Finn didn't come from insurance. He came from startups — real estate, entertainment, a TPA. But when he looked at the Canadian Insurtech landscape and saw how much was being left on the table, he decided to do something about it.He took over InsurTech Canada. And then he started rebuilding it from the ground up.In the latest episode of the Leadership in Insurance Podcast, host Alex Bond sits down with Finn for a wide-ranging conversation about what it really takes to build an insurtech ecosystem — not just talk about one.Finn shares how he transformed InsurTech Canada from a non-profit meetup organisation into a for-profit, deal-flow-focused platform with a curated membership of 27 companies. And he opens up about his next move: launching an InsurTech investment fund, focused primarily on Canadian companies but with eyes on the US and UK markets too. They also get into:✅ Why Canada lags 2–3 years behind other markets — and what needs to change✅ The talent drain pulling founders and operators south of the border✅ How to evaluate founders (and why people skills matter as much as product)✅ His vision for Canada to become a genuine global hub for InsurTech innovation✅ What it means to have "skin in the game" when you're championing an ecosystemWith a clear commercial mindset, a growing network across carriers, brokers, MGAs, and capital providers — and a fund on the horizon — Finn is one to watch.#LeadershipInInsurance #Podcast #Insurtech #InsurtechCanada #VC #Innovation #Insurance #Canada Hosted on Acast. New here? Start with our Start Here playlist — five episodes that will change how you think about motherhood. If you've ever said yes when you meant no, stayed silent when something bothered you, or felt guilty the moment you tried to set a limit — this episode is going to name exactly what's been going on. And more importantly, it's going to give you a way out. JoAnn sits down with Hailey Magee, people-pleasing coach and author of Stop People Pleasing and Find Your Power, to dig into why so many women become people pleasers in the first place, what's actually happening when boundaries feel impossible, and the small, practical shifts that make it easier to start standing up for your own needs — without feeling like the villain. In this episode: Why people-pleasing is a safety mechanism, not a personality flaw — and the three kinds of safety it's trying to protect Why neurodivergent women and women from marginalized groups are especially likely to develop people-pleasing as a survival skill The crucial difference between a boundary and a request — and why your "boundaries" might not be working because they're actually requests Why boundary guilt is almost universal — and the reframe that makes it survivable The "meaning vacuum": what happens to your identity when a major life chapter ends and the new one hasn't started yet How to tell when you have an unmet need before you even know what it is (Hailey's need signpost tool) Why feeling "too sensitive" or "too demanding" when you set a boundary is actually a sign you're doing it right The post-boundary self-care plan — why you need one and what it looks like in practice One small shift to start rebuilding self-trust: track what drains you vs. what energizes you JoAnn also shares the real dinner table moment that prompted a boundary conversation with her family, and the first time she ever redirected a draining professional relationship by email — and how it felt on the other side.
In today's market, growth isn't just about growing a rent roll. It's about becoming the agency that landlords, talent, and clients actively choose and actually want to be part of. On The Property Management Excellence (PMX) Podcast, Alex Whitlock is joined by Phil Tarrant and Michael Magee to discuss the shift from simply growing rent rolls to building businesses that attract top talent, loyal clients, and long-term growth. The trio pull back the curtain on what goes into creating one of Australia's biggest property management events, and explain why industry recognition has become a genuine commercial advantage rather than just another trophy. Attention then turns to the focus of this year's PMX Conference, building an attraction business, with the conversation highlighting the agencies investing in culture, leadership, and client experience to stand out in an increasingly competitive market. As the profession evolves, Whitlock, Tarrant, and Magee agree that the future belongs to agencies that can clearly articulate their value, embrace innovation, and build businesses people genuinely want to work with and work for.

