New Money Making Conversations episodes drop daily. I want to alert you, so you don’t miss out on expert analysis and insider perspectives from my guests who provide tips that can help you uplift the community, improve your financial planning, motivation, or advice on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Ryan Wilson. Co-founder and CEO of The Gathering Spot (TGS), joins host Rushion McDonald to discuss his entrepreneurial journey, the creation and expansion of The Gathering Spot, and the broader mission of building community, economic opportunity, and cultural pride for Black professionals and creatives. Wilson explains that while TGS officially opened in Atlanta in 2016, the idea began years earlier when he was a law student in Washington, D.C. What started as a reimagining of the traditional private city club became a national platform combining community, collaboration, events, workspaces, and eventually fintech tools. Despite major obstacles—most notably being rejected by 97 potential investors—Wilson persisted, driven by a clear sense of purpose and belief in the unmet needs of Black and minority communities. The conversation highlights Atlanta’s importance as the launch city, the power of community-driven spaces, and the need to move beyond performative diversity efforts toward sustainable, scalable Black-owned businesses. Purpose of the Interview The primary purpose of the interview is to: Inspire entrepreneurs, especially young and underrepresented founders, to pursue their ideas despite resistance. Explain the mission and impact of The Gathering Spot as more than a coworking space—positioning it as a cultural, economic, and social hub. Encourage long-term thinking about Black business growth, community wealth, and access to financial tools. Provide real-world lessons about fundraising, resilience, leadership, and community building. Key Takeaways 1. Success Is a Process, Not an Overnight Event Wilson emphasizes that The Gathering Spot took years of planning, pitching, and rejection before launching. The popular narrative of “instant success” hides the real work required. Takeaway: Consistency and belief matter more than early validation. 2. Rejection Can Be a Signal You’re Early—Not Wrong Wilson was told “no” 97 times before securing his first investor. Instead of discouragement, he saw rejection as proof that he was pursuing something others couldn’t yet see. Takeaway: If everyone understands your idea immediately, you might not be pushing far enough. 3. Atlanta Was a Strategic and Cultural Choice Atlanta was selected because of its Black leadership, business ecosystem, cultural influence, and sense of communal support. Wilson describes the city as both big and intimate—ideal for relationship building. Takeaway: Location matters, especially when building community-centered businesses. 4. The Gathering Spot Is About Belonging and Pride TGS intentionally celebrates Black culture while remaining open to all. The experience is designed to feel warm, affirming, and professional—something many members had never encountered in adult spaces. Takeaway: Spaces are never neutral; design should be intentional about who feels welcomed and valued. 5. Community Is the Product While TGS offers buildings, events, restaurants, and workspaces, Wilson is clear that the network is the real value—introducing people who otherwise may never meet. Takeaway: Relationships create opportunity faster than resources alone. 6. Fintech Is About Real Access, Not Just Education Wilson explains that after years of hosting conversations about money and wealth, TGS realized the next step was providing actual financial tools, not just dialogue. Takeaway: Empowerment requires both knowledge and access. 7. DEI Without Results Is Performative Wilson and McDonald discuss the post-2020 slowdown in corporate DEI efforts. Wilson challenges organizations to focus less on optics and more on outcomes—specifically business scale and job creation. Takeaway: The goal isn’t to “look good losing,” but to win sustainably. Notable Quotes On rejection: “It was 97 people that told us no in a row before we got to our first yes.” On purpose: “My mission is to connect people. I’m a community builder.” On fear and timing: “I didn’t want to have any regrets about not trying.” On intentional design: “I was thinking about Black folks when we were building The Gathering Spot.” On DEI efforts: “Do you really want to win or look good losing?” On scale and impact: “It’s not enough to start Black-owned businesses—we have to watch them grow.” #SHMS #BEST #STRAWSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, we ditch the science lecture and go straight to the energetics — breaking down the three manifestation methods that have been a core part of my daily practice for the past eight years, plus some exciting life updates.Get your Spot in Success Frequency: https://www.marleyrose.ca/success-frequencyWhat we cover:1. The Morning Unicorn ListWrite down 111 reasons why you are magical, unique, and worthy. Read it daily — ideally out loud in front of a mirror. Level up by recording your list in an app like Higher Self and playing it while you get ready or drive. Pro tip: turn your affirmations into "ask formations" — swap "I am so beautiful" for "How am I so beautiful?" Your brain loves finding answers to good questions.2. Digital Vision BoardsYour phone screen is one of the most powerful manifestation tools you own — you check it dozens of times a day. Create a vision board as your phone or laptop wallpaper and let your Reticular Activating System do the work. I share the story of how a Bali villa vision board led me to the exact property in real life. New upgrade: use AI to create realistic mock-ups of your goals (like a bank account screenshot with your target number) for an even stronger visual anchor. Message me on Instagram with "vision board" for a free template.3. Feeling It FirstThe real unlock isn't thinking your way into a manifestation — it's feeling like you already have the thing. Write it out with gratitude ("I am so grateful for $10k/month"), then genuinely embody that frequency. I share how this showed up with the Skinny Confidential — and why timing and trust matter more than we think. Also mentioned:Human design, sacral authority, and why my strategy is my sacralUsing Claude AI to explore your human design chartSuccess Frequency: a free 3-day live training on manifesting through vibrational alignment (link below)A small, intimate live event in Toronto on May 9 — feminine energetics, money, and magnetism (DM me on Instagram if you're called)Upcoming travels: Morocco, Madrid (ATP tennis tournament!), northern Spain, and back to CanadaResources:

