The Tim Conway Jr. Show Hour 3 (3.3) Tim pays his respects to longtime KLOS-FM radio host Uncle Joe Benson, who’s died at the age of 76. He started his radio career in 1968. Then Tim recalls the heady days of interacting with another on-air great, Charlie Tuna. Aaaah, radio. Sigh. Those were the days. Amiright, kids? LA’s Metro D Line is making progress. When will the new line extension be open? It’s taken years already! And how ’bout that merch! Apparently social media is going crazy for the pithy tees! Also, Pokémon has just celebrated its 30th anniversary! Today following a friend’s funeral, Tim and his wife tried to go to Canter’s Deli but couldn’t get in because someone tried to light a guy on fire in the entranceway. How very LA. Founder of Pacific Coast Sportfishing shows Bill DePriest calls in to talk all things fins, floats and... fish. What's up with Jim Carrey’s face? He turned up in France to accept a César Award, and something was off about his appearance and mannerisms. Was it an impersonator, AI, or has he had cosmetic work done? It’s the latest conspiracy theory taking the world by storm!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Pokémon Day brought us the announcement of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves! These two titles will arrive in 2027 and we learn the three starters are Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua. We see very little of Pokémon Champions, but we know it arrives this April. Pokopia introduces both a cooking mechanic and a prop hunt mode. TPC also revealed a Game Boy toy that plays 45 songs in an inconvenient way. Happy National Get Over It Day! (Actually it's not get over it day and we totally messed this up). We kick off the episode by testing out our new "professional" green screen setup, avoiding "shrimp-backing" in our chairs. Erin recaps a rare date night at a microbrewery where Dan became best friends with random strangers. In fitness news, Erin gives an update on her Craig Conover 10K training—surviving a brutal, side-stitch-inducing 3-mile run—and her ongoing quest to do one pull up. She also shares her strategy of making a literal PowerPoint presentation to teach her reality TV hating friends about Southern Charm, and expresses her anxiety over an upcoming Adidas brand trip (fingers crossed for a "donut and hiking" group). Then, we dive into a massive Olympics and sports recap. We demand a scoring bonus for figure skater Amber Glenn after she won gold while on her period, debate ESPN's list of the most difficult sports (putting basketball over gymnastics is a crime). We also call out NBC for allegedly paying Snoop Dogg $500,000 a day, review the wildest Olympic drama (from the Mark Kennedy curling scandal to a biathlete confessing to infidelity on live TV), and praise Eileen Gu for flawlessly shutting down a dumb reporter's question. Plus, we discuss a corporate brand that blatantly copied Erin's unhinged purple tank top and yellow sweatband look for a TV commercial. Finally, we cover a wild story about a British Airways flight crew who had to be grounded after accidentally hallucinating on passenger-gifted THC gummy bears, and we call out Logan Paul's shady $16.5 million Pokémon card sale after shutting down the fractional NFT app that funded it. We wrap things up with a wholesome "No Bad, No Sad" story about a girl who corralled dozens of strangers—including pilots and flight attendants—at an airport baggage claim to give her friend Morgan the ultimate welcome home.

