Músico con recorrido y presencia sólidas en el ambiente musical de las últimas décadas ha conseguido nuevamente equilibrar lo popular cubano con lo jazzistico en este su segundo álbum. "El Seductor", pieza que da título al disco, es una de las más recientes creaciones del trombón de Santa Amalia quien, para suerte nuestra, reafirma su verdad acercándose con humildad y sabiduría a las claves misteriosas que determinan éxito y popularidad. Propuesta consistente donde abundan citas a temas clásicos cubanos e internacionales, fluyendo a la par del funky, la timba, la balada pop, la música disco, el rap e incluso el denostado y polémico género que actualmente sacude la isla: el reparto. Una riquísima explosión de matices melodicos, armónicos y rítmicos bien contemporáneos nos brinda Juan Carlos quien revela estar en su madurez artística. Buen recuerdo para Leonardo Acosta. Destacado músico, periodista, investigador y escritor, dedicó buena parte de su vida al estudio de las diversas corrientes evolutivas de la música popular cubana con una visión fresca y renovadora. Nacido en La Habana el 25 de agosto de 1933 su inclinación a la improvisación y la descarga le permitió, como saxofonista, integrarse al movimiento jazzistico en la isla. Fue integrante de la jazz band de Beny Moré, además de otras formaciones ocasionales vinculadas siempre al jazz. En su memoria dejamos correr estos tracks del álbum del pianista Paquito Echavarria titulado "Frankly" para el cual escribió sus notas. Leonardo Acosta falleció en La Habana el 23 de Septiembre de 2016. Para entender con mayor profundidad la evolución natural de la música popular cubana, será imprescindible tener en cuenta su obra. Unos minutos junto al saxofonista Román Filiú y su álbum joya: "Blowing Reflections" registrado en el 2006 durante su etapa madrileña. Le acompañaron Carlitos Sarduy en trompeta, los pianistas Iván "Melón" Lewis y Pepe Rivero, Yelsy Heredia en contrabajo y Noah Shaye en drums. Algo más del jazz cubano más contemporáneo. En agosto de 2017 se gestó en La Habana otro formidable álbum: "Rompimiento". Producción a cargo del pianista Michelle Fragoso y del contrabajista Néstor del Prado. En la despedida volvemos a uno de los hitos de la discografia independiente cubana. Producción Panart de la segunda mitad de los años 50s registrando el sonido del Grupo Folklórico del compositor Alberto Zayas con la colaboración de Tata Güines en las tumbadoras y Yeyito Iglesias en los bongoes.

Today, he looks much healthier, but Carolina is still trying to understand why he trips, struggles to turn right, becomes defensive when being girthed, and remains stiff through his neck.

Chuck Skewes grew up on Vashon Island, spending his childhood surrounded by boats and learning to sail in El Toros—the tee-ball equivalent for sailors. He developed a passion for racing and was a highly sought-after crew member for the local captains. During his summers, he worked on fishing boats in Alaska, a lucrative yet exhausting and dangerous job for a teenager.As he spent his days fishing, Skewes dreamed of becoming a professional sailor. This ambition led him to find work as a sailmaker and move to San Diego, where he could fully pursue his craft and passion.In his long career as a professional sailor, Skewes has won multiple national and regional championship titles across a variety of sailing classes. First came the "Bug Eye" Baja kit, pioneered by Miller-Havens and helping launch a whole new look for off-road Volkswagens. But the evolution of the Baja Bug was just getting started. After finding success with the Sandwinder dune buggy, Don Rountree and R&H Fiberglass turned their attention to fiberglass bodywork for the Volkswagen Beetle. Around 1972, Sandwinder introduced what would become one of the most recognizable Baja Bug designs of the era—the "Wide Eye" Baja kit. Instead of mounting the headlights close together in the nose like the earlier Bug Eye kits, the Wide Eye moved them outward into the fenders, creating the classic Baja look that would influence countless builds for decades. But there's a lot more to the story. On this episode of Let's Talk Dubs, we dig into the history behind Sandwinder and the people responsible for developing these early fiberglass kits. We hear how a sponsorship helped open the door, how the success of the Sandwinder buggy led to new opportunities, and how Burly became involved in designing everything from a '32 Ford-inspired kit to the now-iconic Wide Eye Baja kit. It's a fascinating piece of early Volkswagen off-road, dune buggy, and Baja Bug history, from the days when builders were experimenting with fiberglass and creating designs that would permanently change the look of the VW Beetle. What happens when the mission changes, but the drive to keep moving forward remains?Combat Vet Vision welcomes Giovanni Perez, a retired U.S. Army combat engineer, wounded veteran, adaptive motorcycle and off-road competitor, and veteran advocate whose post-service journey has taken him from Afghanistan to some of the toughest terrain in off-road racing.Giovanni lost his left arm while serving with the Army in Afghanistan. After returning home, motorcycles became more than recreation. Through adaptation, determination and the veteran community, riding became another place to find challenge, camaraderie and purpose.Giovanni has competed in desert and off-road events including the Baja 500, Baja 1000 and Vegas to Reno. His adaptive riding includes motorcycle modifications that allow him to ride with a prosthetic left arm. In the 2018 Baja 1000, he was part of a six-rider team that officially finished the legendary event.His story also extends beyond racing. Giovanni has been connected with the Warrior Built Foundation, an organization serving combat veterans and wounded service members through vocational and recreational opportunities, including fabrication, mechanics and off-road racing.
