In this heartfelt episode, host James Cox welcomes the multi‑talented artist Acacia Grace—a neo‑soul, jazz, and R&B vocalist whose music is as raw as it is restorative. From her origins in Washington DC and a career in federal law enforcement to a life‑changing move to France, Acacia shares how a cascade of health challenges (lupus‑like connective‑tissue disorder, Sjögren's, Bouc‑B et al.) and personal setbacks—car accidents, a dwarfing daughter's recovery, and chronic dysautonomia—have shaped her artistic voice.Listeners hear Acacia open up about:Music as medicine – why she writes love‑filled, uplifting anthems and how poetry fuels her songwriting. Her upcoming projects – a French‑language album “Follow My Armourous” dropping next week, the English follow‑up set for her birthday on June 24, and singles like “Sunshine,” “Infatuation,” and “I Don't Need You.”The creative process – pre‑mix “bounces,” DIY vocal experiments, and the influence of jazz hubs from Paris's La Villette to New York's eclectic scene.Life beyond the studio – meditation, crystal‑bowl sound baths, and the importance of asking for help in a world that still stigmatizes mental‑health care.Through candid stories, laughter, and a lightning‑round of favorite influences (Sade, Jill Scott, Robert Glasper, Cleo Soul, and UK neo‑soul sir Jerome Thomas), Acacia reminds us that resilience, love, and a good groove can help us survive any storm.Tune in for an inspiring conversation about identity, healing, and the power of music to speak when words fall short.
www.patreon.com/theconspiracypodcastThe Ark of the Covenant (Part 1)It's a box. Not a particularly big box — roughly four feet long, covered in gold, carried on poles, and missing for over 2,600 years. But according to three major world religions, it's the single most dangerous object that has ever existed on planet Earth. This week, Sean, Eric, and Jorge crack open one of the greatest mysteries in human history: the Ark of the Covenant. Before anyone can chase it, hide it, or die trying to touch it, you need to understand what this thing actually was. The boys walk through the full origin story — Moses on Mount Sinai, 40 days and 40 nights, a very specific divine blueprint, and a construction contract that made IKEA instructions look casual. God wanted acacia wood, exact cubit measurements, a solid gold lid hammered by hand, and two golden cherubim with wings arching inward. No substitutions. No pine. Acacia only, sir. Then the Ark starts doing things. Rivers stop flowing. City walls collapse. Seventy people drop dead just for looking inside it. A man named Uzzah reaches out to keep it from falling off a cart — trying to save it — and God strikes him down on the spot. The Philistines steal it, regret it immediately, and send it back with gold offerings and a full apology. It parts the Jordan River. It flattens the walls of Jericho without a single sword swung. And then, somewhere around 586 BC, it simply vanishes — so completely that even the Babylonian king who looted Jerusalem didn't bother writing it down.Where did it go? Is it buried under a church in Ethiopia? Was it hidden by priests who saw the invasion coming? Was it ever even a physical object at all? The boys lay the foundation this week so Part 2 can go full conspiracy. The mystery is just getting started.

