This tune of O'Carolan's has a classical, ethereal sound. I dedicate it to Laurence Diehl, friend of O'Carolan's music and inspiring to all us little folk.

That was a real pleasure to work with a great musician, thanks Laurence.

Berghan & Diehl – Sittin’ on Top of the World. Laurence Diehl, Banjo - Tom Berghan, Bass Banjo & Vocal - This was originally a video that Laurence made. Tom "ripped" the video's audio from YouTube, saved it as an MP3, and then added the bass, vocal, and percussion. We call the style "Swamp Grass" ;-)

Well, Laurence and I were at again with more of what we call BoogieGrass! . . . And maybe a little BeBopGrass thrown in there too! This time we are taking a stroll down to the corner of 18th and Vine with Earl’s Foggy Mountain Special! Laurence Diehl is on Banjo (awesome!) and Tom Berghan is on Fretless Bass Banjo. If you like it, let us know and be sure to hit the like button. And, if you don’t like it, then I suggest you please consider enjoying some well aged distilled spirit and then try listening again! I can’t help it now . . . I gotta brag on my duo partner Laurence . . . you certainly just don’t hear banjo played like THIS every day!

Thanks Laurence for this great addition. Honored to collaborate with you! One of my favorite songs ever gets even better!
© Laurence Diehl 2010 This never feels finished but I had to move on... I have been listening lately to Andalusian music and also the Oud playing of Anour Brahem. It's all in there somewhere!

© Laurence Diehl 2009 I have always wanted to play this Django-influenced style of music. Never thought I might be playing it on the banjo...

© Laurence Diehl 2009In Eb - hence the title. Sounds like something from the 1920's or before - just sort of wrote itself.
© Laurence Diehl 2007Since there is no category for Eastern European voodoo music I am calling it "Gypsy banjo" or maybe "Jazz"
