In this episode of Slow Baja, we highlight our sponsor, Toby Pond of Scheel-Mann USA. Toby and I met during the 2022 NORRA 1000 event. I was on the side of the road in the Mag 7 pit, watching as my 50-year-old bench seat frame was being repaired. Pond was there supporting a Baja racing Porsche 911, which was the first Porsche to finish the NORRA. We struck up a conversation about seats, and he gently probed my thoughts on aftermarket options. Given the circumstances of the repair and how the seat had broken in the first place, I was feeling a bit cranky. I realized I was being snippy, so I adjusted my tone and poured Toby a sip of my sponsored Fortaleza Still Strength tequila. He mentioned that a colleague on the Porsche team was in the tequila industry and invited her over to join us. She quickly informed me that Still Strength was illegal in Mexico and was very curious about how I was "so connected" to be pouring Fortaleza—especially since they "never sponsor anything" —and Still Strength, which was quite rare, expensive, and illegal where we were enjoying it.Our friendship began during that dusty roadside repair in Baja. A few weeks later, a pair of Scheel-Mann seats: a Vario F for me and a Vario F XXL for my navigator were in Slow Baja. The improvement has been life-changing, and my back is much happier now. No exaggeration—the Scheel-Mann seats are by far the best modification I've made to my truck. Step into Episode 176 of On the Delo as Delo sits down with Andrew, Executive Director of the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, to unpack what's really happening across Arizona beer—on the brewhouse floor, at the Capitol, and out in the community. From a 20-year restaurant career to head brewer roles at The Perch and Uncle Bear's, and ultimately joining the Guild in February 2022, Andrew lays out a no-spin view of the landscape and where the wins are coming from.If you care about healthy breweries, smarter laws, and stronger taprooms, this one delivers: the event engine that funds promotion, the practical policy changes (including a hard reduction in minimum production requirements), the real challenges operators face (tourism and top-line), and why non-alcoholic offerings matter for safety and inclusion—all capped with what to expect at Arizona Beer Week and the Guild's GABF presence.Chapter Guide (Timestamps): (0:18 - 3:31) Episode Intro & Origin Story — Restaurants → The Perch → Uncle Bear's → joining the Guild (Feb 2022) (3:31 - 4:41) From Brewhouse to Business — Event season (Arizona Strong Beer Fest, Beer Week, Baja) and the “promote & protect” mission (4:41 - 5:13) Naming Matters — Reframing “Arizona Strong Beer” to clarify the festival's scope (5:13 - 7:10) Guild Snapshot — Founded in 1998, ~100 breweries statewide; 67 current members and rolling sign-ups (7:10 - 10:46) Policy Wins — Minimum production cut from 5,000 → 1,000 gallons; relief for small/innovation sites (e.g., PV pilot, Bisbee example) (10:46 - 12:48) Modernizing Service — Growler rule updates and Arizona's pro–small business footing (13:51 - 16:48) Operator Reality — Hiring stabilizes, tourism dips; focus on top-line + cross-guild collaboration and “brewery-in-planning” value (23:30 - 27:12) Inclusive Options — Non-alcoholic beer is hard and capital-intensive; hop waters and elevated N/A choices (Hoplark shout-out) (27:22 - 30:45) Arizona Beer Week — Why it runs 10 days; Pink Boots arm-wrestling, Cicerone education, and festival audience trends (33:58 - 35:37) GABF Playbook — Arizona's booth with a tourism film—showcasing the state while championing AZ beer
Cameron Steele joins us for Chapter 375! Cam has lived every facet of the action sports life — from growing up watching his dad race trucks, to racing motocross in his youth, freeriding, and riding in the early days of Freestyle Motocross. He went on to land a commentating gig, building an incredible career in action sports, from calling some of the biggest X Games moments — like Travis Pastrana's double backflip — to becoming a voice on ESPN and covering legendary off-road events like the Baja 1000. But Cam hasn't just commentated at Baja — he's raced it numerous times on both two and four wheels, and still competes today in his truck, racing through the deserts of Mexico. What makes Cameron stand out is how he carries himself and gives back, channeling the positive energy from off-road racing into sharing the stoke with others, supporting communities, and helping those less fortunate.Cam is a stand-up guy, and we're stoked to finally have him on the podcast — this one was a long time coming. Cartel violence in Mexico has been marked by some of the most shocking atrocities in modern criminal history, blending organized crime with open terror. The Los Zetas cartel became infamous for mass killings such as the 2010 massacre of 72 migrants in Tamaulipas, and the 2011 San Fernando massacre where 193 kidnapped bus passengers were tortured, murdered, and buried in mass graves. They further displayed their brutality in 2012 by leaving 49 decapitated and mutilated bodies along a highway in Nuevo León. These atrocities were not just acts of violence, but public spectacles designed to enforce fear, dominance, and territorial control across swathes of Mexico.More recently, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) has escalated the brutality through methods that resemble war crimes. Authorities uncovered “schools of terror” where teenage recruits were forced into cannibalism, mutilation, and psychological training to become hardened killers. In Jalisco, investigators also discovered an extermination camp with ovens and human remains, underscoring the industrial scale of cartel violence. With over 120,000 people reported missing in Mexico, these discoveries highlight how cartels have transformed from profit-driven enterprises into entities that use mass atrocities, ritualized violence, and fear-based governance as central tools of power.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Baja, Chihuahua among top 3 in Mexico for ‘atrocities' | BorderReport

«Porque todo el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; y todo el que pierda su vida por causa de mí, la hallará» (Mateo 16:25) ¿La vida de alta calidad… o la vida de baja calidad? ¿La vida de Dios… o la vida del mundo? No puedes tener ambas. During Natanael Cano’s performance at Baja Beach Fest 2025, technical issues with the audio led to a heated outburst. Frustrated, Natanael Cano got into a physical altercation with his DJ on stage—hitting him and then smashing the DJ’s laptop in front of the crowd. He later showed his injured knuckles to the audience, saying he had punched the DJ. The incident caused a mixed reaction from fans and criticism from the music community. In this episode of the Off-Road Racer Podcast, we sit down with Dan Roush — a racer with a story unlike any we've heard before. Dan isn't a household name in the off-road world, but his life was forever changed in an instant during a brutal crash in Baja. In the moments after the impact, Dan made the conscious choice to keep breathing, fight through the pain, and survive. From the details of that day to the long road of recovery, Dan shares his journey with honesty and perspective. We talk about how his crash reshaped his outlook on life, what it taught him about resilience, and why the off-road community played such an important role in his healing. This is more than just a racing story — it's a story about the human spirit, perseverance, and finding strength in the face of overwhelming challenges.