Send us Fan MailDrowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 in multiple countries - yet it receives only a fraction of the attention of other public health crises. Why?Acacia Landfield is Associate Director, Principal Investigator, and Director of Policy & Implementation Science at The Drowning Research & Injury Prevention Policy Institute ( DRIPPI - https://www.drippi.org/ ), a multidisciplinary nonprofit consortium focused on reducing drowning deaths through research, education, systems thinking, and policy innovation.Acacia brings together an unusually broad background spanning public health, international diplomacy, education, implementation science, and aquatic safety. A lifelong swim coach and water safety educator, she has spent more than 25 years working across injury prevention, public policy, and community education, with a mission to address one of the world's most overlooked public health crises: childhood drowning.Acacia's work focuses on what she calls “universal basic aquatic competency” - the idea that early, gentle, developmentally informed water exposure can fundamentally change drowning outcomes across entire populations. Her research explores everything from breathing mechanics and motor learning in the water to the unintended downstream effects of flotation devices and inequities in aquatic infrastructure.Acacia is also helping reframe drowning prevention as part of a much larger conversation around climate resilience, disaster preparedness, urban planning, and health equity. As a 2024 Presidential Road Safety Scholar with the American Public Health Association, and an active contributor to climate and disaster preparedness initiatives, she is pushing for drowning prevention to be treated not as a niche issue, but as a core pillar of public health policy worldwide. Before co-founding DRIPPI and launching her research initiative SASE, Acacia held leadership and strategy roles at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and the U.S. Department of State, where she worked on international education, diplomacy, and policy initiatives across multiple countries and sectors.Acacia holds degrees from Yale University and San José State University, is completing her MPH, and plans to pursue a DrPH focused on implementation science and injury prevention.Today, we'll explore why drowning remains one of the leading causes of death for children worldwide, why many current prevention models may be incomplete, and how a systems-level rethink of aquatic literacy could potentially save tens of thousands of lives each year.#DrowningPrevention #WaterSafety #AquaticLiteracy #Swimming #PublicHealth #ClimateResilience #ChildSafety #AquaticCompetency #DRIPPI #AcaciaLandfield #InjuryPrevention #SwimSafety #Aquatics #GlobalHealth #ClimateChange #ImplementationScience #AquaticEducation #SwimmingLessons #Parenting #HealthPodcast #Longevity #BrainHealth #DisasterPreparedness #HealthInnovation #WaterCompetencySupport the show
A 38-year-old man is recovering in the PA Hospital after being shot in the leg by up to four armed offenders who forced their way into his Acacia Ridge unit last night. The incident sparked a broader on-air discussion about rising suburban crime, community desensitisation, and whether everyday citizens are losing their drive to report illegal activity.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What happens when a woman leaves behind a life of law enforcement, survives chronic illness, and finally gives herself permission to feel? In this deeply intimate episode of Skin and Soul, Gwenm Carsley sits down with singer-songwriter Acacia Grace for a raw conversation about reinvention, sensuality, heartbreak, creativity, and healing through art. From working FBI forfeiture and seizure cases to writing emotionally charged love songs in France, Acacia opens up about the unexpected path that led her back to herself. Together, they explore chronic autoimmune illness, spirituality beyond religion, feminine desire, emotional maturity in love, and the power of music to transform pain into beauty. This episode is a vulnerable, soulful journey into what it means to soften after survival — and to choose authenticity over performance. A powerful conversation for anyone navigating reinvention, illness, heartbreak, creativity, or the courage to live more truthfully.
Brethren, this Short Talk Bulletin Podcast episode was written by MW Bro Carl H. Claudy, and is brought to us by Bro George Koutrokois, Acacia #121, Durham, ME. Few Masonic subjects have resulted in more arguments and controversy than this. Agreement has been difficult, but at long last the Masonic world has had to concur in the thought that the whole truth is not known; that it may, but probably never will, be known; and that as long as men differ as to what is “real” evidence and what is “circumstantial” evidence, and the credibility to be attached to the latter, no complete agreement among authorities is likely. In Episode 170, Acacia pulls a relationship tarot spread packed with powerful soulmate energy — and the cards don't lie. Your overall energy is pure happiness and playfulness, but emotionally you're stuck in your head, convinced this connection is forbidden or doomed to end in heartbreak. Spoiler: the cards disagree. Your person is emotionally available and — wait for it — they literally think you're their soulmate. The obstacle between you two? You're ready to explode from pent-up emotions, and they're trapped in a mental prison, too afraid to make a move. The good news: the cards show them breaking their silence and reaching out, drawn by an almost otherworldly, telepathic pull that points straight toward commitment. Acacia dives into what's fueling that inner pressure cooker (hello, journaling card), why emotional decluttering — whether that's your home, your phone, or your situationships — is your secret weapon right now, and how faking happiness until you feel it is sometimes the only way through the hard stuff. She also reflects on listener gratitude, the real purpose behind the show, and why she keeps showing up every week for the community that actually gets it. Plus, the soulmate messages are BACK. All 13 zodiac signs get their own spicy, personalized message this week — because you deserve it, and because apparently it's great for SEO too.
1788, Versailles.

