Hi—and welcome back to Horror Movie Podcast, where we're Dead Serious About Horror Movies. Here in Episode 228, emeritus host Jay of the Dead welcomes Pastor Matt, Jigsaw Jackson, and emeritus host Dr. Walking Dead—with more alumni like Dr. Shock and Gillman Joel contributing later. During this historic show, Pastor Matt introduces the new HMP 3.0 roster, officially welcoming two new hosts, Horror Movie Fanboy Brian Scott and Horror Fan Ryan Bratton! Next, the two new hosts share their Top 5 All-Time Favorite Horror Movies and recall their favorite HMP memories. But the bulk of this episode is dedicated to a theme of "Cold, Hard Horror" movies, where your hosts take three (and a half) rounds to recommend more than 50 lesser-discussed snowbound horror films that take place in the midst of a wintry setting. Each of the rounds features reviews and recommendations from the panel of hosts. Then your hosts deliver a lively Speed Round of additional icy horror highlights, just to quickly name-drop a few more worthy titles for you listeners! And as promised, Dr. Shock and Gillman Joel contribute a wacky segment of their own prior to Jay of the Dead's bonus “review for the road” in a concluding Final Cut segment. In addition, during Episode 228, you will hear Jackson's new theme music for HMP by his band, hello softie., a track titled "Sometimes It Rains in April" from the album, With Heavy Eyes and Bated Breath. Finally, as we wrap up this episode, Pastor Matt shares his thoughts on the future direction of HMP 3.0 and teases some exciting, upcoming episodes. This episode was recorded on August 16, 24, and 25, 2025. Thanks for listening! Daily Soap Opera Spoilers by Soap Dirt (GH, Y&R, B&B, and DOOL)
Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt General Hospital sees Drew Cain, portrayed by Cameron Mathison, is livid with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) for divulging his secret affair with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and ruining his wedding to Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen). However, Drew plans to hold his wrath and bide his time, aiming to exact cold, calculated revenge against Curtis on the ABC soap opera. GH sees Drew not only plans to target Curtis personally, but also professionally, potentially involving Curtis's friends and family in the fallout. Possible targets include Stella Henry (Vernee Watson), Curtis's aunt who helped Martin Gray (Michael E Knight) with an insurance issue, and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), who tampered with Heather Webber's (Alley Mills) test results. Drew also hopes to disrupt Curtis's business, Aurora Media, and may even target Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), a friend and ally of Curtis. General Hospital sees Drew's plan also involves discrediting Michael as an opioid addict, thus aiding Willow in regaining custody of her children. If successful, this could potentially pave the way for Drew to win Willow back. Furthermore, Drew might use Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), Curtis's daughter, to hurt him. By pairing Trina's ex-boyfriend, Kai, with a new girl, Drew hopes to make Trina jealous and upset her parents. Today on the Murder Diaries, we are honored to sit down with our friend Madison McGhee. She's the creator and the voice behind "Ice Cold Case," a deeply personal and powerful investigative podcast about her father's unsolved murder. Like many of us, Madison grew up drawn to true crime stories, watching shows like America's Most Wanted, but at 16, she learned something that would permanently shift her relationship to those stories. Her father's own death, which she had long believed was due to a heart attack, was actually a homicide. With "Ice Cold Case," Madison brings listeners into the heart of her investigation. It's one that spans decades, family secrets, and her own search for truth. Now she's also launched "LA Crimes," a new podcast exploring historic and lesser known cases in Los Angeles. We're so excited to talk to Madison about the intersection of personal and professional storytelling, the emotional labor behind true crime reporting and what exactly it means to seek justice in the digital age. One of the juiciest Trawls of all time starts in a very dramatic manner. Jemma and Marina want you to dig out the popcorn while they spill the tea on everything that has happened since they last gathered behind their mics. What a time to be alive! Last week, Musk broke the internet as his bromance with Trump imploded in real time via increasingly outlandish tweets between the two billionaires, like toddlers duelling, onlywith tweets instead of swords. Then, in a huge crescendo no one could have predicted, Musk suddenly declared to the world that Trump is in the Epstein Files. BOOM! And just like that the bromance was over - although now, all incriminating tweets have been deleted and it appears to be vaguely on again. What is it they say about women being too 'emotional' for positions of power? This episode is stuffed with incredible takes and content, it's a veritable smorgasbord of the very best the internet has to offer at times like this. Then the Trawl ladies discuss what is happening in LA, the protests, Trump's over reach with the Federal Guard and how the governor