“Send Coach John a message”I found an amazingly short and simple item that I know I need to add to my to do list - maybe you do too. It comes from The Motivational Quotes (@MQUOTESLIFE) and the to-do item is this:  “Sometimes rest is the most productive thing you can do.”  One reason I see this as a good thing is that I'm getting older and so I can justify it a bit more.  But I'm also seeing the truth and importance of this truth too. To get through the tough moments that life can throw at us nowadays, really finding the time to rest and recharge is becoming more of a necessity instead of something to say “oh I wish I could rest and recharge”.  By resting, recharging, clearing our head, feeling better, recovering, etc., is that we can be better to go back and deal with things a bit later. “Send Coach John a message”I found something I wanted to share and it comes from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) and it's something that adds to my strength and optimism here in the new year.  “Remaining positive doesn't mean you have to be happy all the time.  It means that even on tough days, you hold onto the belief that better days are on the horizon.” This is something that has been a part of my mindset for a long time. However, I needed reminding of this fact as there are plenty of times I forget the second part as I wallow away in dealing with negativity at times. It helps remind me that I am the one that has a major say in creating better days in my life!! Super powerful and inspiring post I found from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) “Never trust your fears; they don't know your strength.”  WOW… did I need to connect with this. My fears have had more of a driver's seat in my life than I care to admit and in driving “my bus”, when picking up my strengths at the different bus stops - many times they force my strengths to sit in the back of the bus or they never even stopped to pick them up!!  It's time for me to stop my bus (my life's journey) - not totally kick my fears off the bus because they are who I am in many ways. Maybe just have them sit in a seat behind me - buckled in… keep a few seats around them open for now so they don't influence “anyone else”. Life's journey is never dull when you take a look at yourself in the mirror and find the MANY things to keep working on to improve. This is a powerful connection to a former student that recently passed away and it's something I know I want to keep working on having in my life. The thought comes from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) where this truth was shared: “Be good to people. You will be remembered more for your kindness than any other level of success you could possibly attain.”  So many of the posts that I saw from others about this student all had kindness being a part of what they remembered about him. Thinking back to the times I got to work with him and his classmates (more than 25 years ago), there were a lot of laughs, many great talks we had, but most importantly - I do remember looking back on those times and witnessing this students' kindness towards others. Thinking back to this - it's amazing that he was such a great example for so many others and that so many of those people paid attention to pick that important lesson up. I found a post that really got me thinking about things and there are some thoughts of mine that come with it too. (of course there is, that's what my show is all about)  This one came from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) where this reminder was posted for all of us, and I can see that it covers all humans, just about every day!  “You're being tested because you're evolving. This is your turning point. Don't let it break you.” Since we are changing all the time as we get older and time goes marching by, we have multiple opportunities to keep getting better and not to give up and quit. It makes sense to not only have awesome people around us that inspire us, but also that we spend our time going after or creating things that “fire us up”! This was eye-opening for me. When I came across this post from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) which shares a great idea as to what inner peace is all about. This reminded us that: “Inner Peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.”  The first thing that came to my mind was the fact that I need to work on this a lot more and that every day brings us many times where we have to deal with other people and events that make it tough.  But then as I was recording, I thought about that and I took the view that I'm getting plenty of opportunities to strengthen this “muscle” of choice - and that's how I'm going to get better! I can't complain about these people and events - they are going to be there no matter what! I can focus on using them as moments / lessons, where I can get better! That was a very powerful mindshift for me.
