Talking Through Sicut Cervus Sicut Cervus is the penultimate episode of Season 2a of Fear the Walking Dead. Have I said that I love the word penultimate? We have one more episode before The Walking Dead Universe on television takes a break. That means you also won’t hear from us for a while. We’re taking a break! This may be sad news if you like listening to us prattle on. If you don’t… I’m so confused as to why you are here… We had fun talking about this episode once again. Things took a rather dark turn in this episode. We might be done with the Love Boat edition of TWD. A new direction? It seems like they might be headed in a new direction as our gang arrives in Baja and are greeted by something they did not expect. Strand discovers the tragic fate of Thomas, and I think it’s finally clear that it wasn’t a ruse or a con, Victor really did love him. We are also introduced to Celia, a formidable character with some rather strange beliefs about what is going on in the world, and what those things that look like people really are. Will she influence Nick to her way of thinking? Or will Nick realize that she really is crazy? A few things It seems to me that they got through the flotilla a little bit too easily, and it makes me wonder if that is something significant, or just a plot hole. I doubt the answer will ever be known to that one. I also think that the stress of this new world is beginning to take its toll, and perhaps most of our gang have let their guards down a little too easily when they arrive at the house in Baja. One of my favorite parts of the episode is when Thomas asks Victor if we like her when Madison is at the door. Strand is correct when he says she is fierce, but will she use that power for good, or evil? I think she needs to let her kids adapt to this new world and stop trying to hold them back by being overprotective. Also, was Alicia overreacting, or was Chris really threatening her? What was he doing in their room while they were sleeping with that knife? Send in your feedback! If you know the answers to any of these questions, please leave us your feedback and tell us! We are dying to know! For the mid-season finale, Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 7, titled Shiva, please leave your feedback by 6 PM Eastern/5 PM Central Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Ratings were a mixed bag Sicut Cervus got a 1.94 in the 18-49 demographic, with 4.486 million viewers, down from last week‘s 1.97 in the 18-49, but up from 4.414 million viewers. Fear the Walking Dead: A Podcast Quinn Warner, Stephen Payne, and Bruce R. Magee discuss this week's episode. Has our cast finally found a safe haven? At first, the village's in the church look like they're making do during the outbreak, but shortly after the service, they begin to bleed from their eyes and die. Thomas Abigail tries to intervene with the villagers, but he's interrupted by their sickness. We all liked this episode a lot. It had several interwoven subplots. Celia Flores, Thomas Abigail's housekeeper, is at the center of one. The villagers are about to attack her when they suddenly die, and it turns out that she poisoned the communion wafers. She also keeps walkers in the wine cellar and worships Santa Muerte. Another subplot centers on the death of Thomas Abigail, who had been bitten by a walker. Quinn notes that this is the first time Strand loses his cool, and it's clear that his feelings for Thomas are real. We wonder what he'll do next after the loss of his emotional center.Chris begins to spin out of control when he learns that the group doubts that he had to shoot the hostage last week. He escalates quickly, and we wonder whether he can recover. The relationship between Ofelia and her father Daniel continues to evolve. She was repelled by learning of his ruthlessness last season; this episode she sees him freeze & has to step in to save him. She's beginning to see his mortality and fragility, and her feeling toward him begin to thaw.
Talking Through Blood in the Streets Blood in the Streets is episode 4 of season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead. This episode is a rare gem for either show in this universe because it gave us Strand’s backstory! I don’t know if they always planned on giving us his backstory, or if they did it because he became such a fan favorite the moment he appeared on the screen. I was definitely excited to learn more about this very intriguing character, but what is also interesting is how this backstory can be interpreted differently. What seems like a no brainer to one could still be viewed more than one way by another. It seems Strand’s intentions are still not crystal clear. Is he playing a long con, or does he really love Thomas Abigail? Only time will tell. A few more points And now for a few more points about the episode. Although it does appear that Nick is really getting the hang of the zombie-apocalypse, diving into the tent without checking it first seems like a huge risk, as well as trapping himself in a place with only one exit. It seems clear that he has more learning to do, but Nick, he will do it fast. When we recorded, I couldn’t specifically remember the lights in the cold open, but I went back and looked and I think that perhaps the lights were the flotilla that Luis said they had to get through. I think the “bad decisions” that Ofelia said Chris still has time to make will be quite different from the bad decisions she made, and actually, have nothing to do with liking a girl. Send in your feedback! I also still want to know why Strand tried to ditch the Abigail instead of staying, so if you think you know the answer, please send us some feedback and tell us! Was he going to try to get to Luis and Nick for backup? If so, why did he think he would be able to make a getaway?
