As we go deeper on the spiritual path—whether through yoga, meditation, or self-inquiry—we often discover a paradox: We feel more peace… but we also feel more pain. The highs become transcendent. The lows, unbearable. We start to feel everything more intensely. This intensity is not a mistake. It is the heart of the path. The Buddha says: you have felt more grief than the ocean holds water. This isn't just poetry. It's a spiritual earthquake. This is not to depress us, but to awaken us—to stir our hearts. This stirring is known in Buddhism as saṁvega. This feeling—though unsettling—is a sacred catalyst. It's what Prince Siddhartha felt when he saw old age, sickness, and death. It's what every sincere practitioner eventually encounters: not just the suffering of the world, but the raw truth of our entanglement in it. You begin to see the pain in pleasure—how even joy is tinged with impermanence. You see the subtle violence of craving, the ache beneath distraction. Your old ways of coping no longer work. This is grace, not failure. Because only when we see duḥkha clearly, can we begin to walk a path beyond it. These are cracks in the illusion. And through those cracks, truth pours in. The practice is not to patch them up, but to stay open. Yoga gives us a container: Asana: to ground the body as emotion rises Prāṇāyāma: to stabilize the nervous system as old energy releases Meditation: to witness pain without collapsing into it Bhakti: to open the heart in devotion rather than despair And ultimately, viveka—discernment—so that we can feel the pain of the world without losing our place in it. Everything Prince Andrew does is going to be met with scrutiny for the rest of his life. He has no one to blame but himself for those circumstances though. He had the whole world served up to him on a platter and he needed more. In this episode, we once again hear about how Andrew was always a rude, belligerent person and how he has been despised by many, many of the people who worked for him.(commercial at 10:04)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11283941/Andrew-horrible-bully-revolving-door-women-ex-officer-tells-new-documentary.html

n your life journey, how often have you experienced the power of both FORGIVENESS and RESTORATION back into a wonderful relationship? It’s rare, isn’t it? Too often bitterness and resentment set in so deeply that while forgiveness might happen, trust is never restored, and the relationship remains frayed. Have you found that to be true in your life experience? Today, join me again on that shoreline in Galilee, 2000 years ago, and let’s witness the restoration of a broken relationship that probably has touched your life and mine, 2 millennia later!(Click here to see full text, images and links) Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)Have a comment or question about today's chapter? — “Believe it or not, we have all fire walked before. Every single one of us. We have all gone through difficult times, life transitions, radical change. Fire transforms. If we remember each of our life's big challenges and the resulting change, then we all know fire, we've all walked through fire. The question is, was it done with intention or not? Was it a ceremony in your life or an utter mess? Community fire walking gives us an opportunity to re-wire some of those past transitions and to embrace a broader perspective. It allows each of us another chance to go through the fire, this time with clear intention and support, to make it to the other side.” Valeria interviews Jen Hudziec — She is the author of “Ancestral Healing: A Guided Journal for Observations, Reflections, and Connections With Your Ancestors.” Jennifer Hudziec is a Ritualist. Her whole life has been shaped by the transformative powers of ritual. As a child she was raised Roman Catholic but was an animist at heart spending all her waking hours outdoors communing with the natural world. Jen departed institutionalized religion when she was 18 and began a lifetime of exploring various spiritual paths. The common thread in each of these paths was ritual. It was through ritual, initiations, and rites of passage that she transformed her life and found her true calling as a Ritualist. As a Ritualist, Jen holds a safe and tender space for ancestral healing, spiritual mentorship, and rites of passage including death & dying support. She also has a passion for teaching and passing on what she has gleaned from all her experiences and training. She is truly dedicated to being able to meet people where they are and therefore provide a spectrum of offerings from free online rituals to group work, and private sessions. Dee Anna's story is one of resilience, adventure, and refusing to let society define her limits. Born with a genetic mutation that affected her mobility, she faced a lifetime of challenges—from intensive physiotherapy as a child to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2022. Along the way, she also navigated severe autism, trauma, and