This was a very fun and interactive interview! I absolutely loved talking to Brett about his role in the movie reprisal of “The Crazies” (2010). Even though it's a remake of George Romero's, I would honestly have to say the remake did it some justice. Brett is what we call a “Chameleon” actor; you put him in any role, he will deliver it! This can be backed up with his role as ‘Marcus' in “Fear the Walking Dead” and to make it more believable, his drive and determination is what makes him a very gifted actor. We talked about his notorious scenes in the movie: the scene where he burns down the house and the scene in the jail cell. I love how he provided his own insight about his character and what he did in order to prepare for – not just the scenes but for his character. Truly, he's an inspiration for any budding actor who wished to use the same drive and determination to get where you want to go. Overall, Brett is an awesome guy. I had a lot of fun speaking to him and this is one of the best interviews this year.

Antonella is such a sweet person and very talented! I saw down with her to discuss her role as Gabbie in Terrifier 3. We spoke about how her acting career started and how she is not a stranger to the horror community; she as also in Fear the Walking Dead which led me to believe that she was prepared for the role of Gabbie. We spoke about what it's like in set and working with Lauren LaVera. Lauren and Antonella seemed to have created a bond between them and which I think is wonderful. She also described her favorite scene: “Pass the rice” in which we all know is a great scene in the movie. And apparently, she would not change a thing about the movie or her character (and neither would I). Overall, phenomenal interview with a very gifted young actress! Be sure to checkout her new movie, “A Sudden Case of Christmas” (2024) where Antonella is acting alongside the legendary Danny DeVito.

Can a musical comedy featuring Hamlet and Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger change lives? Actor, playwright, and director Colman Domingo thinks so. In Sing Sing, a new film from A24, Domingo stars in a true story about the power of theater. Inspired by the real-life Rehabilitation through the Arts program at Sing Sing Maximum Security Prison, Sing Sing tells the story of Divine G, played by Domingo, imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, who finds purpose by acting in a theater group with other incarcerated men. When a wary outsider joins the group, the men decide to stage their first original comedy. Sing Sing stars an ensemble cast of formerly incarcerated actors who are alumni of the RTA program, including Clarence "Divine Eye" Maclin and Sean San José. Domingo takes us behind the scenes of the making of Sing Sing. He also shares how he became an actor after a class at Temple University and his own Shakespeare story including an inventive take on Helena from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Domingo is beloved for onscreen portrayals including Civil Rights activist Bayard Rustin in Netlfix's Rustin for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. Other films include Lincoln, Selma, If Beale Street Could Talk, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Zola, and The Color Purple. His breakthrough came as conman Victor Strand on Fear the Walking Dead. He won an Emmy for his performance as Ali on HBO Max's Euphoria. On stage he was nominated for Tony and Olivier awards for his role as Mr. Bones in The Scottsboro Boys. He wrote the book for the Broadway musical Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2024. After his mother took him to see a children's play at the age of four, Nick confidently declared that acting would be his future. Commercials and community plays followed, two television movies were also released in the early 90s. The breakthrough he needed came next when he starred alongside Mel Gibson, who hand-selected Nick for the role, in The Man Without a Face (1993). For roughly half a century, the singer Rubén Blades has been spreading the gospel of salsa music to every corner of the globe, but his status as an music icon was anything but assured. Despite having an interest in music at an early age, the Panamanian-born Blades was pursuing a law career. But when the tumultuous political climate in Panama forced his family into exile in the United States, Blades found his way back into the music industry—through a record-company mailroom. “My diploma was not accepted by the Florida Bar, so I didn't know what to do. I felt useless,” Blades tells The New Yorker's Graciela Mochkofsky. “Then all of the sudden I thought of calling Fania Records, which was the biggest salsa label at the time.” Through the subsequent years, Blades came to recognize the power of salsa as a vehicle for people from disparate backgrounds and ideologies to find “common ground.” “My goal from the beginning was not to become famous or rich,” Blades says. “My goal from the beginning was to communicate, to present a position and create a conversation.” Mochkofsky talks with him about serving in the Panamanian government and about his lengthy career as an actor; outside the Americas, more people might know Rubén Blades as Daniel Salazar on “Fear the Walking Dead” than as a living legend of salsa.
