We had a few different news stories we wanted to talk about, so we're bringing Geek Girl in the News back! Join us as we talk about the Oscars - no, not that event that everyone else is talking about, the achievements that ACTUALLY matter. We're also talking about the importance of crediting women for their work, especially when it comes to video games! Our favourite heroine, Sam Maggs, was recently left uncredited for her major role as Lead Writer in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. And we can't NOT talk about Elliot Page's character, Viktor Hargreeves, going through his own transition journey that will be celebrated in season 3 of The Umbrella Academy! In this episode of Geek Girl in the News, we covered these news stories: Every Winner at the Oscars 2022 (https://www.themarysue.com/every-winner-at-the-oscars-2022/) History Made at the Oscars (https://www.instagram.com/p/CbqAwd0JlNj/) Quote from Troy Kotsur (https://www.instagram.com/p/CboS0aFKPHv/) Cardi B's Incredible Platinum Achievement (https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb_gBsCuqBp/) Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart lead writer claims work has been "erased" (https://www.eurogamer.net/ratchet-and-clank-rift-apart-lead-writer-claims-work-has-been) That Sam Maggs Thread (https://twitter.com/SamMaggs/status/1508864995425062913) Elliot Page Introduces Us to ‘Umbrella Academy's' Viktor Hargreeves (https://www.themarysue.com/umbrella-academy-viktor-hargreeves-elliot-page/) Amanda also mentions Murdle - the newest, hottest Wordle-like Whodunnit (https://gtkmysteries.com/murdle/) Check Out Geek Herring!
