WONDER MAN is being praised as one of the best Marvel TV Shows ever! That got DJ and Roxy thinking, what other truly great shows are part of the MCU? Welcome to the Two Hundred & Third Edition of The Chronicles of Podcast, These are The Chronicles of The Oz Vlog We welcome Oz historian and The Oz Vlog host Tori Calamito for a magical deep dive into the wonderful world of Oz. Tori joins us to talk about her lifelong love for Frank L. Baum's Wizard of Oz universe and how discovering the original 1939 Wizard of Oz movie as a child sparked a passion that would grow into a career. From building an incredible collection of over 2,000 pieces of Oz memorabilia to becoming one of the most recognised voices in the Oz fan community, Tori shares how a childhood fascination turned into unforgettable real-life experiences. We discuss her favourite and least favourite Oz adaptations (yes, we're looking at you James Franco), whether Hollywood should attempt a Wizard of Oz remake, and how the world of Oz continues to shape pop culture more than 100 years after its creation. We also explore the lasting cultural impact of The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and the broader Oz universe across film, theatre and fandom. Tori also tells us the story behind The Oz Vlog and her meteoric rise on social media, why she started the channel, and the incredible opportunities it has brought her. From interviewing the cast and crew of Wicked, to gifting Bowen Yang a Pfannee fanny pack (yes you read that correctly), to actually holding the original ruby red slippers, this conversation is packed with behind-the-scenes stories that Oz fans and movie lovers won't want to miss. Also this week, the show kicks off with Storytime with Tom as we dive into one of the strangest headlines of the year involving Olympic skiers at the Winter Olympics and some very unexpected microchipping. From there, we pay tribute to two fallen icons, 3 Doors Down vocalist Brad Arnold and Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, reflecting on their impact and legacy and Jamie brings the weirdness back to the table with ASDA's new Valentine's event where shoppers grabbing a red basket are apparently single and ready to mingle. Naturally, we have questions. We also break down the so called controversial Super Bowl halftime show with Bad Bunny, which we thought was excellent, and talk about this year's standout Super Bowl commercials. The lads catch up on their weeks as Jamie returns to work, continues his WWE Survivor Series rewatch reaching Survivor Series 2005, and starts the new Marvel TV series Wonder Man. Meanwhile Tom enjoys a well earned week off celebrating his partner's birthday, catching up on TV shows and reacting to Scotland's disappointing start to the Six Nations. As always, Callum returns with a brand new Teachings, including a bold suggestion for next year's Super Bowl halftime show. Tom's Journal features the funniest things he has found on the internet this week. Our Single of the Week segment highlights two brand new song releases you need to hear. And Jamie's audience participation challenge asks what you would name your child if you had to name them after a 10 out of 10 album. I need to start this episode by saying something that doesn't come easily for me: I was wrong. I underestimated Wonder Man. I almost skipped it entirely — not because of the cast, not because of the concept, but because of the way Marvel released it. And that nearly cost me one of the most emotionally grounded, character-driven stories the MCU has ever put on Disney+. This is not a recap episode. This is a reflection and appreciation piece. In this episode of Marvel Maniac, I break down why Wonder Man works so powerfully — from Simon Williams' struggle with control, identity, and ambition, to Trevor Slattery's quietly devastating redemption arc, to the show's sharp commentary on art, ego, and being seen. We talk about why the Doorman episode reframes the entire series, why the callback episode is one of Marvel TV's best hours, and how the finale proves Marvel can still deliver something restrained, human, and special when it wants to. Wonder Man isn't loud. It isn't flashy. It doesn't beg you to care. It earns it. And by the end, it reminded me exactly why I fell in love with Marvel storytelling in the first place.
In our first 24 PPS episode for 2026, Paul and Liz return to dive into Wonder Man! They discuss bromances, heroes, and building a Marvel show with hardly any super-powers. This week Tamzyn, Miranda and Clayton dive into Wonder Man, the latest entry into the ever-expanding Marvel TV universe. Tamzyn wasn't sold after the first two episodes. It felt slow. A little directionless. Not quite sure what it wanted to be. But then… it found its footing. In this episode: • The surprisingly endearing lead and co-lead dynamic• Why the early episodes feel unfocused• The origin story payoff — was it worth the wait?• The Doorman episode — fun detour or flow killer?• Marvel fatigue vs Marvel reinvention• Bingeing it in two blocks vs watching week to week• That ending — satisfying or just setting up Season 2?• And of course… what superpower would Tamzyn actually want? It's not top-tier Marvel. It's not a disaster either. It's somewhere in that interesting middle ground — and maybe that's okay.