We are surrounded by products that promise results without telling us what is inside. The real issue is not access, it is clarity. Annie Jackson, co-founder of Credo Beauty, shares how her journey from legacy beauty brands to building a clean beauty standard reshaped how products are made, vetted, and trusted. Press play to rethink what goes on our skin and why it matters: • Clean beauty standards and ingredient transparency • How to spot harmful chemicals in skincare • Why sustainability starts with packaging and sourcing • The rise of conscious consumers and Gen Z expectations • The challenge of building ethical beauty brands • What "better for you" really means in beauty Meet Annie: Annie Jackson is Co-Founder & CEO of Credo Beauty, a leading clean-beauty retailer she helped launch to bring high-performance, sustainably minded indie brands into mainstream retail. A beauty industry veteran, she began her career at Estée Lauder and was a founding team member at Sephora, experiences that shaped Credo's mission to prioritize ingredient transparency, safer formulations and sustainable packaging.  Under her leadership Credo has grown from a single Fillmore Street store to a national footprint, curating roughly 130 brands (the majority women-founded) and stewarding a rigorous Clean Standard and sustainability guidelines.  Annie is known for marrying retail expertise with a science-driven approach to product vetting and for championing accessibility and accountability in beauty. At a base gold price of $3,250 per ounce, the study outlines an after-tax Net Present Value (NPV) of $635 million and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 27%, nearly triple the value from the previous prefeasibility analysis. At current spot prices near $4,500, the project's potential soars to a $1.4 billion NPV with a 50% IRR, underscoring exceptional leverage to gold markets. The 11-year open-pit mine will produce roughly 90,000 ounces of gold equivalent annually, supported by strong copper demand, simple near-surface mining conditions, and full permitting. All operational licenses including mine, industrial, and environmental permits are secured and non-revocable under Wyoming law, removing a major development risk.Capital expenditure is projected at $400 million, including a healthy contingency buffer. US Gold plans to lower costs through used equipment purchases and contractor negotiations, taking advantage of abundant local mining services. Debt financing proposals cover up to 80 percent of the required capital, with favorable terms reflecting the project's de-risked status.Further upside includes recovering 300,000 ounces of gold from tailings boosting recoveries from 70% to over 97% and monetizing waste rock valued at $800 million to $1 billion as construction aggregate. The company is also examining cyanide-free processing alternatives to improve sustainability. With commodity prices near record highs and North American mining assets in short supply, Copper King stands out as a shovel-ready, financed, and fully permitted project. Executive Chairman Luke Norman calls it “a uniquely de-risked opportunity” poised to benefit from a mining sector hungry for secure, high-return developments.View U.S. Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/us-gold-corpSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

EPISODE 701 - Julie A Swanson - North of Tomboy, Trying to Find Your Spot and Fit In As A KidIn this episode of Living The Next Chapter, Dave sits down with author Julie A. Swanson to talk about her novel North of Tomboy and the real-life experiences that shaped it. Julie shares that she has been writing since childhood, creating handmade books her mom would “send off to be published,” even though nothing actually happened with them. Although she originally dreamed of being a writer, she was steered into math and science, studied biomedical engineering, and later became a high school math and science teacher and basketball coach before finally returning to her first love of writing while home with her children.Julie explains the long and winding journey to publication, including working with major publishers who requested extensive revisions that often pulled the story away from what felt true. She describes how, in trying to please big publishers, she temporarily lost touch with the heart of her stories and eventually realized she needed to trust her gut. With North of Tomboy, she restored the manuscript closer to her original vision, kept only the editorial changes that truly strengthened it, and ultimately found a home with a smaller press that embraced the book as it was meant to be.The conversation dives into the deeply personal roots of North of Tomboy. The book is based heavily on Julie's childhood as a girl who felt out of step with traditional expectations of femininity, preferred sports and “boy” activities, and could not find herself represented in the books she read. She talks about wanting to write the story she desperately needed as a middle-schooler: a realistic, empathetic portrait of a kid who does not feel at home in the typical girl box but is not being pushed toward any agenda or label. Julie clarifies that while the book is categorized in spaces that might include LGBTQ-related tags, it is not political, does not use contemporary identity terminology, and is written strictly from the honest inner experience of a child in the 1970s trying to make sense of her feelings.Julie and Dave also explore grief, family, and sports as central themes. Her earlier novel about a high school athlete dealing with a father's terminal illness was inspired by real athletes she knew and by her own father's battle with cancer. She describes watching different young women respond in very different ways to the loss of their fathers, from losing all interest in sports to playing harder “for Dad,” and how those stories fed into her fiction. For North of Tomboy and its planned series, she spent decades drafting, revising, and even following a powerful dream that nudged her toward a specific word count before resubmitting the manuscript, ultimately leading to acceptance.Throughout the episode, Julie reflects on how much the cultural landscape has changed for kids who feel different compared with her childhood, when there were no words or open conversations about gender expression and identity. She notes that if puberty blockers had existed and been widely discussed when she was young, she might have begged for them, even though in hindsight that would not have been right for her. https://www.julieswanson.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca

