In episode 549 of 'Coffee with Butterscotch,' the brothers dig into how short-form video fits into indie game marketing and why it should be part of development from the start. They talk about tools, storytelling, and the strange logic of YouTube Shorts and TikTok, then get into what engagement metrics actually mean and how to use them without overthinking it. The conversation focuses on experimenting, learning from the data, and using community feedback to shape both your game and your marketing.Support How Many Dudes!Official Website: https://www.bscotch.net/games/how-many-dudesTrailer Teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgQM1SceEpISteam Wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3934270/How_Many_Dudes00:00 Cold Open00:25 Introduction and Welcome02:47 Creating Engaging Short-Form Content05:34 Tools and Techniques for Video Editing08:39 Understanding YouTube Shorts11:50 Crafting Compelling Stories in Shorts14:39 Experimentation and Iteration in Content Creation21:19 Engagement Strategies for Video Launches26:21 Understanding Video Performance Metrics28:38 The Importance of Stick Rate32:14 Algorithm Behavior and Video Longevity40:31 Translating Engagement into Sales44:38 Engagement Challenges with YouTube Shorts46:49 Analyzing Video Performance and Viewer Retention49:07 Understanding YouTube's Algorithm and Game Discovery54:11 The Importance of Video Structure and Viewer Engagement59:44 Identifying Signals of Success in Game Development01:03:46 Community Insights and Sharing Data for GrowthTo stay up to date with all of our buttery goodness subscribe to the podcast on Apple podcasts (apple.co/1LxNEnk) or wherever you get your audio goodness. Problematic gaming gets experienced in many households, but can be SO HARD to find any information about! Jennifer J. Park, PhD, has been working on gaming disorder since 2018. After realizing that New Zealand had no existing programs to help people specifically with gaming disorder, Jennifer set out to study this growing concern. Therapists and people at that time were accessing pre-existing addiction programs, but had nothing to help with gaming specifically. If you have a gamer at your house or know someone who may be spending a bit more time than others online gaming, this episode is one you won't want to miss!

In amongst the hurly burly of the end of the year and putting together the Coode Street Advent Calendar, Gary and Jonathan found time to sit down with long-time friend of the podcast (and most frequent guest!) Kij Johnson. We last spoke when Kij's most recent short story collection, The Privilege of the Happy Ending was published. Since then, Kij has been busy working on writing and developing role playing games, most notably the adaption of her fabulous novel The River Bank, which is out now in a gorgeous edition from Kobold Press with stunning art from Kathleen Jennings. In addition to all that, we talked about books, reading, and for a good while, the nature of farce. As always, our thanks to Kij for making time to talk to us. We hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did recording it.
In this Loser Talk episode the Double D's discuss their experience at the 2025 World Boardgaming Championships and talk about the games they played and all the other shenanigans that went on.

We touched the grass, ate the turkey and watched the sports ball. Video game discord trudged on. With these perspectives, we return to ai up to its old bull. Banana Fish has been released on Amazon Prime Video with a horrid case of the Computer voice for the english dub. Where Winds Meet's ai chat bots are being tricked into completing quests early. In other news, Team Cherry wants to make new things, Jeff Keighley has found a terrible portal and Kyle's voice is going out!
Gaming hosts Josh, Ryan and Ace are breaking down the biggest Game of the Year snubs and dubs in one of the most heated debates the gaming world sees every year. Which fan-favorites were unfairly left off the list, which surprise contenders actually earned their spot, and which so-called masterpieces weren't nearly as flawless as the hype suggested? We're taking a deep dive into how these decisions shape the future of video games, what the industry got right, and where the selection panel completely missed the mark. From overlooked indies to blockbuster giants, this episode covers it all—plus how this year's picks reflect major shifts happening across the gaming landscape. If you love video games and live for the annual award-season chaos, this is one can't-miss discussion from the Video Gamers Podcast! On this week's Random Encounter, we're taking a look at two very different narrative adventures!Back in the 2010s, Telltale Games reinvented the point-and-click adventure game with The Walking Dead, introducing new multiple paths and lasting choices. Unfortunately, they spread themselves a little too thin, and the studio closed. Thankfully, many of those developers went off to create their own studios, and that is how we got Dispatch, the new episodic superhero adventure game! Tom has played the entire season and can confidently say that it reaches, and maybe even exceeds, the heights of Telltale's output at its prime. Then, Audra is here with an indie narrative visual novel inspired by Nintendo DS Japanese adventure games like Ace Attorney and Hotel Dusk: Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved. Send us a textIn this week's episode we discussed a fascinating digital experiment exploring how players confront the end of the world, not in real life, but inside the online universe of ArcheAge. As the game's servers faced a scheduled shutdown, its community transformed the final days into a living laboratory: a place where grief, creativity, nostalgia, and chaos collided. We explore how players coped, connected, and created meaning in the face of a virtual apocalypse, and what their reactions reveal about how humans respond to endings, digital or otherwise. Our Links:Retrospect

This week on NAFC, the crew bounces between gaming, TV, and movie chaos before diving into the pastel-drenched world of Emma (2020).The gang opens with more talk about Plur1bus—because apparently it's got its hooks in everyone now—followed by their thoughts on Stranger Things Season 5 and where the show might be headed. Mox shares his experience seeing the CS:GO finals live in Hong Kong, which somehow involved more screaming than a metal concert.Izzy brings a little local flavor with his review of the Hong Kong film Love Lies, and then the crew jumps into their review of Emma (2020): matchmaking, mischief, pastels, and perfect collars.Support us on Patreon!
Ever start a podcast, forget the topic halfway through, and just start roasting your co-host instead? Yeah… that's this episode. We think we talked about KeyForge. Or maybe sandwiches. Either way, Wookie didn't stand a chance. Tune in for pure chaos, questionable logic, and top-tier banter that somehow turned into a full-on Wookie roast.
Worum geht's? There were several debuts on this day, such as Doctor Who and World of Warcraft, but also the final episode of Orange Lounge Radio was done right after my show, and we say goodbye. I will be hosting at Awesome Games Done Quick 2026 in January! Schedule will be posted in mid December. I am a sucker for the Picross series of nonogram games on the Nintendo Switch, and there are two new games celebrating Capcom and SNK, but they are twice the price of their predecessors. A US Lawmaker has taken aim at the use of Generative AI in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and calls for regulations to protect jobs. Vedinad, a nominee for Best Debut Indie Games at The Game Awards, has withdrawn his nomination because Megabonk is not his debut indie game release. Then we talk to Rob about Orange Lounge Radio: The Final.

Should AI usage in games be disclosed or not? According to the CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, the answer is no because everybody is using it now. However, Valve feels differently and Steam still labels games that have used some AI during production -- including recent hit ARC Raiders. In a couple of years, gamers probably won't care -- for now, some do. So should we or should we not label this stuff?Watch this podcast episode on YouTube and all major podcast hosts including Spotify.CLOWNFISH TV is an independent, opinionated news and commentary podcast that covers Entertainment and Tech from a consumer's point of view.