This week on PREVIOUSLY ON…, Jason and Rosie break down Paramount’s reported win in the bidding war for Warner Bros., after Netflix bows out. They also react to new trailers for Mortal Kombat II, the newly announced Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, and Steven Soderbergh’s next film, The Christophers, starring Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel. Next, they dive into Variety’s in-depth profile of incoming Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, examining the major challenges he faces as he takes the reins of the company and oversees powerhouse IP like Star Wars and Marvel, both of which have faced increasing uncertainty in recent years. They also cover the news that disgraced actor Jonathan Majors is set to star in an upcoming action film produced by conservative media company The Daily Wire, founded by Ben Shapiro. Finally, they unpack the controversy at this year’s BAFTAs, where Josh Davidson, a man with Tourette’s whose life inspired a nominated film, shouted a racial slur while Sinners stars Michael B. A plot twist in Hollywood has taken place in the last 24 hours, but in the spreadsheets rather than on the screens, as Netflix decides it's not willing to counter Paramount–Skydance's US$111bn bid for Warner Bros Discovery. We discuss what this means for the studio house that brought Bugs Bunny, the Looney Tunes, Harry Potter and the DC Universe to audiences worldwide. Vishala Sri-Pathma hears how US President Donald Trump has directed every federal agency to immediately stop using technology from Anthropic, as the row between the White House and the AI developer continues. Meanwhile, with the United States oil blockage of Cuba continuing for nearly a month, Will Grant reports on the economic and humanitarian crisis engulfing the Caribbean country. And as Pokémon celebrates turning 30 with its first ever theme park in Japan - we find out how a kids' craze become a cultural heavyweight. In this unforgettable episode of the Wise_N_Nerdy podcast, Joe is joined by the one and only Devocite for a dynamic, nerd-filled ride that perfectly blends fandom, fatherhood, and fun. With Charles out for the episode, Joe and Devocite hold down the mic and deliver a show packed with cult classic movies, Pokémon dad jokes, tech support tales, book talk, anime hype, and meaningful parenting conversation. As always, the episode kicks off with the Question of the Week: “What is your favorite cult classic movie?” What follows is a lively discussion featuring iconic films like Big Trouble in Little China, Full Metal Jacket, Shrek, and The Princess Bride. From over-the-top action to quotable fantasy adventures, Joe and Devocite celebrate the movies that defined late-night rewatches and built lifelong fandoms. Then it's time for the traditional roll of the dice — and fate delivers Pokémon-themed Bad Dad Jokes courtesy of Bob and Joe. The groans come fast, the puns come faster, and yes… they absolutely choose you. The dice roll again and summon the “Daddy, Tell Me A Story” segment, where Joe and Devocite swap tech support stories from the trenches. From baffling user errors to head-shaking troubleshooting moments, the stories are equal parts hilarious and painfully relatable for anyone who has ever worked in IT. Next up, the “How Do I…?” segment gives Devocite the spotlight as he explains how to get started with Meshtastic. Whether you're mesh-curious or deep into off-grid communication tech, this practical breakdown offers a helpful introduction for beginners looking to expand their nerd toolkit. The dice continue their magical work and guide the show into “What Are You Nerding Out About?” Devocite dives into his latest reads, having just finished Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey and Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. Up next on his reading list? Dungeon Crawler Carl, inspired largely by Joe's enthusiastic recommendations on previous episodes. Meanwhile, Joe is back on his anime streak, this time nerding out about Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None, continuing his ongoing exploration of hidden animated gems. Finally, the episode closes with a powerful “Parliament of Papas” discussion. Joe and Devocite reflect on a story about a mother who gets a creepy gut feeling about her daughter's friend's stepdad and ultimately decides not to allow a sleepover at their house. The hosts dive into the importance of parental intuition, trusting your gut, and prioritizing your children's safety — even when it feels awkward or uncomfortable. It's a thoughtful, grounded conversation that reminds listeners that being a nerd is great… but being a present, protective parent matters most. From cult classic movies and dad jokes to tech talk, fantasy novels, anime discoveries, and meaningful parenting discussions, this episode has something for everyone. It's another perfect reminder to embrace what you love, connect with your people, and always Find your FAMdom. Wise_N_Nerdy: Where Fatherhood Meets Fandom Learn more about your ad choices. Lured Up Podcast 384 - The Scopely Effect Live Streamed on -2/24/26 Publish Date - 2/27/26 Happy Pokémon Day! This episode is releasing on a very important day, and we hope everyone has an excellent time. Niantic has given us an incredible amount of information, not just about events, but about the new Season and some significant changes that are coming! We start with a recap of the last week of gameplay including The Lunar New Year Event and the kickoff