M. of Missouri, and is brought to us by Bro George Koutrokois of Acacia #121, Durham ME. Here we find an interesting tale, similar to one that may have happened in your Lodge, and well deserving of consideration by all who wish for something more for and from said Lodge. In Episode 167 of Love, Sex & Tarot, host Acacia dives deep into the science of relationship maintenance with the "72-Hour Rule"—the chemical reality that intimacy (sexual or otherwise) needs to be rekindled every 72 hours to maintain the oxytocin bond between partners. Drawing from relationship science and personal anecdotes, Acacia explains why couples drift apart when they let emotional and physical gaps widen into "insurmountable chasms of silence," and provides actionable advice on how women can shift from passive recipients to active initiators of intimacy. The episode also features a tarot reading exploring financial struggles, the desire to move/escape past memories, and a passionate new connection with a King of Swords (Air sign) that promises long-term success and "sensory sex." Additional topics include: why women need to view sex as self-care rather than another chore, the importance of the female orgasm and communication around pleasure, and the study showing that just 47 minutes of daily quality time is the sweet spot for relationship satisfaction. The show wraps with a reminder about the ongoing tarot reading giveaway for listeners who leave a five-star review. ⚠️ These are performances and for entertainment purposes only. Are you magnetically drawn to someone but completely stuck in your head about it? Travel tends to bring out two extremes: people either try to be perfect, or they say screw it and act like all their habits have to disappear the second they leave home. This conversation with Morgan, Christin, and Acacia gets into why consistency feels harder on the road, what's actually going on there, and how to keep your footing without turning a trip into a full-blown all-or-nothing mess. They talk through the very real role of environment change, decision fatigue, and why struggling more while traveling is not some personal failure of discipline. There's also a lot here on keeping a few key anchors in place, letting habits be flexible instead of rigid, and remembering that doing a solid job still counts even when life looks different than it does at home. If travel has a way of knocking you out of rhythm, this one will help you think about consistency in a way that's a lot more realistic, sustainable, and sane. Cooking more at home is one of the most common goals people bring into nutrition coaching, and one of the most resisted. Most people don't really struggle with knowing what to eat. The friction usually shows up in the execution: planning, shopping, prepping, and doing it all during a busy week. Brooke, Acacia, and Jess G. talk about how to make cooking more practical and sustainable. The conversation centers on simplifying the process: focus on basic skills, build repeatable meal structures, and learn to cook components rather than complicated recipes. They also dig into common barriers like time, decision fatigue, and the belief that every meal needs to be elaborate. When people stop treating every meal like it needs to be a culinary event, cooking becomes far more manageable The takeaway is simple: you don't have to love cooking. But building a realistic system around it can make eating well far more sustainable. Consistency, not creativity, is what makes it work long term. The script explains why fiber is critical for gut and metabolic health, focusing on how soluble fiber is fermented in the colon to produce short-chain fatty acids (butyrate, propionate, acetate). It contrasts soluble fiber (forms a gel, lowers LDL by binding bile acids, slows glucose absorption, increases satiety, feeds the microbiome) with insoluble fiber (adds stool bulk, helps constipation). It highlights research showing 10 g/day psyllium husk (Metamucil) is linked to a 10% reduction in all-cause mortality and typically lowers LDL about 7–15%. Butyrate is emphasized as the primary fuel for colonocytes, supporting gut barrier integrity and potentially reducing colon cancer risk, while also affecting mitochondria, inflammation, and the brain. Propionate influences liver cholesterol production and satiety hormones, and acetate provides systemic energy. Practical supplementation "stacks," dosing ranges, food sources, GI side effects, and timing cautions (e.g., separating psyllium from minerals) are discussed. Active recovery gets talked about a lot and misunderstood even more. Brooke, Acacia, and Jess Gordon break down what active recovery days are for, why so many people accidentally turn them into training days, and how that mindset can quietly stall progress, drive fatigue, and increase injury risk. They dig into what active recovery should (and should not) look like, how to spot when you're under-recovering, why recovery days still require proper nutrition, and how stress outside the gym changes what your body needs. From performance athletes to everyday gym-goers, this conversation reframes recovery as a tool for better training, not time off you have to "earn." If you're constantly sore, always tired, or feel like you're working hard but not moving forward, this might be the missing piece. The boards of the Mishkan are pretty large; too large to be constructed from the Acacia trees in the Sinai desert! So where did the timber come from?
