoning at this year's Fest 24, why reuniting Small Brown Bike without guitarist Travis Dopp (who passed away in 2023) wasn't originally an easy place to get to. Visit thefestfl.com for tickets, and hear 84 Tigers' new album Nothing Ends wherever you stream music. Find it on vinyl from either spartanrecords.com or 84tigersband.com.

Chris Chavez and Kyle Merber close out Memorial Day weekend with a debrief on the Enhanced Games, a quick Xiamen Diamond League recap, and a full LA Track Fest breakdown.Discussed in this episode:– Enhanced Games debrief: It's not track and field, it's not a competitor to the sport, and last night was actually a best-case scenario for Enhanced Games skeptics because no athlete watching thought, “I should take drugs, look how well it worked.”– Xiamen Diamond League: Masai Russell's 12.14 was the race of the meet. Broke her own American record and missed Tobi Amusan's world record of 12.12 by two hundredths; Collen Kebinatshipi running 43.92 for a world lead, now reportedly holding world leads in both the 100m and 400m simultaneously; Alison dos Santos is in arguably the best early-season form of his career; Abby Caldwell wins the women's 1500 again in 3:57, making Australian Commonwealth Games selection very complicated; Yan Ziyi throws 71.74 in the javelin on her 18th birthday.– LA Track Fest: Parker Valby returns with her first race on the outdoor track in 19 months, winning the 5K in a 14:49 personal best; Brandon Miller wins the 800m over a stacked field, but Josh Kerr gave us data on where he's at eight weeks out from his London mile world record attempt; Cooper Lutkenhaus runs his first 1500m at 17 years old and goes 3:45 + more results from LA.– This weekend: Bislett Games (Continental Tour), Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, and the Bandit Grand Prix at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York City on Saturday.____________Hosts: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez + Kyle Merber | @kylemerberProduced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSXENDURANCE: Xendurance Protein is designed specifically to help your body recover, rebuild, and get stronger after training. Hey Bikers drop us a line and lets us know how we are doing! In this episode Big E talks a little about blessing fest and his new favorite piece of riding gear.
At Data Makers Fest, a recurring theme was the tension between GenAI hype and production reality. Speakers stressed that classical ML, MLOps, evaluation, data quality, and governance remain essential—especially in regulated sectors like fintech and healthcare. Another strong theme was inclusivity: building AI that serves smaller languages, diverse communities, and practitioners beyond the English-centric ecosystem.Ryan Chaves. Head of ML at a Dutch fintech, Ryan focused on the gap between AI demos and production systems. He argued that classical ML remains critical for fraud detection and risk scoring, while GenAI works best as an accelerator on top of existing systems. He also emphasized storytelling, stakeholder communication, and mentorship as core engineering skills.Alp Öktem. Computational linguist and researcher Alp explored the imbalance between AI progress in English and low-resource languages. Through Mozilla Data Collective, he highlighted how open datasets, speech corpora, and synthetic data can expand AI access to underrepresented communities. His broader warning: fluent AI can still fail culturally, linguistically, and ethically.Agnieszka Kamińska. Working in pharmaceutical ML engineering, Agnieszka discussed extracting scientific knowledge from research documents into knowledge graphs. Her focus was reliability: LLMs help with entity extraction and relationship discovery, but trustworthy systems still require ontologies, validation layers, and production-minded engineering. She advocated a pragmatic middle ground between AI hype and skepticism.Nemanja Radojković. An MLOps engineer in finance, Nemanja reflected on how GenAI is changing software engineering itself. He argued that coding assistants improve productivity but risk weakening engineers' understanding if overused. His central point: governance, reproducibility, and platform engineering will become even more important as organizations deploy AI agents at scale.Filipa Castro. Leading AI initiatives at Euronext, Filipa described how GenAI is integrated into regulated financial workflows. Her team uses LLMs to automate document-heavy operational processes while preserving human validation. Her broader message: successful enterprise AI depends less on flashy models and more on infrastructure foundations like CI/CD, monitoring, governance, and operational rigor.Beatriz Silva. As a student volunteer pursuing a master's in data science, Beatriz represented the conference's educational and community dimension. For her, the event was about access—networking with companies, exploring thesis opportunities, and connecting academic learning with industry practice. Her perspective highlighted how conferences like Data Makers Fest help shape the next generation of AI practitioners.Connect with speakers: Ryan Chaves. Starlight Thursdays Episode 317. Welcome Sketchy House to the show! This week's mix comes straight off the snowcat. We caught Sketchy House live on the Disco Carrot at Blimp Fest, and the set was too good not to share. Pure energy from start to finish, recorded in the open air with the crowd right there. I met Sketchy House 11 years ago while i was DJing in a Yurt next to Blodgett canyon. It was my first time DJing in Montana. I was out here couch surfing, learning how to back country ski, him and his brother rolled up to the DJ booth and asked if they could jump on the decks. I think he was like 12 years old to be honest and i was a little taken back. They assured me they knew what they were doing. The party was chill vibes and I didn't think there was much harm in taking a chance sharing the stage so I agreed. The two of them ripped it up! I mean he was finger drumming samples while the other was mixing tracks then they'd switch. I was floored! People on the dance floor were matching the energy, really throwing down, hands in the air and yelling their names! I'll never forget it. Sketchy House is a prime example of how a kid from the Bitterroot can shake a party up if you give him the chance. It doesn't matter where you're from or how old you are if you have an ear for mixing, a love for music, with some training on the decks you can move people and Sketchy House is living proof of that! -BK Love_ Starlight Thursdays keeps us moving every week, With fresh artists, Exclusive recordings from the top venues and festivals statewide. This is Montanas largest collection of underground DJ Mixes. Hit play, turn it up, and pass it on. You can stream this show on SoundCloud, YouTube, YouTube music and Apple Podcasts (ad free and free downloading for offline listening) Let us handle the airwaves on your next road trip, workout or living room dance party! Starlight Thursdays pairs well with sunrises, all phases of the moon, sunsets, hot or cold days, lonely nights, mixed drinks and pizza. Most listeners experience euphoria, nostalgia and sudden urge to move their bodies to the repetitive kick drum often found in these recordings. Starlight Reunion and its supporting DJs wont be held responsible for moving your body however this side FX will likely occur when listening to Starlight Thursdays an if dat happens just know you ain't alone cuz we is doing dis too, even if I ain't right next to ya I'm likely bustin a move to deez beats yo. Some say i have an addiction to this while others know that to be the truth. Meet me at the next beat lovers anonymous sesh, first step is half the battle, lost track after that….
Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Small-Cap Spotlight, Dr. Siyu Huang, Founder and CEO of Factorial Energy, joins host Tim Gerdeman and WTR analyst Eric Goldstein to discuss why solid-state batteries are finally crossing from lab to road. The conversation covers Factorial's two platforms — FEST® for drones and defense, Solstice for robotics and energy storage — joint development agreements with strategic partners including Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, Hyundai, and Kia, a strategic investment from IQT, the venture arm of the U.S. national security community, and why defense and drone markets may generate revenue well ahead of the automotive ramp. Dr. Huang also explains the company's capital-light business model and how it plans to scale without building its own gigafactories.

This week, Appalachian Dungeon Fest spotlights the fantastical music of dungeon synth. Also, every year, the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival stages a formal dance. Organizers rely on a manual that's been passed down for generations. And, small dairy farms are closing across the country. Central Appalachia has been hit hard. You'll hear these stories and more this week, Inside Appalachia.
Today's episode of The Rizzuto Show somehow starts with Point Fest prep and immediately spirals into backyard snake warfare, accidental public humiliation, mysterious old-person injuries, and one of the most aggressively cursed philosophical questions we've ever discussed on this daily comedy show.Lern nearly sacrificed herself to save her indoor cat from a giant backyard snake while fully committed to the “reading Vogue magazines outside with no clothes on” lifestyle. The result? Her chest now looks like Freddy Krueger signed it after a rough night in Ellisville. Meanwhile, Rizz debates whether friendship includes letting people sleep at your house during Point Fest weekend, and honestly… the answer may legally classify him as emotionally unavailable. We also uncover what may be the dumbest Internet trend in human history: “ball maxing.” Yes, apparently some dudes are injecting saline into their anatomy to achieve “grapefruit aesthetics.” Because therapy was simply too obvious. The gang dives deep into body dysmorphia, masculinity, medical horror stories, and why nobody — literally nobody — is spending as much time thinking about your balls as you are.Rafe contributes nightmare fuel with stories about phantom testicular pain, forgotten Q-tips in public, and somehow manages to make all of us afraid of our own nervous systems. King Scott attempts solutions involving decorative ball coverings, which somehow only makes the conversation worse. Honestly, this episode should probably be studied by scientists trying to understand societal collapse. Then things somehow get philosophical. The crew tackles “The Red Button vs Blue Button Dilemma,” where humanity must secretly choose between saving everyone or guaranteeing their own survival. Turns out trust issues may be the defining feature of modern civilization. Some of us chose hope. Some chose survival. Some chose chaos. And one of us may absolutely be the reason civilization collapses. Also discussed:Point Fest hotel insanityWhy old people aggressively wait outside restaurants at 11AMSkinny dipping with coworkersNaked Guitar HeroButthole lightning support groupsPublic shirt failuresWhy frying bacon naked is apparently a universal warningWhy snakes in West County probably own Stanley CupsThe emotional damage caused by humanity itselfIf you like your daily comedy show with equal parts existential dread, stupid Internet trends, accidental oversharing, and deeply unnecessary anatomy discussions, congratulations — you found your people. This episode of The Rizzuto Show is everything a daily comedy show should be: chaotic, hilarious, mildly concerning, and somehow weirdly therapeutic.