A bad experience with a lawyer can change everything - and sometimes it shapes who you become. The Lawyer Stories Podcast Episode 263 features Robin Saghian, Partner at Omega Law Group, PC, a personal injury attorney based in Beverly Hills, California. Robin grew up in Los Angeles after immigrating from Iran at a young age, often helping his parents navigate language barriers and everyday challenges. At just 10 years old, he watched his father go through a serious accident - and what he now recognizes as a mishandled legal case that failed to secure proper medical care and resulted in a quick, inadequate settlement. That experience stayed with him - and ultimately became the reason he chose to pursue a career in law. Today, Robin works alongside his brother at Omega Law Group, bringing a close-knit, client-first approach to every case. He understands that personal injury cases aren't just legal - they impact real lives, families, and livelihoods. Chaos Doesn't Have to Win - Maintaining Order in the Midst of AI Change

If you're an engineering leader right now, everything around you feels like it's changing at once — new tools, new processes, new expectations. It's tempting to accept chaos as the new normal, but in today's episode, I make the case that your job is to go on the offense and *create* order. Not by clinging to old processes, but by becoming the groundskeeper of your team's ceremonies — the regular, repeated actions that give your team a foundation to actually improve from. Humans Are the Limiting Factor (And That's Okay): Our fundamental cognitive capabilities haven't changed in tens of thousands of years. Progress is collective — better tools, better documentation, better knowledge systems — but individually, our brains work the same way they always have. Any process that involves humans has to account for this. Why Ceremony Matters More Than Ever: Whether you call them scrum ceremonies, team rituals, or just "the way we work," regular and repeated team actions aren't bureaucratic overhead. They're how humans learn, build comfort, and reduce cognitive load. Just like sitting in the same seat at your coffee shop or driving the same route to work, repeated patterns free up mental energy for the things that actually require your attention. Regularity of Action Over Specific Process: This isn't a prescription for scrum or kanban or any particular framework. The point is that your team has some determined, repeated way of doing things — whether that's a weekly planning session, a daily standup, or a trigger-based refinement process. The specific process matters less than the consistency. Ceremony Enables Experimentation: If you want to get better, you need to be able to change one variable at a time and measure the result. That's impossible when everything is changing at once. Holding your core processes steady gives you the controlled environment you need to actually learn what's working and what isn't. Spot the Anomalies: When you maintain regularity, deviations become visible. If productivity dips but your ceremonies stayed constant, you have a much better shot at diagnosing what actually changed. Without that baseline, every signal gets lost in the noise. Episode Homework: Sit down with your team this week and talk about what your ceremonies are. What do you want to hold constant? What do you want to be true on a regular basis? Name them, write them down, and commit to tending them — even as everything else shifts around you.

This week marks the launch of a brand new series on the podcast: Film The Fall, where we sit down with some of the best producers in the game to talk all things filming whitetail hunts. In this series, we dive into the gear they trust, the strategies behind capturing a hunt the right way, and what it really takes to turn a moment in the woods into a powerful story on screen. From close calls to once-in-a-lifetime encounters, we break down real hunts through the eyes of the guys behind the camera. To kick things off, we're joined by Cody Cooper, a seasoned producer who's worked with Lee & Tiffany on The Crush TV, Lee Ellis, and the Seek One crew. Cody walks us through his journey in the industry, how he got to where he is today, and what he's learned along the way. We also take a deep dive into one of the most talked-about hunts in recent memory, Lee Ellis' spot-and-stalk Kansas buck in the rain. Cody was behind the camera for that hunt, and in this episode, you'll hear the full story from his perspective , the challenges, the decisions, and what it took to capture it all in the moment. If you've ever wanted a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into filming a whitetail hunt, this is one you won't want to miss. Enjoy. . .
