This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! High in the mountains of Bisbee, Arizona, stands a hotel built during the height of the copper boom — a grand structure meant to showcase wealth, innovation, and the promise of a growing Western city. When the Copper Queen Hotel opened in 1902, Bisbee was the largest urban center between St. Louis and San Francisco, alive with miners, rail travelers, and fortune-seekers. More than a century later, the Copper Queen still welcomes guests… but not all of them are living. Arizona's oldest continuously operating hotel has hosted icons like John Wayne, Marlon Brando, and Harry Houdini. Yet the names most often whispered through its halls belong to those who linger long after checkout: Julia Lowell, a young boy known as Billy, and the elusive “Smoking Man.” In this episode of The Grave Talks, we sit down with Jenna Lampinen to explore the legends, encounters, and unexplainable moments tied to one of Arizona's most famously haunted hotels. This episode kicks off our coverage of the only unsolved airplane hijacking in United States history. On November 24, 1971, a nondescript man boarded a flight to Seattle. He wore a dark suit. He carried a briefcase. As the plane took off, he told the flight attendants that he had a bomb. He demanded $200,000 in ransom money, plus four parachutes. The airline, along with federal agents, scrambled to meet his demands. When the plane landed in Seattle, he allowed the passengers to leave. Then the man – who would later be known as D.B. Cooper – instructed the crew to fly him to Mexico. His instructions revealed a high level of knowledge about the Boeing 727 jet. And then? He did the unthinkable. He parachuted out of the plane with the ransom money in tow, never to be heard from again. Remember, kids, history hoes always cite their sources! For this episode, Kristin pulled from: The book, “Skyjack: The Hunt for D.B. Cooper,” by Geoffrey Gray The documentary, “DB Cooper: Where are you?!” The documentary, “The Mystery of DB Cooper” “Who was the mysterious hijacker D.B. Cooper?” by Ella Morton for History.com “D.B. Cooper Hijacking, FBI.gov “The missing piece of the D.B. Cooper story,” by Andrea Marks for Rolling Stone Are you enjoying An Old Timey Podcast? The renewed release of information surrounding Jeffrey Epstein's network has highlighted a striking shift among groups that previously positioned themselves as vocal crusaders against child exploitation and elite corruption. During the height of Epstein's second arrest in 2019, many of the loudest online voices—particularly those aligned with the QAnon movement—used Epstein's case as a rallying point, framing it as proof of a hidden global cabal and leveraging public outrage to fuel a sprawling conspiracy narrative. However, as real legal developments, survivor testimony, and documented links to high-profile individuals have resurfaced in recent months, those same factions have largely retreated from the discussion, offering little public support for transparency or accountability.Critics argue that the earlier conflation of the Epstein case with sensationalized conspiracy content served to obscure legitimate evidence and undermine public focus at a critical moment, ultimately benefiting the powerful figures and institutions implicated in the scandal. Today, instead of calling for investigations or defending survivors, many former activists have shifted to skepticism about Epstein's crimes or have echoed narratives minimizing Ghislaine Maxwell's role. The contrast between their previous public posture and their current silence has raised questions about motives, credibility, and whether the distraction generated at the peak of the case was accidental or strategic.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Infamous pro-Trump conspiracy theorists have been 'strangely muted' on the Epstein scandal - Alternet.org

Greed and addiction fueled a chaotic and coldblooded crime on September 28, 1953. The largest ransom request in American History at the time was demanded of Kansas City's wealthiest automobile dealer, Robert Greenlease, in exchange for his 6 year old son and namesake, Bobby Greenlease. Money wasn't the problem and the Greenleases' wasted no time to comply, it should have been cut and dry, but it is far from it. 72 year old Charles Ross was a year into his peaceful retirement after a lucrative career in real estate, followed by President of the prominent George S. Carrington greeting card company, when he found himself at the wrong place at the wrong time just outside of Chicago. John Seadlund, who'd been influenced by John Dillinger's gang member Tommy Carroll and who had evaded the FBI for years, stole much more than Ross's golden years leading FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover to manage the investigation personally. The case would earn Seadlund the nickname “The Nation's Cruelest Criminal”. When Maggie and Paul Murdaugh are killed on their family's estate in 2021, the investigation unravels a history of privilege, corruption, and suspicious deaths tied to one of South Carolina's most influential families. But beneath the headlines and courtroom drama are stories of people who never got justice, mysteries still unsolved, and a justice system that let one family operate above the law for nearly a century. As appeals move forward and the possibility of a new trial looms, one question remains – why would a man who had everything risk it all by brutally murdering his own family? Additional infoStephen SmithIn 2023, South Carolina law enforcement officially declared Stephen Smith's death a homicide, rather than a traffic accident, but still, it's never been fully explained and no one has ever been arrested in connection with it.
