Summary This holiday season, your feed will be flooded with "must-have" wellness products — detox kits, powders, trackers, supplements, and miracle solutions promising to fix your stress, your hormones, and your sleep. But do we really need all of this stuff? In this episode, I'm breaking down how wellness has drifted away from its roots and turned into another form of consumerism — selling us insecurity in the name of self-care. I'll share how to spot wellness grifters, what real well-being actually looks like, and the few time-tested practices that still matter: acupuncture, baths, walks, nourishing meals, sleep, friends, hobbies, and joy. If your wellness routine involves 17 products, 5 subscriptions, 2 wearable tech devices, and credit card debt… it's not wellness — it's capitalism. Let's get back to what actually heals. Takeaways We live in a different society than thousands of years ago. The basics of well-being still apply today. Being outside in nature is crucial for health. Community and belonging are essential for well-being. Nourishing meals contribute significantly to health. Restful sleep is a fundamental aspect of well-being. Time spent with friends enhances quality of life. Engaging in hobbies brings joy and fulfillment. Strength training and movement are vital for physical health. Breath work is an important practice for overall wellness. In this episode of Blazin' Grazin' and Other Wild Things, we hear from Kayla Moss, Extension Assistant at Oklahoma State University, about her groundbreaking research in Oklahoma.  Moss shares how she tackled the invasive sericea lespedeza using a combination of fire, herbicide, and grazing. She discusses how growing-season burns, when followed by a well-timed herbicide application, delivered the most effective long-term control - reducing sericea cover from 35% to under 1%. The episode also explores the unexpected return of native legumes after treatment, the resilience of sericea seedbanks, and the practical trade-offs producers face when balancing cattle gains with ecosystem health.  Supported by co-hosts Dr. Laura Goodman, Dr. Mark Turner, and John Weir, this conversation is full of science-backed strategies, real-world challenges, and relatable advice for any land manager facing invasive species. Key Takeaways Sericea lespedeza is highly invasive, with seedbanks that can persist for decades. Growing-season fire followed by herbicide application a year later showed the most effective control. Dormant-season fire alone may increase sericea cover. Herbicide applied post-burn can reduce seed production significantly. Cattle weight gains were not negatively affected by growing-season burns. Native legumes like partridge pea and slender lespedeza can repopulate treated areas. Seed germination of sericea is extremely tough, requiring even sulfuric acid in lab settings. The cost of metsulfuron methyl herbicide is under $4 per acre. Spot spraying and drone tech may offer future precision control options. Integrated management is more practical and effective than standalone treatments. On this episode of the Chuck ToddCast, Chuck unpacks a tumultuous week for Donald Trump as newly released Epstein emails reignite old scandals — and this time, they may stick. With Speaker Mike Johnson appearing to serve Trump’s interests over his own members, and a worsening economy eroding public patience, Chuck explores whether we’re witnessing the beginning of Trump’s “lame duck” moment. He draws parallels between Trump’s endless stream of controversies, his history of corrupt pardons, and how even “teflon” presidents eventually turn “velcro” when conditions shift. As the cost of living rises and swing voters tune out partisan noise, scandals like Epstein’s are cutting through both sides’ information bubbles — forcing Republicans to reckon with Trump’s baggage. Chuck argues that if Democrats manage a midterm sweep, historians might look back on this very week as the turning point when Trump’s political luck finally began to run out. Finally, he answers listeners’ questions in the “Ask Chuck” segment and breaks down the latest in college football. Go to https://getsoul.com & enter code TODDCAST for 30% off your first order. The coldest place in the nation today is near Nashville, Tennessee, where temperatures in Gatlinburg hit 3 degrees. Tim explains that technically we’re still in a long-term ice age, but in a warmer “interglacial” phase that began 2.6 million years ago, with the last deep freeze ending about 12,000 years ago. The forecast for Southern California has changed — expect six straight days of rain. Tim reminisces about Disneyland’s Autopia, comparing it to how L.A. streets now look cluttered with trash, asking why people have stopped caring. Mammoth Mountain delays its opening day by one day due to the storm. On a lighter note, Elizabeth Olsen told Seth Meyers she’s a fan of Dodgers reporter David Vassegh. The show wraps with Tim thanking listeners for all the birthday cards and gifts he received. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

When entrepreneurs retire from their businesses, it doesn't always result in the freedom they imagined. In this episode, Tricia Wingerter shares why structure, teamwork, and purpose matter just as much after retirement—and how discovering your Unique Ability® and staying in contribution aren't just good for business, but for your mind, energy, and happiness too. Here's some of what you'll learn in this episode:Why Tricia didn't see herself as an entrepreneur until joining Strategic Coach®.How Tricia unlocked the skills and confidence needed to hire the right people. What entrepreneurs might unintentionally give up when they step away from meaningful work. How a family illness inspired Tricia to purchase her Visiting Angels home care agency.Show Notes:The Strategic Coach® Program allows already ambitious people to become more ambitious. Choosing work you love and do best keeps your brain sharp, engaged, and full of energy. Spot someone doing outstanding work? Acknowledging and celebrating it is a sign of real leadership. Retirement doesn't have a set age or template—your path is your own. All of your problems, discouragements, and heartaches are great opportunities in disguise. When entrepreneurs stop growing and contributing, boredom sets in fast. Retirement often feels very different, and sometimes much emptier, than most entrepreneurs expect. Too much unstructured time can leave even the busiest people restless or blue. Discovering and honoring your Unique Ability® validates what you do best and brings energy back to your work. There's no rulebook for when or how to step back—keep growing as long as you want to grow. Structure, teamwork, and deadlines give meaning and momentum to day-to-day life, even after “retirement.” Staying focused in your Unique Ability isn't just good for your business, it keeps your mind fresh and your purpose strong. Fulfillment comes from contribution, not withdrawal. When you feel lost or bored, helping others and pursuing your mission can reignite your spark. Valuing your strengths, asking others for help, and building a team you trust makes leadership a richer, more collaborative adventure. There's no one way for entrepreneurs to age; finding purpose every day is the true marker of success. Resources:Unique Ability® How To Foster A Longevity Mindset & Reap The Benefits EOS® My Plan For Living To 156 by Dan Sullivan Who Not How by Dan Sullivan with Dr. Benjamin Hardy