of California is fighting back. They also discuss how ICE are treating people and which clips have affected them the most. Settle in, it's a packed one. Enjoy! Monday Headlines: Scomo among hundreds on King’s Honours list, National Guard arrives in LA against anti-ICE protests, candlelight vigils held for Pheobe Bishop, a record number of young Aussies are working more than one part-time job and three quarters of Aussies don’t know their neighbours. Deep Dive: The Big Freeze is an annual event that’s become a highlight of the AFL’s King’s Birthday clash for more than a decade. It features Aussie celebrities and sport stars in blue beanies plunging into ice baths as part of the pre-match entertainment. But behind the spectacle is a powerful campaign raising awareness and funds for motor neurone disease or MND. After a 3-3 road trip through the land of transplanted teams and lakes with too many names, The Put it in the Books Show is back with its second episode of Season 8! Farace, Rodriguez, and Keith are on deck, while Producer Joe takes the night off—probably still recovering from his scouting trip to find the best hot dog stand at Target Field. The Mets head back to Citi Field with an 11-7 record, a team ERA of 2.38 (best in baseball), and an offense that continues to hit like it's allergic to the month of April. They're batting .219 as a team (21st in MLB), which somehow looks worse when you realize half of the team's errors belong to Francisco Lindor, who apparently wanted to make sure fans stayed warm by keeping the gloves moving. But are Mets fans overreacting to the defensive struggles of an elite shortstop, or should we expect cleaner play from a guy getting paid like a defensive anchor? In center field, Jose Siri is hurt—again. So who should get the majority of the playing time? The crew debates whether the next man up is the answer or just a placeholder until someone actually hits .250.And in what can only be described as the most Mets thing ever, Francisco Alvarez homered in a rehab game, then got hit on the exact same hand he broke. Luckily, he's going to be okay—but is the universe just messing with us at this point?Plus: do injuries sometimes fast track the future? With younger players being thrown into the fire earlier than expected, are we getting a sneak preview of what the next generation of Mets might look like? And should we be concerned that said sneak preview includes a .219 team average? We'll also preview the upcoming seven-game homestand against the Cardinals and Phillies, which means we're about to find out whether the Mets are contenders, pretenders, or just really good at ruining Philly fans' weeks.Join us for all that, plus dry humor, overreactions, and Rodriguez trying to claim he predicted this pitching dominance all along. It's Season 8, Episode 2. Let's put it in the books!
Between Marcus Semien, Joc Pederson and Jake Burger, which player are you panicking the most about through the Rangers' first 17 games?
From 'Play Tessie' (subscribe here): Not only was the weather cold, but so was the Red Sox offense which Gordo, Sammy, and Pat focus on with a walk-off win salvaging a home series with the Blue Jays? How angry and frustrated should Sox fans be with three of four losses this early in the season to a division rival? Then, it was historically cold at Fenway Park and the lineup couldn't warm things which begs the question of the weather being an excuse for the bats being so quiet and Garrett Crochet not quite being his dominant self. And, Connor Wong's injury reminds fans how valuable he may be and saluting Jarren Duran for bravely sharing his story about his mental health struggles as shown in the Netflix documentary. “She Was Ice Cold” – The Chilling Phone Call That Changed the Maddie Soto Case In this gripping deep dive, we explore the disturbing details surrounding the murder of 13-year-old Madeline “Maddie” Soto and the man accused of killing her—Stephan Sterns. Through newly released 2025 jailhouse phone calls between Sterns and his parents, we hear the chilling moment he admits to finding Maddie's lifeless body and discusses her death in hauntingly casual terms. With the public now hearing his voice for the first time, Sterns' words paint a disturbing picture of regret, denial, and a fatal awareness of the death penalty he may soon face. This episode examines how those calls flipped the case upside down. We'll also break down the latest forensic evidence revealed by investigators, including the cadaver dog alert in Sterns' car and surveillance footage that prosecutors say disproves his original alibi. Combined with the digital evidence pulled from Sterns' phone and Google accounts—allegedly containing years of sexually abusive material involving Maddie—the case against him has only grown stronger. Hear how the prosecution is building a timeline they believe proves premeditated murder and how Sterns' own shifting story may be his downfall. Finally, we look ahead to the courtroom battles already in motion—from defense motions to suppress key evidence to the fight over whether this capital case should play out in public or behind closed doors. With the murder trial scheduled for later this year and the state pushing hard for the death penalty, the Maddie Soto case continues to unravel in ways no one saw coming.
