Abu Sufyaan Ibn Harb رضي الله عنه (S51) Abu Sufyaan's رضي الله عنه participation in the Battle of Yarmook, 14 A.H: It was during Umar's رضي الله عنه reign that this battle took place. The main commander was Khalid Ibn al-Waleed رضي الله عنه. The Muslims were split into 4 battalions: The right was led by Amr Ibn al-Aas رضي الله عنه, the right middle by Shurahbeel Ibn Hasana رضي الله عنه, the left middle by Abu Ubaydah رضي الله عنه and the left by Yazeed Ibn Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنهم. Abu Sufyaan fought behind his son رضي الله عنهم. Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه was in his mid 70's here. There was ~1,000 companions رضي الله عنهم present at this battle, 100 were Badris رضي الله عنهم. The Battle lasted 6 days.
Abu Sufyaan Ibn Harb رضي الله عنه (S48) The destruction of the idol Al-Laat: Al-Laat was the idol of the Thaqeef. Al-Laat was a righteous man who used to mix saweeq for the pilgrims. When he passed away, the people would remain by his grave and ended up eventually worshipping him. A delegation of the Thaqeef tribe came to Madinah to accept Islam. The Messenger ﷺ sent Mugheera Ibn Shu'ba, Khalid Ibn al-Waleed and Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنهم to destroy the idol. A Masjid was built over the spot where the idol was destroyed. The Masjid is named Masjid Abdullah Ibn Abaas رضي الله عنهم.

The following article of the AI, Cloud & Data industry is: “‘Can we?' vs. ‘Should we?' How AI Changes Every Business Decision” by Waleed Mohsen, Founder and CEO, Verbal.
Abu Sufyaan Ibn Harb رضي الله عنه (S17) After the battle, Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه was looking for the body of the Messenger ﷺ but did not find it. Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه tells Khalid Ibn al-Waleed رضي الله عنه to go mount Uhud as Khalid رضي الله عنه saw the Messenger ﷺ ascending it. The Martyrs رضي الله عنهم bodies were mutilated by Hind رضي الله عنها and other Qurayshi women. Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه did not order Hind رضي الله عنها to do this, he turned his face away from this. Hind's رضي الله عنها family was killed at Badr. Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه goes to the base of mount Uhud and enquires if the Messenger ﷺ is still alive, or if Abu Bakr and Umar رضي الله عنهم were still alive.
Abu Sufyaan Ibn Harb رضي الله عنه (S15) Out of the 50 archers رضي الله عنهم, around 7-9 remained firm. Khalid Ibn al-Waleed رضي الله عنه took this opportunity to attack. ~200 horses charged towards the archers رضي الله عنهم. Amr Ibn Qameeya struck the Messenger ﷺ and he ﷺ fell into a ditch. Musab Ibn Umayr رضي الله عنه jumped to defend the Messenger ﷺ and he رضي الله عنه was martyred. Utbah Ibn Abi Waqaas threw a rock at the Messenger's ﷺ face, breaking his blessed lower teeth.

Listen to the rest of this premium episode by subscribing at patreon.com/knowyourenemy.We don't do too many New York City-focused episodes on Know Your Enemy, but Zohran Mamdani's decisive win in the Democratic mayoral primary last month certainly warrants this one. The thirty-three year old democratic socialist, state assemblyman, and Muslim of Indian descent born in Uganda, ended up running away with it, defeating the runner-up, former governor and sex pest Andrew Cuomo, by over ten points—and, when all the ballots finally were counted, set a record by receiving the most votes of any candidate for mayor in a Democratic primary in the city's history. Our format in this episode is a little different. In the first half, your podcast co-hosts lay out the basics of Zohran's victory, from Zohran's biography to the final tallies to our impressions of the candidate and his message. In the second half, we're joined by veteran progressive campaign strategist Waleed Shahid to get more of an insider's take on Zohran's achievement: the campaign's stunningly effective turnout operation, which brought out young voters in droves; how he withstood the disgusting way he was attacked as an anti-semite for his protesting Israel's genocide in Gaza; the substance of his pitch to New Yorkers, and it's contrast with Cuomo's uninspiring, mostly negative campaign; the deranged Islamophobic attacks on Zohran since he became the Democratic nominee, and not only from the right; the role of current NYC comptroller and a progressive, Jewish candidate in the race, Brad Lander, who cross-endorsed Zohran, refused to punch left, and joyfully campaigned with Zohran in the final weeks leading up to the election; and more!Sources:Waleed Shahid, "How Broadcast Media Covered Zohran Mamdani's Win," Waleed's Substack, July 3, 2025Matthew Miles Goodrich, "It's...the Politics of No Translation," Something Different, July 2, 2025Sam Adler-Bell, "Can DSA Go the Distance?" Jon got piled on last week for tweeting that activist groups have pushed the Democratic Party out of supermajority territory. Waleed Shahid, a progressive strategist who's worked for Bernie Sanders, AOC, and Justice Democrats, joins the show for an offline version of his and Jon's online debate. Waleed explains why he thinks the blame is misplaced, and Jon weighs in on who—or what—is behind Democratic leaders losing touch with their base. But first! Trump's new head of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, is a Project 2025 author. What does this mean for social media, free speech, and Elon Musk's ventures? Plus, new exit polling shows late-deciding, swing voters had wildly inaccurate beliefs about Kamala Harris's policy positions. Is hyper-targeted misinformation a permanent part of our electoral process now? For a closed-captioned version of this episode, click here. Matt and Sam interview Waleed Shahid and Abbas Alawieh, two organizers of the Uncommitted Movement, about their experiences in the months following October 7 as well as before, during, and after the Democratic National Convention. As an Arab-American from Michigan and one of the state's two Uncommitted delegates to the DNC, what has Abbas heard from the people in his community, and what has he heard from his party? Why try to work within the Democratic Party to change its approach to Israel-Palestine? What were the Uncommitted Movement's "asks" at the convention, and why were they all refused? How does the Democratic Party, institutionally, need to change to better reflect the broadly pro-ceasefire views of its voters? And is there any hope that a possible Harris administration will be an improvement on the dreadful status quo?Sources:Waleed Shahid, “Why the Uncommitted Movement Was a Success at the DNC,” Jacobin, Aug 27, 2024"'The Uncommitted Movement Is the Floor of What's Possible:' An Interview with Waleed Shahid," Dissent, Aug 16, 2024Ben Terris, "A 'Ceasefire Delegate' Finds Lots to Do but Little to Celebrate," Washington Post, Aug 21, 2024Akbar Shahid Ahmed, "Gaza War Critics Are Inspired By The 1964 DNC — And They're Playing The Long Game," HuffPost, Aug 23, 2024Noah Lanard, "Why Were Democrats Afraid to Hear a Palestinian?"
