This week on Regional Rasslin', it's a look into more Georgia Wrestling history courtesy of host Ray Russell and Guest Rick Fields. Talking the years of 1955 - 1957. In this era, Georgia wrestling took a major step forward as the promotion began bringing in nationally recognized stars from Chicago and the DuMont television network while introducing fans to increasingly wild gimmick matches like Indian Strap Matches, Texas Death Matches, Boxing bouts, and even "mask vs. loser leave town" encounters. Jerry Graham remained one of the promotion's top heels, while the fierce rivalry between Freddie Blassie and the McIntyre brothers became the backbone of the territory. During this period, Georgia also expanded its touring schedule well beyond Atlanta, establishing a regular loop of towns that helped grow wrestling across the entire state.  Plus, Augusta gets its own TV, and a steady parade of legendary names passed through including Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, Argentina Rocca, Verne Gagne, Dick the Bruiser, Bull Curry, the Lewin Brothers, and many others. We'll follow the Southern Championship lineage, the top rivalries, the expansion of the territory, and the foundation being laid for what would soon become one of wrestling's premier promotions. In Episode 487 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with Vali Nasr — professor of international affairs and Middle East studies at Johns Hopkins University, non-resident senior advisor in the Middle East program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and author of Iran's Grand Strategy: A Political History — about the argument that the Islamic Republic's conduct is driven far less by religious ideology than by national insecurity and historical grievance, how that reframing bears on US and Western policy and the nuclear negotiations, the forces that forged the Islamic Republic into what it is today, and the range of likely outcomes for Iran, the region, and the global economy. The first hour examines the central argument of Vali's work—drawn from his book and a recent Foreign Affairs article co-authored with Narges Bajoghli—that the Islamic Republic's conduct is driven far less by religious ideology than by a deeply entrenched sense of national insecurity and historical grievance rooted in Iran's long experience of foreign domination. They trace that experience through Iran's centuries of isolation and weakness, the imperial penetration of the nineteenth century, and the 1953 coup against Mohammad Mossadegh, before turning to why the distinction between ideology and rational national interest is so consequential for how the United States, Tel Aviv, and the West approach Iran—nowhere more so than in the nuclear negotiations. The second hour turns to the forces that made the Islamic Republic what it is today, beginning with the eight-year Iran-Iraq War—the crucible in which its current leadership, its institutions, and the Revolutionary Guards were formed, and from which Iran drew its doctrine of forward defense and proxy warfare. From there they examine Iran's nuclear program as an instrument of negotiation and deterrence rather than an end in itself, the effects of the maximum pressure campaign and sanctions, and how the latest war has accelerated cultural change inside the country. The conversation closes by drawing a parallel between the collapse of the Safavid state in 1722 and China's century of humiliation before considering the range of likely outcomes—including whether a grand bargain is possible and what the default scenario looks like for Iran, the region, and the global economy if the status quo persists. A few weeks ago, one of our Launch Your Box members, Leslie, made a post that stopped me in my tracks: she'd been running her subscription box for three years and still had zero subscribers. Zero. I dug into her social media and website, because I knew there had to be a reason — and it wasn't the product. It was the offer. We're Too Close to Our Own Business When you live inside your business every day, you know what you mean — but your customers don't. Landing on Leslie's site, I was immediately confused about her subscription options and pricing. Confusion kills conversions: when people don't understand an offer, they leave. A Great Product Isn't Enough Leslie's tea subscription is genuinely lovely, built around a relaxing customer experience. The product wasn't the problem — clarity was. Her pricing felt more complicated than it needed to be, and there wasn't enough information to help someone picture the experience. Product Pages Don't Sell Experiences A subscription box isn't just a product — it's an experience. People need to picture themselves enjoying what's inside and understand why they'll look forward to it each month. I encouraged Leslie to move beyond a simple product page to a true sales page that tells the story and helps customers connect emotionally. Because people don't buy tea — they buy a quiet morning ritual, a feeling. The Simpler the Offer, the Better The more choices and explanations you force on customers, the harder it is for them to say yes. My advice: simplify, lead with one clear offer, and make it instantly obvious what they're getting and what it costs. What You Can Learn From This If your box isn't converting, don't assume it's the product — look at your offer with fresh eyes: Is my pricing clear? Is my messaging clear? Can someone instantly understand what they're getting? Am I selling products, or an experience? Sometimes the smallest tweaks create the biggest breakthroughs — and for Leslie, a little more clarity will make all the difference. The second hour opens with the 2011 intervention in Libya and the doctrine of the responsibility to protect, which Shapiro argues was cynically deployed to topple Muammar Gaddafi, leaving behind a failed state and further discrediting the international norms it was meant to uphold. From there, they trace the cascading fallout across the Middle East and Europe—through Syria and Ukraine—to the present moment, before turning to the central political question of the age: whether mainstream parties can deliver an industrial policy and a model of inclusive growth capable of addressing the economic grievances and insecurities driving the populist revolt across the democratic world.