Frank is joined by Joe, aka "Muscles of the Multiverse," to talk Marvel storytelling from the comics page to the MCU screen, then go all-in on Disney+'s Wonder Man after its eight-episode drop. Joe breaks down what he does on YouTube, why he started the Reading the Multiverse podcast, and how he approaches Marvel adaptation trends without expecting (or wanting) a 1-to-1 translation. From there, the episode shifts into a full Wonder Man discussion: why the show works as a character-first story, how it balances comedy with real stakes, and why the Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery dynamic ended up being the surprise engine of the season. The conversation also gets into Simon's anxiety and identity pressure, the Department of Damage Control angle, the "Doorman" detour episode, and what all of this might be setting up for mutants and the next big MCU era. Timestamps and Topics (major beats) 00:00 Intro and guest welcome: Joe "Muscles of the Multiverse" 00:30 Joe's content approach: MCU-to-comics explainers + Reading the Multiverse podcast 02:15 Quick MCU news: Ian McKellen "destroyed New Jersey" comment and what it could imply 05:10 Wonder Man first reactions: why it's landing better than expected 06:40 Character-driven Marvel: Simon's relatability, anxiety, and hiding "who you are" in Hollywood 09:00 Acting as the hook: standout performances, "meta" acting scenes, and why Trevor works now 18:10 Wonder Man powers explained: ionic energy basics and how the MCU might simplify the lore 20:10 Bigger MCU threads: Vision/Wanda possibilities, mutant framing, and Damage Control as a warning sign 30:45 Episode balance talk: comedy vs drama, and why the Doorman episode hits so hard 41:00 What's next for Simon: hero-by-proxy theory, team potential, and final scores 44:40 Disney+ marketing debate: why some shows feel under-pushed and what Marvel can fix 50:35 Recommendations: The Ultimates (Deniz Camp) and revisiting Schitt's Creek 53:10 Joe's upcoming work: Doctor Doom deep cuts, Fantastic Four read-through, and the editing grind Key Takeaways Wonder Man works because it treats Simon Williams like a person first, superhero second. The show's comedy lands because the stakes stay real in the background, especially with Damage Control looming. Trevor Slattery is fully recontextualized here: still funny, but also weirdly wise and essential to Simon's growth. The Doorman episode is a standout swing that doubles as a Hollywood critique and a superhero fatigue commentary. Joe's breakdown of Simon's ionic-energy comic history highlights why Marvel rarely does strict comic-to-screen adaptation. Damage Control and the "quota" vibe point toward a wider MCU theme: institutional fear of powered people. Mutant groundwork is starting to feel less like a sudden switch and more like a slow social shift in-world. Both hosts land at a 9/10, with the only "missing point" being more about feel than a specific flaw. Memorable Quotes "There's usually never a 1 to 1 adaptation." "I didn't know that I needed more Trevor Slattery in my life. But now I do." "Mephisto is not going to be in everything." "It felt like it was made to be for an episodic TV show." "You can't help but root for Simon." Call to Action If you enjoyed this episode, make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss the next review and interview. The latest Jason Statham thriller "Shelter" provides exactly what you'd expect. It's packed with over-the-top action and ridiculous implausibilities. Statham is a disgraced special ops agent hiding out on a remote Scottish island who's forced back into action to protect an innocent preteen girl, well played by Bodhi Ray Breathnach. The action gets more elaborate and sillier as the movie progresses, but director Rick Roman Waugh puts the pedal to the metal and doesn't let logic get in the way. Don't roll your eyes too much while watching “Shelter,” or you'll miss some decent stunt work. Omar Epps and Wiz Khalifa lead the cast of the morose and violent crime drama "Moses the Black." Serbian writer/director Yelena Popovic attempts to juxtapose a modern story about a Chicago gang leader recently released from prison with that of the martyred Ethiopian saint from the fourth century. Epps is saddled with the responsibility of staring endlessly into void while supposedly seeing visions of the saint who turned from a life of crime to a life of asceticism. “Moses the Black” is bleak, awkward and as subtle as a sledgehammer. Just when you think that you might not be able to bear another Marvel TV offering, Disney+ presents the unique and involving 8-part series, "Wonder Man." Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays a struggling actor who is saddled with superpowers that are hard to control. He must hide his outlawed abilities in order to make it in Hollywood. Ben Kingsley plays a fellow actor who may or may not offer support. Often funny and refreshing, "Wonder Man" is a knowing and engaging satire of both Hollywood and superhero cliches.

Welcome back to Marvel Us Disney for the first episode of 2026, where Jim Hill and Dan Graney kick off the year by looking at how Marvel is embracing chaos, memory, and unfinished business. From carefully timed leaks and legacy character returns to the stories and creators who never quite got their final chapter, this episode connects Marvel's current strategy to the people and moments that shaped it. Along the way, the conversation takes some thoughtful detours into Hollywood history, creator recognition, and one very famous Spider-Man movie that almost happened. NEWS • Marvel's early-2026 rollout leans into controlled chaos, with Avengers: Doomsday teasers, overseas trailer ratings, and leaks that feel increasingly intentional • The return of legacy characters like Steve Rogers, Thor, and the X-Men signals a broader strategy, not just nostalgia • Why Marvel's staggered teaser strategy may be quietly helping Avatar: Fire and Ash dominate IMAX screens • Disney+ quietly drops all episodes of Wonder Man at once, adding it to the growing list of well-liked Marvel TV “orphans” • A meaningful tribute to Jack Kirby in New York City highlights how recognition sometimes comes from community, not corporations FEATURE • The origin of James Cameron's unmade Spider-Man film, including scripts, tone, and planned villains • How Cameron's darker, more adult take on Peter Parker clashed with a legal maze of rights and lawsuits • Why this unrealized project still explains Spider-Man's endless adaptability across reboots and eras • How Marvel's biggest “what ifs” continue to echo through today's franchise decisions HOSTS • Jim Hill - IG: @JimHillMedia | X: @JimHillMedia | Website: JimHillMedia.com • Dan Graney - Website: thehubbubbery.com FOLLOW • Facebook: JimHillMediaNews • Instagram: JimHillMedia • TikTok: JimHillMedia SUPPORT Support the show and access bonus episodes and additional content at Patreon.com/JimHillMedia. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesThough Disney and Marvel Studios have remained tight-lipped and cagey concerning details around the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, the Internet, and a few reputable trades, have collectively discerned that we apparently “know when the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is coming.” The prognosticators have deytermined the trailer will be attached to December's Avatar: Fire & Ash – big news, if true! Another unconfirmed, but believable rumor that has taken the Internet by storm concerns Marvel TV's Wonder Man series and its episode run times, which places the longest episode at 34 minutes and the shortest at 23 including credits. Per The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios has greenlit a Superman spinoff series focusing on standout Skyler Gisondo's Jimmy Olsen and coming to us from Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the creators of Netflix's award-winning mockumentary American Vandal. The series is said to focus on Olsen and other Daily Planet reporters, (though Lois Lane and Clark Kent were conspicuously excluded,) as he tackles cases involving superpowered villains, with Season One featuring Flash rogue Gorilla Grodd as a big bad. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes While Marvel Studios allegiance to San Diego and Hall H seems to have waned in recent years, not so for last weekend's New York City Comic Con where our favorite cinematic universe teased the latest and greatest for their small screen offerings. Let's rundown the biggest headlines from Marvel Television:Wonder Man released its official teaser trailer alongside the announcement that the 8-episode series had been delayed from December 2025 to January 27, 2026Fans in attendance were treated to an exclusive trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, presented by Daredevil actor Charlie Cox who was reunited with Jessica Jones actor Krysten Ritter. The series was confirmed for a March 2026 release on Disney Plus and we also learned Wilson Bethel's Bullseye will return and Matthew Lillard will be an antagonist to Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin. Separate from NYCC, but still worth mentioning on the subject of Daredevil: Born Again, speaking with Entertainment Tonight Marvel TV Head Brad Winderbaum shared the season's connection to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying "We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there's coherence there. We don't want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is important."VisionQuest