Kate and Sheila are joined by Jonah as they recap Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli.Their one word choices were Kind, Protect, and Brave. The beginning is grim. A tragic accident leaves Jeffery Magee an orphan at the age of three. He is sent to live with a divided family, his aunt and uncle do not talk to each other. By age 11 Jeffery runs away and ends up in Two Mills, a divided town. East side versus West side, of course, to Jeffery there are no sides. He meets a girl hefting a suitcase to school. Amanda Beale is the real deal. She carries her beloved books to school each day to prevent her siblings from destroying them. Jeffery pleads for a book, Amanda reluctantly gives in: Friendship begins!Later on, Jeffery gets the name, Maniac, and becomes a town legend. He runs unbelievably fast, hits homeruns against the neighborhood bully, sleeps in the buffalo pen at the zoo and even beats the town's fastest runner, Mars Bar, in a contest. Did I mention Maniac was running backwards? What can we learn from Maniac? He wants to make the world a better place by being kind to every person he meets. In a town with social inequality and racial tension Maniac bravely searches for a place to belong; to find a family. Does he find one? Is he able to untie the famous Cobble's knot and get free pizza for a year? Will he be able to teach an elderly man how to read and prevent two misguided kids from running away? There are many ‘knots' to untie in this Newbury winner from 1991! Isn't life like untying knots? Let's see problems as opportunities to grow and help others like Maniac did. He lived each moment to the fullest. Are you ready to meet the Legend? Let's connect to reflect! Blessings!

The weekly podcast of Empowerment Ministries Christian Center, led by Pastor Irene T. Magee
⚠️ Trigger Warning: Please watch with care. ⚠️Pastor Irene Magee shares how molestation, rejection, motherhood, ministry, and healing all shaped her journey to finding her worth. She opens up about how childhood sexual abuse, family separation, and deep feelings of guilt and rejection affected the way she saw herself for years, and how God slowly began restoring what trauma tried to steal. In this episode of Between Me and You, Irene talks honestly about growing up without the stability of her parents, being abused by people she trusted, and carrying the painful belief that her parents' divorce was somehow her fault. She explains how those early experiences damaged her self-worth, made her value the idea of family at any cost, and shaped the way she approached love, relationships, and even her own body. Irene also shares how sexual abuse, rejection, and anger followed her into adulthood and into marriage. She reflects on the healing process, the shame she had to confront, and the deliverance she experienced as God began breaking soul ties, restoring intimacy, and teaching her how to receive love in a healthy way. This part of the conversation is deeply honest and offers real hope for women who have carried pain into places that were supposed to feel safe. This conversation also explores what it looked like to become a young wife, mother, and first lady while still carrying unresolved wounds. Irene talks about the pressure of trying to fit the mold of who people expected her to be, the judgment she faced from others, and how she had to learn to stop performing and start serving from an authentic place. She shares how God used her story to make her a different kind of first lady, one who leads with compassion instead of condemnation. We also talk about motherhood, generational pain, healing as a woman, and how finding your worth changes the way you raise your children. Irene speaks about her growth as a mother, the ways anger once affected her parenting, and how healing taught her to lead with more grace, wisdom, and intentionality. She also offers practical insight on marriage, finances, friendship, purpose, and what it looks like to keep becoming while carrying many roles at once. This episode is for the woman who has ever felt devalued, the mother trying to heal while still showing up for everybody else, the wife working through what past pain did to her view of love, and the person who has been carrying shame, rejection, or anger for far too long. Irene's story is a reminder that trauma does not have to have the final say, and that God still knows how to restore worth, redeem pain, and bring healing to every broken place.Watch the full conversation, then click the link in the description to join our community. Her journey from her homeland of Belfast brought her here in 2014 to make a mark in Austin's music scene, however that's only the beginning. The founder of Music Helps connecting musicians with “ at- risk youth” and then the director of the “She Rises Fest ” that celebrates women in music and the arts, you can see how I'm completely enamored with her passionate soul. That first ride on a 500cc Grand Prix bike - Kevin Magee remembers it in visceral detail.Racing in Japan and the mark he made there on the way to what we now know as MotoGP.Racing for Kenny Robert’s Yamaha including a podium in Portugal. Finally adding his name to that prestigious list of Grand Prix winners on a memorable day in Spain. A frightening cool down lap crash in the late 80’s and the media mistakenly reporting his death at Laguna Seca! He would come back to win races in Superbikes but how tough it was to deal with the premature end of his GP career. And the remarkable story of helping a blind rider break a world record. This conversation leaves you in no doubt of Magee’s talent but like so many in this brutal sport the tradjectory can change suddenly.