life-altering setbacks that could have stopped her in her tracks. But instead, she turned to the outdoors. In this episode, Dee shares how thru-hiking the South West Coast Path became the turning point that changed everything. With no home, no job, and facing immense personal struggles, she took a leap of faith and embarked on a 71-day journey that helped her reclaim her life. We talk about the power of movement, nature's role in healing, and why adventure should be accessible to everyone. Now, as a scientist, outdoor journalist, and founder of The Introvert Magazine, Dee is on a mission to inspire others to embrace nature, break barriers, and live life on their own terms. This is a powerful and deeply moving conversation about survival, self-discovery, and the courage to forge your own path. Marines, Marathons, and Meaning: The Legacy of Col. Hank Donigan In this week's Team Neer Quit podcast, Marcus and Melanie speak with Retired Colonel Hank Donigan—a Marine whose life reads like a battle-hardened adventure novel. From his early days jumping out of airplanes at Fort Benning to leading troops through intense combat in Lebanon, Grenada, and Iraq, Col. Donigan has lived a life of sacrifice, courage, and service. A graduate of the Naval Academy and a 30-year Marine Corps veteran, Donigan shares the emotional and physical toll of war, including his own battle with PTSD and traumatic brain injury. Yet, rather than slowing down, he has turned pain into purpose—running marathons nearly every week and using each mile to raise awareness and funds for wounded service members through the Semper Fi & America's Fund. With $85,000 raised in 2023 alone, he stands as the nation's top individual fundraiser for the cause. At 68 years old and 46 marathons deep in a single year, Hank embodies resilience, leadership, and hope. In this episode, hear how staying in shape became both a coping mechanism and a mission to inspire others—and why, if given the chance, he'd proudly come back and do it all again as a United States Marine. Col. Donigan shares his experiences with: · Surviving combat in Lebanon and the aftermath of the Beirut barracks bombing · The healing power of running and his marathons · Raising funds for wounded warriors and their families · Leadership, legacy, and living with purpose post-service In This Episode You Will Hear: • We need to do a better job with American history, and make our kids aware of, and proud of our heritage. (1:47) • I wanted to go where the action was, and was sent to Okinawa to serve battalion force Marines. (11:54) • The Marine Corps made me a runner. (20:36) • I had a grandfather who ran the Boston Marathon in 1916, so I always had this dream of running in it. (22:11) • I was the first Marine Corps finisher [of the Boston Marathon]. (24:24) • Everybody wants to be the popular guy; the likeable guy. But there are some things that your inexperienced troops don't know, and you have to be the hard guy – a bit of a prick. But if you're not willing to do that and you let things slide, people are gonna get hurt and you're not gonna bring everybody home. (31:31) • There was a group of engineers that were out playing football. All of a sudden, the first round came in, and one of the marines hit the deck and his helmet rolled off. The next round came in and a piece of shrapnel took the top of his head off. (32:47) • “Nice guys kill Marines” is something I live by and continue to teach. (33:42) • I learned how critical fitness was to leadership and combat leadership. (35:47) • Marcus, three's things about you, being a SEAL and being a sailor that will be with you till the day you die. (37:45) • I've been able to take veterans in need, and connect them with case workers with a fund and see them get immediate assistance. (41:19) • Walking is good. If you can get 10,000 steps a day, that really adds up to something good for your health. What if the answer to your overwhelm isn't a new planner or app—but a walk around the block, a shared meal, or a Saturday spent gardening? In this episode, Michael and Megan sit down with Arthur Boers, author of Living into Focus and Shattered, to talk about the kind of practices that help us resist the pressure of a hyperconnected world and even heal from generational trauma by reconnecting to what matters most. If you've ever longed to feel more grounded, whole, or present, this conversation will give you the language—and tools—you've been missing.Memorable Quotes“Technoloy itself is not the problem. Technology is human manipulation of nature for human priorities… The question is: Do we master technology or does technology master us?”“What we ought to do is raise the thresholds against things that are not the priority… And then the other thing is lower the threshold for things that are your priorities."“Focal practice is just helping us reclaim things that we knew or did before and helping us prioritize them, helping us have a different perspective on them.”