and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 were confirmed for Fall 2026 release windows, while X-Men '97 Season 2 was announced for Summer 2026. All three shows debuted exclusive trailers not yet released to the public and both animated series confirmed their third seasons to be in development. On the DCU TV side of things, Peacemaker Season 2 aired its final episode last week, and while we'll avoid getting specific with spoilers given the recency, when asked about a third season James Gunn did provide comments on the series' future and its impact on the DCU at large, saying, “This is about the other stories in which this [cliffhanger] will play out,” he said. “Never say never. But right now, this is about the future of the DCU.” Gunn also shared that he spoke with Ryan Reynolds about a Deadpool cameo in Peacemaker and that while the actor was interested, the logistics required to pull off the crossover were ultimately deemed too daunting.Despite Tron: Ares' number one spot debut at the box office last weekend with a $60.5 million global haul, the numbers are disappointingly muted when weighed against projections of $85-95 million and a reported $180 million budget. The film currently holds a 56% on Rotten Tomatoes and B+ Cinemascore.HBO revealed the debut trailer for Game of Thrones spin off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms at New York Comic Con last week and has announced a premiere date of Jan. 18.Bradley Cooper is in talks to star opposite Margot Robbie in the Ocean's Eleven prequel at Warner Bros. Frank and Squeaks break down the biggest New York Comic Con headlines, from Invincible season 4 and Batman Knightfall to X-Men '97 and Marvel's Wonder Man. They give honest, spoiler-light reactions to the Peacemaker season 2 finale, talk about what the show sets up for the DCU, and then welcome voice actor Jordan Reynolds for a deep dive on playing Adam Warlock in Marvel Rivals. Jordan explains his audition process, how direction shapes in-game performance, and why Adam should feel like a calm anchor when the fight gets chaotic. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 Cold open and Peacemaker gag, show rundown 01:25 What's on deck today – NYCC news, Peacemaker S2 review, interview with Jordan Reynolds 02:17 Invincible S4 dated for March 2026, where the story heads, cosmic scale, and why Thragg raises the stakes 08:33 Batman: Knightfall animated event – four films starting in 2026, hopes for DC's new animated era 12:25 X-Men '97 – season 2 in summer 2026 with Apocalypse focus, season 3 already planned, Four Horsemen and Onslaught talk 18:27 Wonder Man trailer – Hollywood satire vibes, how meta Marvel might go, January 27, 2026 launch window 24:17 VisionQuest – James Spader back as Ultron, Stark AIs in human form, Speed casting, the “WandaVision-Agatha-VisionQuest” trilogy idea 30:01 Mortal Kombat – MK III confirmed, MK II moves to May 2026, where the films could escalate next 33:09 Starfleet Academy trailer reactions – teen drama concerns vs Trek world-building 37:23 A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – lighter tone, Ashford tourney focus, January 18, 2026 premiere 43:50 Peacemaker S2 review – why the season works, why the finale felt underwhelming, multiverse town twist, Keith thread 51:17 DCU setup – Checkmate hints, Salvation Run ideas, how this could feed into Superman and government vs metahumans 58:45 What's next – could Peacemaker shift into a Checkmate-style series, Lanterns connections 1:02:15 Interview: Jordan Reynolds (Adam Warlock) – audition approach, building a “stable, reliable” voice, methodical healer playstyle, directing alt callouts and action barks Key Takeaways Invincible's next chapter leans harder into the cosmic war and should bring Thragg front and center. DC's animated Knightfall could set the tone for a fresh post-DCEU animation slate. X-Men '97 is thinking big with Apocalypse while still leaving room for classic arcs to surface later. Wonder Man looks like a character study about actors and fame first, superhero spectacle second. VisionQuest aims at identity and fatherhood, with Ultron and Stark AIs complicating Vision's humanity. MK III is happening while MK II shifts to May 2026, likely escalating from tournament to Earthrealm stakes. Starfleet Academy's tone split the room, but the world of Trek can still benefit from smaller-scale stories done right. Peacemaker S2 delivers heart and growth for Chris Smith, even if the finale plays more like a handoff to the wider DCU. Checkmate and “metahumans vs government” are poised to be a major connective thread into Superman. Jordan Reynolds frames Adam Warlock as the calm center of a chaotic match – measured, hopeful, and precise. Quotes “Season one was a Peacemaker season. This one felt like a Chris season.” “I just wanted him to be happy.” “Ultron is a better villain than one movie. He deserves to be around more.” “If you cannot move fast, you have to be very conscious about your choices.” – Jordan Reynolds “He should feel stable, reliable, an anchor for the team.” – Jordan Reynolds on Adam Warlock Call to Action Enjoying the show? Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesIt appears as though Marvel Studios much speculated film that was slated to release between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in July 2027, won't be happening after all; or at least not that July, as Disney has replaced the untitled project with a sequel to The Simpsons Movie dated for July 23, 2027. The move comes as a surprise to many Marvel fans who anticipated a possible Doctor Strange or Shang-Chi sequel to take place between the Avengers tentpoles but is in keeping with what Bob Iger and Kevin Feige have promised about a slowdown in production. Elsewhere, with Marvel Zombies premiering on Disney Plus last week, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum teased a possible season 2, but emphasized that would be contingent on viewership and new Disney Plus subscriptions. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olsen took the opportunity to share that although she recorded lines for the series, she doesn't remember anything about the show or plot. It was a huge week for trailers from a bevy of our favorite franchises, so lets run them down with another good old fashioned Trailer Park:Insomniac and Sony released the first gameplay trailer for Marvel's Wolverine on the PS5, which will release in fall of 2026.Lucasfilm unveiled a new trailer for Star Wars; Visions Volume 3 which also announced the cast that includes Anna Sawai, Freddie Highmore, George Takei, Harvey Guillén, Jodie Turner-Smith, Judith Light, Simu Liu, Stephanie Hsu, and Steve Buscemi. The final trailer for Jon M. Chu's Wicked: For Good released last Wednesday morning to much acclaim. And finally, a new trailer for 20th Century's Avatar: Fire and Ash teased more of the villainous faction and stakes.Director Denis Villeneuve shed new light on his upcoming version of 007 for Amazon/MGM; sharing that the casting process will begin next year after he's completed production on Dune: Part Three for Warner Bros and that he is looking to cast a “relatively unknown” “fresh face” actor in their 20s or 30s. Additional criteria the filmmaker included is that the performer must hail from the British Isles and be male, as well as his desire to capture what Fleming called “a blunt instrument” — the lethal but “extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happened.” If Villeneuve and team stay true to these parameters, it potentially rules out many fan-casted favorites and seems to be in more alignment with the Broccoli family's traditions with the character than expected with new creatives in control.Mark Ronson is slated to reunite with Greta Gerwig to score her Chronicles of Narnia adaptation at Netflix. Ronson previously served as executive music producer for Gerwig's Barbie.Amazon MGM Studios‘ adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' bestselling novel Fourth Wing is closing in on a new showrunner. Wednesday Season 2 executive producer Meredith Averill is in final negotiations to board the project as writer and executive producer.Sony revealed that Spider-Man: Beyond the SpiderVerse will arrive a week earlier than expected, and land on June 18, 2027. Notably, that new date will cover the Juneteenth holiday as well as Father's Day. It previously was dated for June 25, 2027.Comedian Bill Burr is in talks to join the cast of Aaron Sorkin and Sony Pictures' sequel to The Social Network, after Jeremy Strong, Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White were officially cast. The film also has been retitled The Social Reckoning and will officially hit theaters on Oct. 9, 2026.A newly created AI “actress” named Tilly Norwood, designed by the studio Xicoia under Particle6, has reportedly drawn interest from Hollywood talent agencies. The announcement sparked major backlash from real actors, with critiques about replacing human talent, the ethics of compositing real faces, and calls to boycott agencies that represent AI personas.
