In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares how teenage robberies and a love for stealing and selling guns led to an eight year sentence in the Texas prison system, what getting sent to a brutal maximum security facility really looked like, and how he made one of the most dangerous decisions available inside those walls — leaving the white gang he ran with and becoming a Blood as a white man inside a Texas max security prison. This as hospitals brace for the busiest weeks of summer trauma season, the stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day when emergency room volume normally spikes by 15% to 27%. Prosecutors continued to present evidence to a California judge on Wednesday why singer D4vd should face a jury of his peers for the alleged murder and dismemberment of his underaged girlfriend Celeste Rivas Hernandez. He begins chasing her, but she escapes to her mother's car. The following day, police arrest an armed robbery suspect hiding outside her apartment building with a handgun pointed toward her living-room window. She later recognizes him on the news as the same man from the store. Story 2: The White Van Narrated by: Maxwell Glick Two six-year-old friends are riding their bikes when a rusted, windowless white van begins driving beside them. The men inside open the doors and say, “You grab one, I'll grab the other.” The girls race back to a nearby house. The van follows them and slowly passes the home before eventually leaving. Story 3: The JROTC Stalker Narrated by: Dacey Else A high-school freshman becomes friends with an older student in JROTC. His behavior gradually escalates from gifts and notes to surveillance, manipulation and stalking. After she rejects him, he appears outside her bedroom window. A new report from a trusted gaming industry analyst projects PlayStation 6 to launch in 2028 and sell only four million units in its first calendar year on the market. When you consider that even PS3 managed to sell three and a half million units in a mere four months, well, it might be a tough row to hoe. Waking up in a recovery room twelve hours after a surgery that was supposed to take six to eight, with a foggy brain and a numb body and the immediate awareness that something must have gone wrong — and then, without any effort at all, these words scrolling like closed captions across the mind: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. It was not a verse summoned by discipline or recalled through effort. It arrived on its own, precisely when it was needed most. That moment is the beating heart of this episode. Jeremiah 29:11 is one of the most familiar verses in Scripture, and perhaps because of that familiarity, we sometimes read past the phrase that matters most in the hardest moments: not to harm you. It is the harm we fear most — the downfall, the destruction, the decimation of our hopes and health and relationships. And while we are not promised immunity from hardship in a fallen world where the enemy still schemes, God's goodness and His plans always override whatever harm is plotted against us. The surgery did go wrong. Blood pressure tanked. Recovery stretched into weeks of unexpected dips and twists. And through all of it, the promise held: no matter what life looked like in the moment, God's plan was never to harm, and His good future would always prevail. Today's Bible Verse "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."— Jeremiah 29:11, NIV Ponder Today The phrase "not to harm you" is worth sitting with in seasons of fear. When the familiar verse loses its power because it has been recited too many times, sometimes a single phrase within it can speak with fresh and specific force exactly when we need it most. God's plan prevails over whatever the enemy schemes. We live in a fallen world where hardship is real and the enemy still plots against us. But God's goodness and His purposes override any harm that is intended for us. He always wins. A good future is still God's plan, no matter what your current path looks like. Rocky seasons, unexpected complications, and frightening detours do not cancel what God has declared. His plans to prosper you and give you hope remain in force through all of it. A Prayer for You Today Lord God, Your plan is never to harm or hurt me, yet so often I feel this very fear. I want to believe with all my heart the truth that no matter where I wind up or what rocky path I find myself on, You still have good plans. Though the enemy intends to harm me, You intend to help me and lead me to a beautiful future full of Your goodness, protection, peace, and loving presence. I praise You that Your plan is the one that prevails, and that it is so, so good. In Jesus' name, Amen. IVF stimulation doesn't create egg quality. It reveals it. Most people think an IVF cycle starts on day one of stimulation. Biologically, that's already too late. As lightning strikes and kills a bull in the herd, the animals scatter in panic, threatening to crush the hunters and their heavily loaded supply wagons. The men are forced to make a desperate run through the blinding rain and mud, barely escaping the thundering herd when the storm runoff carves out a massive rut in the earth, redirecting the buffalo away from their path and slowing the animals down in a nearby river.The following day, after the storm passes, the hunters venture out onto the prairie to survey the aftermath, following the winding, crooked trails left by the buffalo. Along the way, they witness the grim reality of the hide-hunting trade, coming across hundreds of decaying carcasses and spoiled hides left behind to rot by other hunters. After continuing their hunt for two more weeks to fulfill their quota of 557 hides, they haul their haul back to Fort Hays to collect their pay. My husband is challenged by a "cobalt conundrum". Several years back he was overexposed to wet cement, spending hours mixing it with his hands. (Big mistake) Shortly after he developed a severe body rash along with painful cramps and diarrhea. After many tests, they found an allergy to cobalt via a skin test, and we assume it relates to the cement mixing incident. Severely limiting cobalt both topically and in diet has helped, but he still struggles with GI issues. Functional medicine tests showed leaky gut. He attempted treatment but even one basic supplement (dairy free igg) caused severe stomach issues. Meanwhile he's missing vital nutrients from avoiding b12 (cobalt) etc. How can he address leaky gut and allergies when he's so sensitive to treatments? Leviticus is one of the most overlooked books in the Bible, yet it carries a profound answer to one of the most important questions anyone can ask: how does an unholy person connect with a holy God? Built around the concept of holiness, the book moves through sacrifices, priestly ordination, and purity laws, all building toward one goal: bringing God's people from outside the tent of meeting to inside it. At the very center of Leviticus is the Day of Atonement, the moment when sins are forgiven. This is no coincidence. Atonement is the heartbeat of the Old Testament, and it points directly forward to Jesus Christ.In Leviticus 8, God instructs Moses to ordain Aaron as the high priest. Aaron was called by God, cleansed through sacrifice, and clothed in holy garments that identified his role as a mediator between the people and a holy God. Blood was placed on his right earlobe, his right thumb, and his right big toe, symbolizing a life devoted to hearing God, serving God, and walking with God. He wore a breastplate bearing the names of the twelve tribes of Israel, carrying the people over his heart every time he entered God's presence. Yet for all of this, Aaron was still a flawed man. He led the people into idolatry with the golden calf, proving that no human high priest could ever truly save anyone. He was an imperfect picture pointing toward something far greater.Jesus is the greater High Priest that Aaron could only foreshadow. He was chosen by the Father, lived without sin, and gave Himself as a ransom for all of humanity. Through Him, believers are no longer standing outside the tent but have become the very dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. First Peter 2:9 declares that every believer is part of a royal priesthood, called to proclaim the excellencies of God and invite others into His presence. Just as the high priest carried the names of God's people over his heart, believers today are called to carry the names of those around them in prayer and look for every opportunity to bring them closer to God.
