This week we revisit our conversation with the former Chief Judge of the County Court of Victoria, The Hon. Peter Kidd. During his first few years in a commercial firm, Peter was unsure if law was for him, but a decision to move to crime ignited his passion for the profession. After his time at the Commonwealth DPP, he went to the bar and was quickly working on very large and often high profile cases, honing his skills and advocacy style, often under immense pressure. Peter also managed to combine his love of travel with his love of the law, working as a prosecutor at the War Crimes Tribunal in Bosnia; another challenging, enriching and fascinating chapter of his career. Our episode covers all of this and of course his role as The Chief, and is an enlightening and fascinating conversation.www.greenslist.com.au/podcast

In an hour marked by confusion, cultural shaking, and spiritual hunger, one of the most urgent questions facing the Church is this: Are prophets and apostles still meant to function in the body of Christ today? For many, the terms apostle and prophet feel distant — tied to the early Church or misused in modern expressions. Others have seen these roles distorted by self-promotion or misunderstood through the lens of hierarchy. But what if the absence of these foundational gifts has left the Church in America vulnerable, incomplete, and out of order? This message confronts the misconceptions and tensions surrounding apostolic and prophetic ministry in our generation. It draws from the New Testament blueprint and highlights the progression of church reform — from Luther's call to faith, to the outpourings of the Spirit, to the rediscovery of the gifts — leading us to this current moment where God is once again restoring His house.

In this episode, we dive into one of the defining marks of true discipleship: the ability to be corrected without fear or offense. What does it mean to be led, not just affirmed? Pastor Paul shares powerful insight on the role of spiritual leadership, the necessity of submission, and why everyone needs a pastor. From personal stories of accountability to the sobering truth that love sometimes says the hard thing, this message confronts the idea that comfort equals care. Correction isn't rejection—it's refinement. And in this hour, God is raising up people who can carry weight, lead with integrity, and stand before kings with boldness. But before we stand before kings, we must first submit to the shaping of the King.Tune in to be challenged, encouraged, and reminded that God's design for discipleship includes both love and truth—and both are essential for lasting transformation.
Sermon preached by The Very Rev. Dr. Reggie Kidd on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Lindsay is joined by author Samuel Marquis to discuss his book, “Captain Kidd: A True Story of Treasure and Betrayal,” which will be released on May 13, 2025, by Diversion Books. Captain Kidd has captivated imaginations for over 300 years and inspired many stories about pirates, but was he a criminal? Just how many ships did he plunder, how many men did he force to walk the plank, and how many throats did he slit? Or is the truth more inconvenient, that he was a buccaneer's worst nightmare, a revered pirate hunter turned fall guy for scheming politicians? In “Captain Kidd,” Marquis reveals the real story. Kidd was an English-American privateer and a leading New York husband and father, dubbed “trusty and well-beloved” by the King of England himself and described by historians as a “worthy, honest-hearted, steadfast, much-enduring sailor” who was the “victim of a deliberate travesty of justice.” With honors far more esteemed than the menacing Blackbeard or any other sea rover at the turn of the 17th century, how can Kidd be considered both a gentleman and pirate, both hero and villain? The ninth-great-grandson of legendary privateer Captain William Kidd, Samuel Marquis, M.S., P.G., is a professional hydrogeologist, expert witness, and bestselling, award-winning author of 12 American nonfiction-history, historical fiction, and suspense books, covering primarily the period from colonial America through WWII. His American history and historical fiction books have been #1 Denver Post and Amazon bestsellers, and have received multiple national book awards in both fiction and nonfiction categories, including the Kirkus Reviews and Foreword Reviews Book of the Year, American Book Fest and USA Best Book, Readers' Favorite, and the Colorado Book Awards. His historical titles have also garnered glowing reviews from #1 bestseller James Patterson, maritime historians, U.S. military veterans, Kirkus Reviews, and Foreword Reviews (5 Stars). His pirate book, “Blackbeard: The Birth of America,” has been an Amazon #1 Bestseller in U.S. Colonial Period History. The Marquis lives with his wife in Louisville, Colorado, where they raised their three children. Become a member on Buy Me A Coffee for as little as $1/month to support the show. Base Camp: The Complete Guide to Mentoring by Martin Kidd Amazon.com Base Camp is a "how-to" book. It is written as a light, non-academic look at how one become a mentor and why. It includes an opportunity for reflection, preparation, action, and reaction. From the opening page that outlines the ideal reader, to the final page that completes the mentoring process, there are suggestions and anecdotes designed to make the potential mentor understand the rationale and process that makes up the mentoring relationship. Mentoring is more than just a chat in the corridor. It is achieved successfully only with a combination of self-awareness, vulnerability, trust, and respect without judgement on the part of the mentor. This book helps to unlock these characteristics. The target market includes an international and multi-disciplinary audience: I have tried to make the information relevant to all professions where professional support is necessary, across any geographical boundaries.

What if spiritual growth isn't instant—but a divine progression? In this message, we explore the path from believer to disciple, servant to friend, and ultimately to sonship. Discipleship is messy, human, and necessary. But when rooted in God's Word and His heart, it transforms us into people who reflect the nature and inheritance of Christ.

[03:45] DIANNA RUSSINI JOINS THE SHOWMultiple teams have reportedly reached out to the Bengals to inquire about trading for wide receiver Tee Higgins. Cincinnati has remained firm in their stance on Higgins, but with trade interest growing, will they eventually make a move? Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has reportedly requested a trade, with the team setting a high asking price of a first- and third-round pick. With rumors swirling about a potential trade involving Joey Bosa, what kind of market does the star pass rusher have? [15:24] DOES SGA HAVE THE MVP LOCKED UP?Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been on an absolute tear, setting a record for the fewest games between his first and fourth 50-point performances with just 19. His scoring dominance has propelled the Oklahoma City Thunder to a Western Conference-best 50-11 record, making him the clear frontrunner for MVP. He currently leads the league in both points per game (32.6) and total points (1,957). With SGA now sitting at -650 odds to win the award, is there any real competition left for the MVP, or is it already locked up? [26:20] SHOULD COOPER FLAGG RETURN TO DUKE?During Duke's final home game of the season, fans erupted into chants urging Cooper Flagg to "run it back" for another year. Flagg seemed to acknowledge the moment, raising his finger as if signaling his return, while his father made the same gesture in the stands. Reports suggest that Flagg could consider withdrawing from the 2025 NBA Draft if he is unhappy with the team that lands the No. 1 overall pick. With his NIL deals already totaling $4.8 million, making him the highest-paid college player, does he actually have a reason to stay at Duke for another year? [37:25] JASON KIDD ON KYRIE IRVING'S INJURYKyrie Irving was playing heavy minutes in the weeks leading up to his injury, averaging 39.3 per game—more than any other player in that span. After Irving went down, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd pushed back against any criticism regarding the team's handling of his workload, calling the injury a "freak accident." Is Kidd right to dismiss concerns about overuse, or is this a sign that the Mavericks are mismanaging their stars? With Irving sidelined, how much trouble is Dallas in for the rest of the season?
