The man who turned around a WestJet flight from Toronto to Jamaica on Monday just two hours into the flight says he did it in an attempt to go viral. On the flight the 29 year old man stood up and announced he had contracted the coronavirus on a recent trip to China. The man then proceeded to take selfies. Turns out, it was a prank. The man did not have the virus, and though the pilot thought it was a hoax to begin with, they still had to follow protocol. Two other flights were cancelled due to the incident. The Thornhill man has since been charged with mischief. The woman who has become known as “chair girl” who also went to extremes for online attention is in the news again today.
