As the FBI's investigation of local Boston art thieves fades, its investigation of crews linked to the Italian mob ramps up. Agents begin to focus on the men who are associated with Carmello Merlino's gang. But the 1990s proves to be a deadly time to be involved with the Merlino crew, and suspects start dying. Eventually, the FBI declares partial victory and announces that it knows the identities of the thieves, but it does not know the location of the stolen items to this day. This week in the third and final installment of our interview, Derrike Cope talks about his relationship … or lack thereof … with Dale Earnhardt and talk that his win in the 1990 Daytona 500 was nothing more than a fluke. We then tackle the June 7, 1990 issue of Winston Cup Scene. Derrike Cope wins at Dover ... and nobody has anything snarky to say about this one. Larry Pearson's fledgling Winston Cup career takes a massive hit when the team owned by his dad, the legendary David Pearson, is forced to shut down due to the lack of a sponsor. Finally, Joe Whitlock has his say about the state of journalism. NOTE: This show is not associated in any way with American City Business Journals, owner of the Scene brand. In this riveting episode of No Way, Jose!, host Jose Galison sits down with Kirk Lyons, the controversial lawyer behind the Southern Legal Resource Center (SLRC), often viewed as the legal backbone of the neo-Confederate movement. With a client list tied to flashpoints like Waco, Ruby Ridge, and the Oklahoma City bombing, Lyons has rubbed shoulders with polarizing figures such as Richard Butler, Louis Beam, William Pierce, and Bo Gritz. True to the show's parapolitical roots, Jose approaches Lyons with a mix of curiosity and caution, digging into the murky connections between the far-right and potential intelligence operations. This conversation explores Lyons' motivations and the broader context of his work, questioning whether he's a staunch defender of free speech or entangled in something deeper, all while keeping an open mind about his true role. With No Way, Jose!'s trademark skepticism of official narratives, Jose navigates the complexities of Lyons' career, from his defense of militia groups to his ties to the extremist fringes. The episode wrestles with the uneasy tension between representing unpopular causes and the suspicion of hidden agendas, especially given the shadowy intersections of government and far-right movements. Galison's thoughtful probing invites listeners to ponder the bigger picture: where does Lyons fit in the web of dissent, law, and power? Tune in for a nuanced, thought-provoking discussion that challenges assumptions, leaving you to decide what's really at play in this enigmatic lawyer's story. Please consider supporting my work-Patreon- https://www.patreon.com/nowayjose2020Only costs $2/month and will get you access to episodes earlier than the publicNo Way, Jose! Sony-owned Santa Monica Studio is one of PlayStation's first party powerhouses. Responsible for the God of War franchise -- and, other than Kinetica early in the PS2 era, only the God of War franchise -- there was some excitement building about what was next. But what if it's just more God of War... at least kinda? New rumors indicate that Santa Monica is working on something more familiar than we might have hoped, and from our perspective, that can only mean one thing. We discuss. Plus: Sucker Punch expresses interest in returning to Infamous, Ghost of Yotei gets special edition PS5 hardware and a DualSense, HBO's second season of The Last of Us earns a ton of Emmy nominations, concept art for Deviation's cancelled PlayStation exclusive emerges, Dragon Quest VII is apparently being remade at Square Enix, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! With the demise of Xbox's Turn 10 Studio, is it time for PlayStation to port Gran Turismo to its rival's machine? Is Colin totally off-base with his desire for Arc System Works to create a PlayStation fighter instead of a Marvel one? What's the worst example in our personal gaming lives of losing a save file? Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, four University of Idaho students in their 20s, were brutally murdered inside their off-campus home in the early morning hours on November 13, 2022. Two surviving roommates and a heartwrenching 911 call led police to discover the friends stabbed to death inside the three-story house at 1122 King Road. The safe place that once rang with parties, TikTok dances and laughter, was eerily silenced, surrounded by a nationwide media circus and sealed with crime scene tape. The murderer, Bryan Kohberger, a Ph.D student at Washington State University, pled guilty to all counts in exchange for the death penalty to be taken off the table. But still, the families of the victims, and everyone who has been consumed by this case since day one, want to know why Kohberger took these innocent lives.Made With Kindness is a nonprofit organization started in honor of Kaylee Goncalves, Maddie Mogen, and Xana Kernodle.
