Before we multiverse, we must re-visit the origin.Jake + Mitch trek back to 2016 and dive back into one of the more start-studded MCU installments, 'Doctor Strange'. Because the familiar as the character has become it still feels like this movie still flies a little under the radar. Along the way the guys ask big questions:- Can a move be good and "mid" at the same time?- What if Rachel McAdams was The Wasp?- Top 5 comic book movie ending of all-time?Through epic set pieces and impeccable effects, 'Doctor Strange' delivers on the entertainment factor. But somehow, it still lacks gusto.Be sure to give a listen, rate, and review!https://www.watchingcomics.com/HOSTS: @Thatjakeowens + @MitchRoush
The boys are back and start the show off by talking about Ric Flair's last match, which is happening in Nashville. Will Ric Flair die? Who knows. John saw Dr. Strange and gives some quick thoughts about it. The guys then discuss the mass shooting in Buffalo. How can we as a society stop it? Can we? Then we lighten the mood with Women's Soccer and UFO's! The show then jumps into the Mt. Rushmore of Close Calls or Near Death Experiences. It's a wacky one, that is worth the listen. And predictably, the movie PANDAMNED, by independent European filmmaker Marijn Poels, was immediately censored by Big Tech. The YouTube trailer for the movie was banned for violating the platform's terms of service for blaspheming against the infallible advice of local health authorities. The trailer and the movie are, however, available in full on Rumble. For the past two years, the world population has been under the spell of the coronavirus. Emergency regimes have been established, civil liberties have been dismantled, surveillance programs were being installed and an unprecedented global vaccination program has been rolled out. In PANDAMNED, Poels asks “are we doing the right thing, or did we make a deal with the devil in exchange for a benefit?” Through comprehensive interviews with critical and often censored voices from various areas of expertise, PANDAMNED tries to tell the whole story, not just the official, government and Big Tech-approved version of reality. Marijn Poels joins me tonight to discuss why he made PANDAMNED and how the public can stop the power grab the coronavirus enabled.
Call of the Day
GUEST HOST: DAVID MENZIES The other day, I was thinking about one of my all-time favourite films. It's a bit sci-fi, and a whole lot of horror. I speak of the 1978 reboot of the 1956 film, Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. As the title implies, the film's plot revolves around the replacement of people. When the alien lifeforms take over a person, they look exactly like their former human selves. I was reminiscing about this fantastic albeit frightening flick because lately I've been pondering: who is responsible for the body-snatching of Premier Doug Ford? GUEST: Avi Yemini

The Bone Wars, also known as the Great Dinosaur Rush,[1] was a period of intense and ruthlessly competitive fossil hunting and discovery during the Gilded Age of American history, marked by a heated rivalry between Edward Drinker Cope (of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia) and Othniel Charles Marsh (of the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale). Each of the two paleontologists used underhanded methods to try to outdo the other in the field, resorting to bribery, theft, and the destruction of bones. Each scientist also sought to ruin his rival's reputation and cut off his funding, using attacks in scientific publications. Our theme song was written and performed by Anna Bosnick. This month Bryan, Christina, and Jules explore the intersection of queer life and incarceration. How has America's prison-loving penal system shaped our history and present, and how does that experience get channeled—or not—into the culture we make and consume? The hosts are joined by Hugh Ryan, author of the new book The Women's House of Detention: A Queer History of a Forgotten Prison, which uses one infamous mid-century institution in New York's Greenwich Village to return the overlooked lives of incarcerated women and transmasculine folks to our collective story, and to make a stirring case for prison abolition as a queer issue. Then they discuss how prison shows up in pop culture—and whether they're entirely comfortable with those fantasies. Items discussed in the show: Selling Sunset Two recent articles on phalloplasty: “How Ben Got His Penis,” by Jamie Lauren Keiles in the New York Times, and “My Penis Myself,” by Gabriel Mac in New York Original Plumbing “Madison Cawthorn Thrusting His Naked Body on Another Man's Face Doesn't Tell Us Much About His ‘Gayness,' ” by Bryan in Slate Not Gay: Sex Between Straight White Men, by Jane Ward The Women's House of Detention: A Queer History of a Forgotten Prison, by Hugh Ryan When Brooklyn Was Queer, by Hugh Ryan Huey P.