“Compassion is the way forward. It doesn't help to school people who are struggling with these things—but to listen to them with patience and kindness and compassion can, in fact, make a difference.”“Focal practices are about getting away from just acting automatically. That's how I was raised: If you act automatically, it's right. You're justified… I've had to unlearn that.”“It means a willingness to live with ambiguity and to live with pain and to live with things that aren't resolved and hold there—that's a hard learning.”Key TakeawaysFocal Practices Are More Than Habits. Focal practices aren't just routines—they're meaningful rhythms that require intentionality, foster connection, and reorient us to what matters most.Technology Calls For Discernment. Technology isn't going anywhere—but the way we engage with it should be thoughtful. The key to balance? Honest conversations in community. We Need Yellow Lights. In a culture of nonstop green lights (and plenty of red-light alarmism), we need more yellow lights—space to pause, reflect, and consider what's truly right for the moment.Brake Your Enthusiasm. Eager to dive headfirst into focal practices? That's your cue to slow down. Start small, stay consistent, and let the benefits build over time.An Unexpected Path to Healing. Focal practices don't just bring focus—they can bring healing. By creating spaces of safety, embodiment, and rhythm, they can support recovery from trauma and help us move toward greater wholeness.ResourcesLiving into Focus by Arthur BoersShattered: A Memoir by Arthur BoersThe Way is Made by Walking by Arthur BoersArthurBoers.comWatch on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/ypJvOm0z8IUThis episode was produced by Sarah Vorhees Wendel of VW Sound
You're not stuck. You're just standing still. Life is finite, even if it doesn't feel like it in the middle of your daily routine. None of this lasts forever, and that's exactly why we need to lean in, to move, to act before time moves on without us.This isn't about grand gestures or overnight change. It's about saying yes to the small, scary things. Walking through the doors that shake you up. Showing up when it's uncomfortable. One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on 'The Daily Radio Bible' for a daily 20-minute spiritual journey. Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey through the pages of Scripture together every single day. In today's episode, Hunter—your host and Bible reading coach—guides us through pivotal passages from 1 Samuel 27, Psalm 141, 1 Chronicles 9, and Matthew 10. We'll witness David's escape to Philistine territory, hear the heartfelt prayers of the psalmist, trace the returning exiles in Israel's genealogies, and listen as Jesus sends out his disciples with challenging words on mission, authority, and compassion. Along the way, Hunter offers encouragement for our own walk with Christ—reminding us that, like the disciples, we are sent into the world with both Jesus' credentials and his compassion. Through prayer and reflection, today's episode is an invitation to renewal, perseverance, and joy—even in the midst of life's challenges. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's discover what God has in store on this day in our journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He sends us out with his credentials and his compassion. In today's reading from Matthew 10, we see Jesus sending out his twelve disciples. He isn't sending them out on their own or with their own limited resources—he's sending them with his authority, his message, and his compassion. The disciples are given the power to heal, to cast out evil spirits, to announce the kingdom of heaven. They go out in his name, equipped to do his work, to be his presence in the world. But Jesus also tells them, and us, to be prepared for misunderstanding and rejection. It's all a part of following him. If he was misunderstood and persecuted, it shouldn't surprise us if we are treated in the same way. Even when we offer Jesus' message of love and grace, we may face resistance—maybe even from those closest to us, in our families or our communities. But we are not to lose heart. He is clear: What happened to him will happen to those who walk in his way, but he still sends us out empowered by his Spirit. And he sends us not as distant messengers, but as his apprentices. Christ in us—his presence moves through our actions, our words, our lives. He asks us to see the world as he sees it: through the eyes of the Father, with a heart determined to restore, heal, and make new. We are to take that compassion, that vision, and move out into the world with it. That is our calling—to show up, to represent his credentials, and to live out his compassion. This journey will not always be easy. It may involve suffering, rejection, or leaving things behind. But Jesus promises that life—true and abiding life—is found when we give ourselves to him and his mission. If we lose our life for his sake, we will find it. Let's respond to his sending. Let's go into the world, our neighborhoods, our workplaces, our homes, with his credentials and compassion. Let's seek to see as he sees, to love as he loves, and to bring his message of hope and healing. He is with us. Christ is in you. Go with great joy in the power of the Spirit. That is a prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that is a prayer I have for you. May it be so. EVOTION: TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. Pastor Chris Drew is our guide as we walk through Westminster Confession of Faith chapter 19, Of the Law of God. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxOWdAHeXLE CHAPTER 19 Of the Law of God 1. God gave to Adam a law, as a covenant of works, by which he bound him and all his posterity to personal, entire, exact, and perpetual obedience, promised life upon the fulfilling, and threatened death upon the breach of it, and endued him with power and ability to keep it. 2. This law, after his fall, continued to be a perfect rule of righteousness; and, as such, was delivered by God upon Mount Sinai, in ten commandments, and written in two tables: the first four commandments containing our duty towards God; and the other six, our duty to man. 3. Beside this law, commonly called moral, God was pleased to give to the people of Israel, as a church under age, ceremonial laws, containing several typical ordinances, partly of worship, prefiguring Christ, his graces, actions, sufferings, and benefits; and partly, holding forth divers instructions of moral duties. All which ceremonial laws are now abrogated, under the new testament. 4. To them also, as a body politic, he gave sundry judicial laws, which expired together with the State of that people; not obliging any other now, further than the general equity thereof may require. 5. The moral law doth forever bind all, as well justified persons as others, to the obedience thereof; and that, not only in regard of the matter contained in it, but also in respect of the authority of God the Creator, who gave it. Neither doth Christ, in the gospel, any way dissolve, but much strengthen this obligation. 6. Although true believers be not under the law, as a covenant of works, to be thereby justified, or condemned; yet is it of great use to them, as well as to others; in that, as a rule of life informing them of the will of God, and their duty, it directs and binds them to walk accordingly; discovering also the sinful pollutions of their nature, hearts, and lives; so as, examining themselves thereby, they may come to further conviction of, humiliation for, and hatred against sin, together with a clearer sight of the need they have of Christ, and the perfection of his obedience. It is likewise of use to the regenerate, to restrain their corruptions, in that it forbids sin: and the threatenings of it serve to show what even their sins deserve; and what afflictions, in this life, they may expect for them, although freed from the curse thereof threatened in the law. The promises of it, in like manner, show them God's approbation of obedience, and what blessings they may expect upon the performance thereof: although not as due to them by the law as a covenant of works. So as, a man's doing good, and refraining from evil, because the law encourageth to the one, and deterreth from the other, is no evidence of his being under the law; and, not under grace. 7. Neither are the forementioned uses of the law contrary to the grace of the gospel, but do sweetly comply with it; the Spirit of Christ subduing and enabling the will of man to do that freely, and cheerfully, which the will of God, revealed in the law, requireth to be done.

Are you navigating perimenopause or menopause while also managing chronic health conditions? Or perhaps perimenopause has triggered an underlying, previously dormant issue? Traditional healthcare may not be enough to combat the symptoms, but do not fear! Today's guest is here to teach us how your nervous system, immune system, and hormones can all work together to support healing and longevity. This week, host Jenn Trepeck is joined by Dr. Jessica Drummond, Founder and CEO of The Integrative Women's Health Institute. Together, they explore how seemingly “silent” chronic conditions like endometriosis, pelvic pain, autoimmune disorders or even long covid, can complicate menopause—and what you can do about it. Dr. Drummond shares her insights on calming the nervous system, building metabolic health through nutrient-dense habits, and using tools like heart rate variability (HRV) to guide recovery. The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, who discusses wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: (00:00) The impact of menopause on silent chronic conditions(05:44) Dr. Jessica Drummond reflects on her professional journey in the chronic condition space(11:11) Common underlying chronic conditions affecting menopause(16:08) Discussion of the silent underlying conditions that can manifest later in life(25:43) Calming the nervous system