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Somehow this episode starts with Point Fest excitement and ends with Edward Furlong becoming a Japanese pop star… and honestly? That tracks for this show. The gang gears up for Point Fest with ticket giveaways, meet-and-greet plans, and what may become the worst idea in festival history: Rafe conducting porta potty interviews by sliding microphones under stall doors like a sewer goblin with broadcasting credentials. If you're attending Point Fest, congratulations — your bathroom anxiety just became part of the entertainment package. Then the crew dives headfirst into A&E's newest chaotic masterpiece: Squatters. Meet Flash Shelton — a real-life “professional squatter remover” who reclaims homes by becoming even more annoying than the people illegally living there. We're talking pet snakes, buckets of crickets, couch invasions, and psychological warfare that somehow got turned into prestige television. Honestly, this funny podcast may have found its spiritual successor. The show also breaks down St. Louis' giant July 4th celebration featuring Ludacris, Miranda Lambert, Zedd, Stephen Marley, and the one true king of soundtrack glory: Kenny freakin' Loggins. The crew debates whether Ludacris should censor his songs for families, whether America deserves a four-day weekend for turning 250, and why Moon is probably already camping out for Loggins. In music news, Lern unleashes opinions on the new Foo Fighters Tiny Desk performance, MGK's latest attempt at musical identity discovery, and Gene Simmons' massive Las Vegas rock expo that sounds like Comic-Con for dads with leather vests and tinnitus. And then… things get weird.Rafe introduces the room to a long-lost relic from the early '90s: Edward Furlong's Japanese pop music career. Yes, John Connor from Terminator 2 recorded an actual album. Yes, there's a music video. Yes, it's horrifying. And yes, everyone's childhood gets damaged in real time. The crew also talks:Christopher Nolan's upcoming Odyssey movie dramaElon Musk being Elon MuskWhy True Detective Season 1 still rulesDisney's massive TV announcementsMorgan Wallen birthdaysGooey-faced adult film titles that should've stayed buried foreverBasically, it's another completely normal day for your favorite daily comedy show. If you came for structure and professionalism, you have aggressively chosen the wrong program.Listen now to the daily comedy show that somehow makes celebrity gossip, porta potties, and patriotic Kenny Loggins discourse feel educational.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Point Fest is almost here, and the crew is fully locked into concert-season chaos. The gang talks meet-and-greets, side stages, local bands, and the Road to Point Fest competition — including an accidental on-air mix-up that somehow made things even more Rizz Show-y. Trevor May & The Nomads get some love, Sideshow gets their rightful victory lap, and everyone agrees Highland, Illinois may secretly be manufacturing musicians in a lab somewhere. Then things take a surprisingly philosophical turn when the show debates whether adults are actually cooler now than they were in high school. What starts as a simple question becomes a full therapy session involving acne glow-ups, fake confidence, bus-seat politics, floating between social groups, and why being a jerk in high school somehow counted as “cool.” Rafe drops accidental wisdom, Lern gets deep about authenticity, and King Scott proudly explains that he still doesn't get invited to parties… but now at least he hears about them. Growth. Beautiful growth. The conversation somehow escalates into midlife-crisis accusations after truck purchases, homeowner flexes, and dangling accessories become evidence in the court of Cool Dad Law. Which honestly makes this the exact kind of daily podcast people come here for: emotionally unstable grown adults trying to justify their hobbies while roasting each other into dust. That's friendship, baby.In Crap on Celebrities, the gang covers Tool reportedly being approached before U2 for the Las Vegas Sphere, celebrity “Game of Thrones politics,” and why Tool fans may need to start saving money immediately. There's also Amazon TV announcements, Fallout casting news, Reacher updates, and an absolutely brutal listen to Vince Neil performing on American Idol alongside Carrie Underwood. Nobody survives that audio clip emotionally. Nobody. The crew also dives into celebrity jail history including Martha Stewart, Robert Downey Jr., Tim Allen, Lindsay Lohan, Khloe Kardashian, Wesley Snipes, Mark Wahlberg, and Matthew McConaughey's legendary naked bongos incident. Which somehow becomes one of the most relatable celebrity stories discussed all morning. That sentence alone should tell you exactly what kind of daily podcast this is.And because this show refuses to stay on topic for more than six seconds, the episode closes with an unexpected Steve Winwood appreciation session complete with singalongs, nostalgia, and the now-unforgettable lyric: “Bake me a pie of love.” Sorry in advance for that getting stuck in your head forever. If you love music news, hilarious fails, celebrity chaos, sarcastic humor, St. Louis energy, and a daily podcast that sounds like your funniest friends trapped in a group chat with microphones, welcome home.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