to the Road to Kalos. If you have been feeling like things have been building towards something, you have been feeling correctly. We will be seeing major changes to event and scheduling structures, a move away from event tickets to GO Passes, and some fun QOL updates like the ability to catch evolved form Shinies in the wild. Memories In Motion will be the potential dawn of a new era, with all of the announcements kicking off with the start of the new season. ITL Kalos Tour gave us a preview of the new Mega System. Link Charges have caused a stir online, however we feel strongly that they are a massive win for Trainers as a no cost option to Raid. The March Content Update has been met with mixed reviews. Niantic's new strategy seems to give us even less news than before, which was already a sore spot. With the top secret debut of Mega Dragonite, it does feel good to be pleasantly surprised. This all feels very calculated, and we will keep a close eye on it over the Season. Our final discussion takes a macro look at the upcoming changes. For better or worse, the Scopely Effect is beginning to take shape. Is the Community ready to embrace the change, or will they form a resistance? Time will tell, and we are exceptionally here for it all. Dr. Beckett discusses the recent world-record $16.5 million sale of the Pokémon Illustrator card sold by Logan Paul and purchased by Paul Scaramucci, noting it is the only PSA 10 although 41 were made. He shares a Hobby Hotline clip and explains his views on market manipulation, distinguishing defensive vs. offensive forms and arguing that while nothing appears illegal, the transaction may be manipulative from a hobby standpoint due to corporate motives and marketing value. The conversation compares the sale to prior record holders like the Michael Jordan/Kobe Bryant Logoman and iconic sports cards such as the T206 Wagner and 1952 Topps Mantle, predicting a sports card could reclaim the record later in the year. Beckett and others discuss how publicity, auction hype, live-auction transparency, and big-money marketing incentives can create ripple effects across the broader collectibles market, and whether such prices are sustainable on resale. 00:22 $16.5M Pokémon Illustrator Sale: Why It Matters 00:36 Market Manipulation: Defensive vs Offensive 02:27 What Makes a ‘Legit' Sale? This week marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Pokémon, and to celebrate we're diving into the Sewers archives to hear my 2019 chat with Cody Shipman. Cody's a graphic designer and artist here in Seattle whose work is very beautiful, very gay, and very explicit. For a long time, he felt hesitant about blending his gay interests and his nerdy interests together. But it was when he finally merged them that he found inspiration for some of his most rewarding work to date.Check out Cody's (not safe work work!) art here: https://www.codyshipman.com/Also, a quick heads up that I'm planning a European book tour this spring and summer, where I'll be reading from my book Hi Honey I'm Homo!, as well as sharing clips from classic queer sitcom episodes. Plans for that are still coming together. But if you or someone you know is connected to a bookstore, university, community group, or any other organization in Europe that would like to collaborate on a book event in May or June of 2026, please get in touch so I can try to make it happen! Also, a quick reminder that I host weekly livestreams every Sunday on Twitch, and I hope you'll join me for those. A Pokémon card sells for $16.4 million, Barna research sheds light on the three things resilient families prioritize, and everyone seems to relate to an abandoned monkey in a Japanese zoo. Resource of the Week - Conversation Starter - YouTube Video In Other News.. USA hockey set viewership records at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, with both men's and women's teams winning gold, setting hockey up to hang on to its place as the fourth most-followed sport in the US—at least, until the FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles enters the chat. The so-called "boy blush" trend is gaining traction, with artists like Sangwon and Bad Bunny wearing noticeable blush on major stages, and teen boys increasingly experimenting with makeup as part of their personal style. A TikTok meme called "baby boo" started with people dancing to a clip that repeats "she gon' call me baby boo" and has since morphed into users calling it "baby boo syndrome." Eric Dane, known for his roles in Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, passed away on February 19, one year after announcing his ALS diagnosis. Since then, TikTok has filled with edits of his most emotional scenes. At the BAFTA film awards, a guest with Tourette's syndrome involuntarily shouted a racial slur while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were onstage. The moment sparked conversations about the real harm that racial slurs carry for Black people, alongside questions about the awareness around Tourette's and the responsibility of live broadcasting. → Click here to check out the Pour Over Newsletter
