Vayikra, And the source of all life calls us not only to experience the sacred dimension of life but also to be creators of them. We create a sanctuary for God to dwell when we infuse our actions and relations with grand and gentle gestures.

The Sinai theophany, as written in the Torah, is a window for us to peer through. And ask, what do we see? What do we experience? We are called to look out and look in and renew the Sinai experience daily - full of possibility. Re-imagining Revelation, not as a one time event, but a continual evolving unfolding experience of God

This Passover ritual is also a powerful and transformative heart centered practice that can guide us towards our own personal liberation. I remember that this story can be mapped onto my own life. That I can cause myself suffering. That I can liberate myself. That I can honor my heart by approaching it with holiness and not heaviness. That to get out of Mitzrayim- my own personal narrow place I have to read myself into the text and confront my own inner pharoah.
We continue Moses’s fight today. We continue Martin Luther King’s fight today. We honor the legacies of Abraham Joshua Heschel and Martin Luther King- friends, who stood up in the face of injustice and cried out for unity.
Moses, our biblical hero archytype from here on out will guide us in. In his exploration of what exile and redemption mean, Moses will be called to understand exile’s relationship to suffering and injustice and Redemption’s relationship to liberation and justice. Moses will learn these lessons, first, from the women who surround him.

Welcome to the end of the beginning. We close one book and open a new one. Arriving and leave-taking, Birth and death, feuds and harmony, Beginnings and endings, and the spaces in between. This to me is what Genesis is coming to share with us. To marvel at creation, to awaken to our mortality and to practice the sacred art of transitions.
