Jesus final and departing words were spoken to his disciples in John chapter 14-17. The instruction to His disciples was the blue print of God's design for the church. The most significant and important command that Jesus gave was to "love one another as He had love us." Jesus said people would know we are His disciples by our love. We as Christians put so much emphasis on our performance and production for God. We can busy ourselves with serving in the church and attending church services. These are no doubt important but are secondary. God is looking for fruit but our fruit is a product of one thing. John 15 assures us how to produce much fruit. It is to "abide in Christ." God uses test in our lives to mold us and shape us. There is not a test we go through in life that is not without significance. God promised Israel that He would lead them to the promise land. His instruction for Israel was to be strong and courageous to keep and observe to do. However, now that we see Israel is crossing over the Jordan, God made a specific appointment to meet in Jericho with a woman who was a prostitute. Inherit you inheritance! As nice as it might seem, the blessings and inheritance that God has provided must be taken by faith. When God told Joshua to go possess the promise land, He told Joshua that the land was already theirs but they must possess it. Easier said than done due to the fact that their proven leader "Moses" was dead. The nation was in mourning and had no other proven leader. That's when Joshua receives his call.