to heal in a consistent way(30:50) The importance of your metabolic health in the form of nutrient-dense food, strength training, walking, hydration and circadian rhythm(32:09) Discussion of heart rate variability, recovery, and developing the art of sitting quietly(41:36) The importance of working with a health coach to plan for the future of your healthKEY TAKEAWAYS:Menopause and perimenopause symptoms can be overwhelming on their own. Still, when layered on top of chronic conditions like endometriosis, pelvic pain, autoimmune disorders, or post-viral syndromes (e.g., long COVID), it creates a compounded health challenge. Traditional training often overlooks the role of nutrition, nervous system regulation, and lifestyle in healing. Chronic conditions—especially during perimenopause—require a personalized, holistic strategy.Healing during menopause doesn't require drastic changes—small, consistent steps matter most. Start where it feels easiest, like mindfulness, nutrition, or gentle movement. Recovery and nervous system regulation are just as important as action. Tools like heart rate variability (HRV) can help track progress, showing that true resilience comes from balancing effort with rest.Integrating the nervous, immune, and hormone systems is the key to living a longer, more active, healthier life. When these systems are balanced and working together, they support overall well-being and longevity.QUOTES: (10:04) “In my traditional physical therapy training, nutrition was not emphasized as a healing tool. It was more like you needed adequate nutrients to perform certain physical activities, but we didn't think about it from an anti-inflammatory standpoint.” - Dr. Jessica Drummond(13:59) “Research shows us that acute illnesses like infections trigger chronic diseases.” - Dr. Jessica Drummond(22:36) “It's exposing these underlying things that have been lying dormant, that we just brushed aside or pushed through because they weren't really standing in the way of us doing the things that we wanted to do.” - Jenn Trepeck(40:19) “I think we make these plans expecting perfection, planning for this optimal, ideal day that never happens. So put these things in place so they happen even on the days where we don't feel a hundred percent, even on the days where nothing goes as planned.” - Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Become A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With A Side Of Fries MerchA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramUse Your Heart Rate Monitor to Improve Your Health GUEST RESOURCES:The Integrative Women's Health InstituteIntegrative Women's Health - Podcast Integrative Women's Health - PubMedInnovative Approaches to Chronic Pain with The Anodunos Method TeamGUEST BIOGRAPHY:Dr. Jessica Drummond, DCN, CNS, PT, NBC-HWC, is a leading expert in women's health and the Founder and CEO of The Integrative Women's Health Institute. An Easter Sunday sermon by Pastor Brett Deal. Have you ever noticed how each Gospel speaks from a unique vantage point? Matthew and Mark, Luke and John all speak from a distinct place in the story. Eyewitnesses have shared their personal experiences of being with Jesus. They take several others' testimonies of Thursday's washing and communion, of Friday's execution, of Saturday's traumatic silence. Each Gospel arrives at the dawn of the next day. This Sunday we will take up Luke's account (Luke 24.1-12) as we gather to celebrate Easter, but for today, let's take heed to Matthew's telling of the empty tomb (Matthew 28.1-10). His witness begins at first light, as Mary and others arrive at the tomb. The earth shakes, the stone is dislodged, and the Roman soldiers collapse stunned! Into the women's understandable terror, an angel proclaims Christ is risen from the dead! He has gone to Galilee, and there “you will see Him!” These women give us a perfectly recognizable response! They were “afraid and yet filled with great joy.” Who hasn't felt that strange combination of emotions?! Bursting exhilaration cloaked in fear. Great anticipation tempered by anxiety. These disciples watched their teacher thrashed and mocked and nailed bleeding to a torturous cross. They witnessed the stuff of nightmares, the kinds of violence that make us fight the darkness of sleep. They've been traumatized by the violence of Friday and the silence of Saturday. They are experiencing real fear. Easter morning, their fear is not ignored or denied. It isn't minimized or mocked. It's there, like the heavy clouds of dawn dissipating in the light of day. The clouds are still there, but the rising sun is pushing the gray to silvered edges by irrepressible joy. They are still afraid, but the sense of gladness and joy is breaking through! Walking through Holy Week, knowing that Easter is coming, don't be afraid to feel. Don't try to hide your fears, anxieties, afflictions, or pains. Bring the gray clouds of your experience through sorrow and grief to the empty tomb where we witness the good news together!