Andrew and Dominique look back at their first year cohosting the At First Listen podcast. We did 43 episodes this year. It was a lot of music to listen to and far too much to remember! So we have to ask: What did we love? What did we forget about? What do we wish we could forget? Dominique admits that she still listens to Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet weekly. Andrew comes clean about his renewed enjoyment of brutal death metal and deathcore, and he shouts out some of the bands that have come into his orbit this year. In this powerful episode, Kara sits down with Acacia Walker, one of the most accomplished coaches in women's lacrosse and the head coach of Team USA. Acacia shares the secret sauce behind building championship teams—from taking Boston College from never winning a national title to securing two championships and becoming the winningest program since 2017. This conversation is packed with leadership lessons, culture-building strategies, and mindset practices that apply far beyond the field. Acacia opens up about the power of unselfishness, the art of hard conversations, and how visualization shapes performance. She also shares her journey to becoming Team USA's head coach and how she balances coaching 40 athletes with raising three kids. In a world of perpetual motion, there exists a realm of profound stillness—where light doesn't simply illuminate, it transforms. Far from home amid Earth's frozen tundras, time itself seems suspended in crystalline air. In today's podcast, we'll visit these places where time hangs in the balance, and we'll explore the intrepid mix of endurance, patience, and vision it takes to make pictures there. Joining us for this conversation are polar photography specialists Acacia Johnson and Jonas Paurell. From making distinctions between Arctic and Antarctic regions, to learning about the unique challenges involved with photographing there, our polar experts share many valuable insights. In addition to tips about packing and safeguarding camera gear in cold weather climates, we also discuss the importance of managing expectations during such trips, especially when faced with a long wait to see wildlife amid the barren stillness. As Alaskan photographer Acacia Johnson puts it, “… I think going into a trip with kind of a sense of exploration, like the joy of the trip is that you don't know, and it's completely unique to your experience. And whatever you do see is kind of a gift.” Guests: Acacia Johnson & Jonas Paurell Episode Timeline: 3:37: Acacia Johnson's upbringing in the wilds of Alaska and leaving the area for photo studies at the Rhode Island School of Design in the lower 48. 7:35: Jonas Paurell's youth in Sweden and the impact his first trek to Scandinavian Arctic regions had on his soul. 14:08: The differences between Arctic and Antarctic polar landscapes, plus Acacia's experiences during a winter in Arctic Bay, with no sun for four months. 29:13: Different approaches to storytelling about the Arctic based on subject matter, and capturing an emotion in images that does justice to the landscape. 37:31: The logistics of getting to Arctic and Antarctic locations, and expenses involved with working and living there. 43:19: The Jubilee Expedition Jonas organized to celebrate the 150th anniversary of a legendary Swedish polar expedition to Svalbard. 51:20: Episode Break 51:38: Preparations for a polar expedition and the camera gear Acacia and Jonas pack. 1:00:31: Using a large format camera on polar expeditions, plus managing gear in extreme cold conditions. 1:06:42: Managing expectations for travelers, misconceptions when planning trips, plus different types of vessels used during expeditions to polar regions. 1:16:42: Cultivating an authentic connection to place when photographing polar regions. 1:21:29: The changing ethics of photographing in polar regions, plus findings from Jonas's Jubilee Expedition Guest Bios: Acacia Johnson is a photographer, writer, and a 2023 National Geographic Explorer based in Anchorage, Alaska. Drawn to painterly light and otherworldly landscapes, her work focuses on the environment, conservation, and connections between people and place. Over the past 10 years, she has made more than fifty expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica as a photographer and a guide—always seeking to inspire wonder and compassion for these remote regions during a time of rapid change. Her photographs have been exhibited internationally and have been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic and TIME magazines, among other publications. In 2021, Acacia was awarded the Canon Female Photojournalist Grant, and in 2022 she received the ICP Infinity Award for Documentary Practices and Photojournalism. Jonas Paurell is an explorer, conservation photographer, photo educator, and speaker from Gothenburg, Sweden. One of his most ambitious projects is a 25-year documentation of the Arctic. Through ski expeditions and icebreaker voyages, he has captured both the resilience and vulnerability of Arctic landscapes, emphasizing the fragility of the region and the urgent need for preservation. In 2022, Jonas launched The Jubilee Expedition, recreating the historic Swedish Polar Expedition of 1872 to highlight this region's rapid melting and the far-reaching impacts of climate change. Jonas is also founder of Terra Photography Expeditions, which offers immersive workshops in both Arctic regions and South American rainforests, helping photographers deepen their connection with nature while refining their craft. Additionally, before dedicating his life to photography, Jonas served as a human rights lawyer for the United Nations.