Chris breaks down the backlash to Ring's Super Bowl “Search Party” ad, which aimed to help find lost pets but reignited privacy concerns over AI-powered neighborhood surveillance. He also explores the surge of AI-themed Super Bowl ads, Apple's delayed Siri overhaul, rising DDR5 RAM prices driven by AI demand, SpaceX's Crew-12 launch, and the record-breaking sale of a rare Pokémon card. -Want to be a Guest on a Podcast or YouTube Channel? Support my Show Sponsor: Best Godaddy Promo Codes Get 1Password Full Summary – Main story — Ring Search Party: Chris summarizes Ring's first Super Bowl ad (viewed by “over 120 million”) which promoted “Search Party,” a feature that lets users upload a photo of a missing pet and alerts neighborhood Ring cameras if they spot it. He explains the ad was intended as wholesome but provoked fast backlash: viewers and privacy advocates (including the ACLU and lawmakers) warned the tech could be repurposed to track people. Chris recounts Ring's prior controversies (police partnerships, an FTC settlement in 2023 over employee access to videos) and says the ad brought those issues back into focus. He reports that four days after the ad, Amazon canceled a planned integration with Flock Safety (Amazon called it a resources-and-timing decision). He notes Search Party is opt-in for pets but emphasizes the potential scale of surveillance when aggregated across millions of Ring devices and that the underlying AI capability isn't going away. – Super Bowl AI ads and Anthropic vs. OpenAI: Chris says AI-related ads made up about 23% of Super Bowl commercials. He describes Anthropic's debut ads (titles like “betrayal, deception, treachery, and violation”) positioning Claude as ad-free for paying users and taking a shot at OpenAI's ad plans; Sam Altman criticized those ads as dishonest. He mentions Svedka ran a primarily AI-generated Super Bowl ad and that Anthropic saw a ~6.5% traffic jump and an ~11% rise in daily active users after the game. Chris frames the ads as a sign the AI assistant wars have moved to mainstream consumer marketing and raises the question of whether AI assistants will be ad-supported or paid/ad-free. – Sponsor spot: A lengthy GoDaddy sponsorship read with pricing and offers: economy hosting $6.99/month for a year with free domain, email, and SSL; WordPress hosting $12.99/month with same inclusions; domain names $11.99; GoDaddy website builder offers a 30-day free trial for certain plans. Chris urges listeners to use the provided promo links to support the show. – Apple March 4 event and Siri delay: Chris reports Apple confirmed a March 4 product launch (iPhone 17e, MacBook Pros with M5 Pro and M5 Max, an 8th-gen iPad Air and a 12th-gen iPad). He says the AI-powered Siri overhaul planned for iOS 26.4 hit testing snags and some features were pushed to iOS 26.5 in May and iOS 27 in September. He notes Apple claims Siri improvements are still coming in 2026 but have been repeatedly delayed, and frames Apple as focusing on hardware and on-device processing. – DDR5 RAM price surge: Chris covers a global memory shortage driven by AI data-center demand. He explains manufacturers shifted production to high-bandwidth AI memory with much higher margins, reducing consumer DDR supply and forcing adoption of DDR5. He gives figures: DDR5 64 GB kits rose from around $200 in mid-2025 to over $1,000 (a ~300% increase across six months, with another ~50% spike in the last month). He says inventories have fallen to about eight weeks and analysts don't expect meaningful relief until late 2027 or 2028. He warns PC builders and buyers to brace for higher upgrade and system prices. – SpaceX Crew-12 launch: Chris recounts NASA Crew-12 as a replacement following an earlier medical evacuation that left ISS short-staffed. He reports SpaceX launched four astronauts on Feb. 13 aboard a Falcon 9 with the Dragon capsule Freedom (liftoff at 5:15 AM EST) and docked on Valentine's Day. Crew named: NASA commander Jessica Mayer, NASA pilot Jack Hathaway, ESA mission specialist Sophie Adadott, and Russian cosmonaut Andrei (Andrei Fedoo/Fedu — host stumbles on the name). The mission is planned for eight months; the Falcon 9 first stage landed back at pad 40. Chris frames the launch as good news and notes ongoing reliance on SpaceX. – Pokémon card/collectibles auction: Chris discusses a record trading-card sale. He refers to Logan Paul and the Pikachu Illustrator card (one of 39 ever made). He mentions earlier reports of card sales (at first saying a card sold for “like six and a half million dollars,” then later saying Logan Paul sold one for “sixteen point five million dollars”) and then details a live auction via Golden in which the card sold for “sixty million four hundred ninety two thousand dollars,” called a new Guinness World Record for the most expensive trading card sold at auction. Chris notes Logan Paul bought his PSA 10 card in 2021 for $5.2M, the auction had about 97 bids, and the buyer was venture capitalist Adrien Scaramucci (who had the card placed on a $75,000 diamond necklace). Chris comments on collectors vs. investors, how wealthy buyers and influencers can drive pricing, and cautions that most fans shouldn't expect to find such returns. Sakurai steps up to the podium, looking troubled. He's not his confident self this time around — and it's doubly weird that he's making this announcement live and in person instead of through some kind of Nintendo Direct. There's even regular press here, not just games media people. "We are removing Matthew McConaughey as Mud from Super Smash Bros. We are aware of rumors circulating regarding a licensing agreement lapsing or some kind of issue with having a real person present in the video game, but this is all just speculation. The truth is that we are removing Mud because he is overpowered, and in all of our internal testing there was no way to reign in his power while staying true to the character.
