Former special counsel Robert Mueller testified in front of Congress this week on his investigation's findings, but how consequential was his testimony? Meanwhile the Internet had questions about who Beyoncé's song 'Brown Skin Girl' is for and the lack of East African musical artists on her new 'Lion King'-adjacent album 'The Gift.' Plus, what are the effects of surveillance and technology on low-wage workers? Guest host Julia Furlan is joined by TV Guide features editor Krutika Mallikarjuna and BuzzFeed World senior reporter and editor Hayes Brown.
It’s time for another pop culture round up! This time, we’re checking in with TV Guide’s Krutika Mallikarjuna and Condeé Nast's Muna Mire about two queer Muslims currently on TV. First, we discuss *the character Adena El-Amin from the social media-obsessed, openly feminist dramedy, "The Bold Type".* Then, we discuss the *phenomenon* of "Queer Eye" and *the highs and lows of the show's fashion expert, Tan France.* Plus: we take a BuzzFeed quiz and discuss what else is good to watch right now. We've missed you during the hiatus, thirst-buckets! Thankfully we had OUR VERY FIRST LIVE SHOW before the withdrawal symptoms began to hit really hard. Recorded on Monday February 12th in New York, we discussed Black Panther, supervillain, um,... prowess, underrated romcoms, K-dramas, and even indulged in some public communal swooning. We had lovely guests – our old pal Krutika Mallikarjuna and new kid on the (thirst) block, E. Alex Jung – and we also had some adult goodies to give away thanks to our German-American pals at Fun Factory. We did something a little bit different with our drabbles in Fanfic Wars, and last but not least, we laughed a lot. So if you didn't make it, grab a glass of something chilled and settle in. AND STAY TUNED because we'll be back in March with regular episodes and so much thirsting *Cardi B. tongue*.
Special guest Krutika Mallikarjuna, features editor at TV Guide, joins us to lust after superheroes and comic book baes. We also talk about our experiences at this year's New York Comic Con, where we talked to fans and artists about cosplay, first crushes, and how to draw sexy. Also in this episode: SUPERHERO SEX. Thanks to everyone who spoke to us at the Comic Con Artist Alley, including Amy Reeder, Tee Franklin, Kieron Gillen, Fabrice Sapolsky, Gail Simone, Brian Stelfreeze, and Juan Ferreyra. We didn't meet Kevin Wada at Comic Con but we lust after his art a bunch in this episode. Find their work and more on our Tumblr. Follow us on Twitter for thirsty GIFs.
