Het decor: een clandestiene kroeg in de New Yorkse wijk de Bronx van de jaren 30, de periode van de Drooglegging en de Grote Depressie, maar ook van alom bekende gangsters als Al Capone. King Scott is back from paternity leave, which means it's time for the proud new dad to tell us all about the miracle of childbirth while the rest of the show asks every inappropriate follow-up question imaginable. Why This Episode MattersTil Death The Speakeasy is literally hidden beneath a working funeral home outside Kansas City and unlike most modern “speakeasies,” it really isn't generally open to the public.  The room comes complete with a casket bar, an urn used to smoke cocktails, mysterious doors and at least one unexplained doorbell incident.  The basement's secret-drinking history predates its current owners: decades ago it reportedly served as a discreet drinking club for local Southern Baptists.  What started as a cocktail obsession became a charitable passion project, raising money for organizations including Veterans Community Project and inspiring Til Death's cocktail education program. BanterBefore heading underground, Mark and Francis find an object lesson in how not to communicate hospitality: a neighborhood restaurant whose storefront has slowly accumulated signs telling customers what NOT to do. In this solo episode, I'm reflecting on what happens when we finally begin to heal. But somewhere in the cracks, I began noticing flowers. A candle while I work. Tea on a rainy afternoon. Being present enough to actually recognize a beautiful moment while it's happening. Learning to rest was ultimately learning to trust, and I'm discovering that whimsy doesn't mean ignoring suffering, it means noticing God's goodness while you're still walking through the hard things.
