Since I got beat me down with questions on wealth building I just brought back the man, Maurice Wilson CEO of the Wilson Wealth Management Group to answer some question that the audience had, as me and him just shoot the sh*t in a public form.   On the Previous episode Maurice dropped some great gems on wealth building. He talks about how you can build your money up or how he can help you build your money up.    (The cool thing about this is I keep it uncut and raw so all my flaws can be seen... I never want to come across as perfect) but the audio can be fast forwarded to

Welcome back to the Beard Talk with a Veteran podcast with Tyran Cosby. The topic of this episode came from a few personal experiences that Tyran has had when trying to support black-owned businesses and the thoughts that came to mind as a result.Tyran does his best to support black-owned businesses whenever possible because he wants to see black people do well and succeed despite the lack of support they get from the rest of the world. While it is true that black people have always been mistreated, things are getting better and it isn’t helpful to go around with a chip on your shoulder because of the past or present. Sometimes supporting black-owned businesses has worked out great, but sometimes he has been burned by people who want to win but don’t want to put in the effort. In a few specific instances, Tyran has found himself on the wrong end of a poor business deal because the people he had hired did not communicate effectively and even ignored what he wanted and just did whatever they wanted to do. For Tyran and Gary, Life Behind the Beard has not always been easy, but it has always been worth the effort, and when they have made mistakes, they have owned up in order to make things right. Tyran’s message to other black business owners is: put in the work, communicate, and care about what you are doing. Also, there is only one boss, so if you are not it, know your place and do your best there without copping an attitude. Topics Covered on this Episode:Supporting black-owned businessesHow to be successful in businessMistakes people make Knowing your place in your work Connect with Us:https://www.lifebehindthebeard.co/https://www.instagram.com/lifebehindthebeard__/https://www.instagram.com/lifebehindthebeard101/https://www.facebook.com/lifebehindthebeard101/ https://www.instagram.com/retired_guy38/https://www.facebook.com/tecosby

    Life Behind the Beard Talk

This episode’s special guest is the other half of Life Behind the Beard, Tyran’s business partner, Gary. The two just got back to the States from a much-needed trip to Jamaica to cleanse and purify their lives and get a reset before the new year. They have come to realize that getting out of the country for a few days to a place where they can control their atmosphere has a way of centering them and giving them the clarity and energy they need to jump back into business and life.Gary is a 4-year veteran of the Marine Corps and he realized after his honorable discharge that he couldn’t work for anyone else and he needed to be in a place where he could be himself and just get stuff done. He believes that unless you are wanting to go into a skilled profession that requires a college degree, college overall isn’t a necessity in order to be set up to be successful in life. The important thing is to follow your passion, to be committed to your work, and to just do your job. Kids these days need to learn valuable lessons like this before they screw up their lives.Gary and Tyran recognize that there are huge differences in the way today’s kids are being raised and how their parents were raised. Nowadays, kids have no respect for authority and the negative influences in their lives overshadow the positive ones. Instead of looking up to their grandparents and learning from them by example and through discipline, kids are looking up to people that they see on social media and they are being exposed to terrible content on tv at a very young age. Finally, Tyran and Gary talk about their business relationship and how they have been successful with Life Behind the Beard. Many people say that you shouldn’t go into business with your friends, but Gary and Tyran say that friends you trust and have rapport with make the best business partners because of the built-in accountability and ability to keep each other on track. When starting your own business, Gary’s advice is to read as much as you can and then find people who are successful at what you want to do and seek to be of service to them. This is the best way to learn and to get to know the business before jumping in and risking everything. Topics Covered on this Episode:Whether college is a necessityWhy kids today are so messed upWorking with friendsTyran and Gary’s recent trip to JamaicaTips when starting your own business Connect with Us:https://www.lifebehindthebeard.co/https://www.instagram.com/lifebehindthebeard__/https://www.instagram.com/lifebehindthebeard101/https://www.facebook.com/lifebehindthebeard101/ https://www.instagram.com/retired_guy38/https://www.facebook.com/tecosby

    Failing is Cool

Summary:The topic of this episode of the Beard Talk with a Veteran podcast is why failing is cool. There is so much talk about wanting to be successful, to have a perfect marriage, and to never struggle, but the only way to truly find success is by persevering through failures and learn lessons along the way. Relationships are a great example of this. If you do or say the wrong thing, the way to find success is by learning from your mistakes and doing better the next time that situation comes along. Success comes from being on the same page as your spouse, learning together what it means to be in a marriage relationship, and being committed to each other through all of the ups and downs of life. The only true way to fail in a relationship is to stop trying. It takes a lot of learning and patience to make a marriage work, and it will never look as “happily ever after” as you expect it to look, but you will be stronger together because of your struggles. One final thought to consider if you are continually having issues in your relationships: Could you live with yourself? Think long and hard about the answer to this question, because it could be that you need to do some work within yourself in order to make your marriage more successful. Topics Covered on this Episode:Today’s successes began as yesterday’s failuresYou don’t fail until you stopPutting in the work necessary for relationships Connect with Tyran:https://www.lifebehindthebeard.co/

    Communication Is Key

Congratulations! You have found the Beard Talk with a Veteran podcast and you are in for some real advice based on your host, Tyran’s, raw perspective on life. Tyran is a veteran who has co-founded a company called Life Behind the Beard, offering men’s grooming products of superior quality. On this episode of the podcast, he talks about communication and how crucial it is to the maintenance of relationships – business, personal, and otherwise. He met his future wife on a whim, randomly walking up to her on the campus of NC State to prove to his buddy that he could get her number. He was stationed elsewhere in North Carolina at the time, but before long they were talking on the phone every night and they developed a strong relationship despite their distance apart.Eventually, they got married and had a baby while she was in medical school in Tennessee and he was stationed in Atlanta. They had to live apart for many years during Tyran’s service in the military, and they had to live a lot of life together over the phone, talking about the good, the bad, and the ugly when it was necessary, not because they wanted to but because they knew that if they wanted a healthy and strong relationship, they had to communicate.Tyran says that so many people do not want to put in the effort of honestly communicating with others, but that you can’t really have an open and genuine relationship with someone unless you are consistently communicating with them. He has seen first-hand the impact that speaking honestly with someone can have, from his military colleagues to his wife to his children to people he is in business with. Do your part to maintain good relationships with those around you and let go of your ego if you feel like there is something between you and someone else and take the necessary steps to clear it up. Topics Covered on this Episode:Communication is keyTyran’s experiences with communication in his marriageLetting go of your egoBeing honest about what you need Connect with Tyran:https://www.lifebehindthebeard.co/
