Close to my roots, I like to say that I grew up in a family of carpenters, because I inherited there a strong idea of construction, creation. I later rediscovered this power of creation through audiovisual production. So, little by little, I started to film and direct simple stories with friends, edits of video games, sports and with time I developed a real passion for video. As a filmmaker and educator, Rick Minnich was born and raised in the American West, coming of age during the last years of the Cold War. After living on both sides of the Iron Curtain, he settled in Berlin months after the Wall came tumbling down. Rick has dedicated his life to building bridges, rather than walls. His films cover a wide range of subjects, from growing up in the US during the Reagan era, his search for the perfect America, a foray into hillbilly music, the mysteries of amnesia, undetonated World War II bombs in Germany, and the attempt to connect Russia and the US with a tunnel beneath the Bering Strait. What all of Rick's films have in common is a passion for intelligent and entertaining storytelling with a heart and a deep love of humanity. Emily lives a minimalist lifestyle fitting everything she owns in her camera backpack and suitcase. There is more camera gear than clothes, and this shows you where her priorities are. It also allows her to document while changing continents every few months. She is usually following the migration of freerunners, or parkour athletes, in search of warmer weather and city environments. Social media has made this lifestyle possible as a career choice, instead of just a youthful excursion. At times these images can make your palms sweat, especially if you have a fear of heights. She pushes you into experiencing other cultures through her pictures. Bringing you to places you probably shouldn't be is part of the fun.
