The culmination of two years hard work, BNE: The Definitive Archive is a prolific look at the last 35 years of independent electronic music in Brisbane. Compiled by Trans:Com the book features some 140 bands and artists as well as an archive of 260 recordings. In terms of Brisbane music or even electronic music journalism not much else comes close to the sheer breadth of scope contained within Project BNE. On September 6th 2014, Trans:Com launched BNE: The Definitive Archive at The Brisbane powerhouse with performances by The Mega Men, Vision Four 5, Soma Rasa and Boxcar. The Mega Men: The Mega Men were formed in 1982 by Zhian Behm, Mark love and Lance Leopard. They were well known throughout the Brisbane underground party scene for their unique style and flair; a picture perfect remix of new-romantic fashion and 80s excess. They continued to play the club scene throughout the 80s and even performed on TV for channel 7; a performance that brings to mind both the pop flamboyance of Adam Ant with the cool German efficiency of a group like DAF. They reformed in 2012 and still make the occasional public appearance. Recorded & mixed by Josh Watson. Recorded at The Brisbane Powerhouse. 6th September 2014. Vision Four 5: Originally formed by Noel Burgess, Ben Suthers and Gavin Sade in 1990 and active up until 1997, Vision Four 5 were a live dance music act that significantly incorporated live video and animation into their performances. Known best for their club hit ‘Everything You Need’ Vision Four 5 played regularly at Big Day Out, clubs and raves across Australia with other recognisable electronic dance acts such as: Boxcar, Severed Heads and Single Gun Theory. Both Burgess and Suthers remained with the group until 97, joining them from 93 onwards were Tim Gruchy and Al Ferguson. Recorded & mixed by Josh Watson. Recorded at The Brisbane Powerhouse. 6th September 2014. Airing details: Originally via Zed Digital, 8-9pm, Friday 2 January 2015. Show production and engineering: Josh Watson.
