Despite the challenges, this hasn’t stopped him from devoting his life to others, through his work as a provider of medical care in his local community. As well as speaking with Kan Htoo Aung about his positive attitude to life, we also meet members of his family, as well as local members of the community who have benefitted from Kan Htoo Aung’s services.

Most of the children in the small settlement are forced to leave school early in order to work — sometimes in Thailand — as their mothers can’t afford the cost of schooling outside of the village. “I want my children to be literate. But I find difficult to send them to another school because I don’t have enough money. If there’s a high school here, it’ll be convenient. I take pity on the children. I want them to study further. But I can’t afford it,” she said. We will also be hearing the views of people about the increasing of basic food prices after increasing the government staff’s salary.
