EP26 - What is Self Motivation?

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 8, 2022 12:20

Quote: “The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty." — Winston Churchill Let's talk about it! Why do we need motivation? Without motivation we would not have the need or ability to continue pushing forward in every circumstance we face in life. This can apply to school, work, personal goals, family life, or even in your walk with Christ or your religion. How do we stay motivated? In order to stay motivated most of us like to see some sort of progress towards our goals, we want that confirmation that we are moving in the right direction and all things are coming together. However that isn't always the case. We ponder what to do when we feel lost & unmotivated. Personally, I've been here more times then not. I know what it's like to be working towards several goals at once and being overwhelmed that everything isn't going to get done or accomplished. Ex: I have worked full time in my career while also taking 1-2 online college classes to further my education while still having to maintain motivation in my personal life to keep going with my fitness goals and purpose related goals when it comes to being a creative. Ex: my podcast It's not always easy but I try to rely on God and look for the opportunity / lesson in every situation and season. God would not put me in a place he doesn't want me to lead or work. There's a reason for everything and that's something I have to continuously remind myself even when the motivation is not there. Self motivation relates to emotional intelligence because one cannot be open and willing to perceive different perspectives and emotions from others, when they can't even understand or stay committed to their own self drive, interpersonal emotions, and goals in life. Motivational Quotes in the Bible Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV) "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:28 "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. LETS CONNECT! “You can only understand people if you feel them in yourself” - John Steinbeck What is empathy? - one ability to understand & relate to the feelings of others How to be empathetic? - Being aware of other people's feelings, not being self centered & considering not only the effect of an action to you but also how it would affect others Who does empathy affect? - at work, empathy with family and kids included ,empathy in a relationship etc **one ability to show Empathy can effect any type of relationship, think about all relationships take 2 and it's important to be able to relate and considerate towards others Christian Perspective: God created all humans as equal, there is not one human who is superior to another. He created us to be like minded so that we can relate to another & be compassionate, kind, & loving towards one another. But without empathy none of those things are possible, God says love your brothers and sisters and treat them how you would want to be treated (during the good times and bad times) everyday / daily. 1 Peter 3:8 ESV Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 1 Corinthians 12:26 ESV If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Those Who looks outside, dreams; those who looks inside, awakes.” What is Self awareness: one's ability to pin point how they're feeling & why in efforts of better understanding their own emotions & how it affects those around you. How do you become more self aware? - Embrace your emotions - take accountability for your action & Eliminate excuses - Assess your motives & Ask yourself “why”? - Learn your own strengths & weakness Christian perspective: As a Christian, God wants us all to be more self aware. This means ensuring we align our words, thoughts, and actions with biblical perspectives and teachings. Ephesians 4:22-24 ESV To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. 2 Corinthians 13:5 - Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? Proverbs 14:8 - The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit. EP22 - A Tired Heart

Hey You! Welcome back to another episode, today we will be discussing what do you do when you're tired of waiting for an outcome, tired of praying over a circumstance, and just flat out tired of things not going how you expected or hoped them to? I think we all can get like this from time to time in our spiritual journey and walk with God. It is normal to get tired and not just in the physical sense but in the spiritual sense too. But, The battle lays between what choices you make when you're at this place of having a tired heart. Please remember that just because things don't seem to be getting better or going as you planned/hoped for, God is still working and He is still in control of the outcome. Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Galatians 6:9 - And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. LETS CONNECT! Hey You! Todays Episode is one I've been excited to share with you for a while now. We will be discussing the importance of surrounding yourself with a strong community of fellow believers. God did not make us to live life alone and isolated, God wants us to be apart of a community and form bonds with our fellow brothers and sisters in christ. Personally, it took a long time for me to realize this. Mostly because growing up I was shy but I never let go of that and accepted my need and want to be a social butterfly, to be around people, to have companionships. I believe much of my “shyness” and self isolation came from past experiences, issues with trust, and depression. But as I continue to grow, heal, and walk my journey with my Heavenly Father I am becoming all that He made me to me. I am walking in HIS WILL and meeting the people He intended for me to have bonds with, I am opening up more and becoming comfortasble with making strong connections with others that will help me along my journey and relationship with God. I hope this episode inspires and encourages you to the same! “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” 1 Corinthians 1:10 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 17:27 “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:2-6 LETS CONNECT!
