Podcast by Jennie Ketcham
Join me and Danny Felsenfeld, brilliant composer/Julliard professor/author/and friend, as we explore friendship, fatherhood, and what it means to hold on to an image of one's self for almost the entire duration of one's life (poor little goldfish!). You might notice this runs a bit longer than the average, and you might also notice that my obsession with guest levels also run a bit higher than normal. Danny's kind soul and generous spirit make for thoughtful conversation, and I can't get enough of him.
Join me and my favorite man on the planet, my sweet husband, as we talk about what it was like for him to transition into fatherhood, decisions about whether or not the current job fulfills him, and how to take back some of his delicious energy pie.
Join me and the most lovely, Jennifer Lovely, wellness coach and owner and yoga/pilates instructor at The Studio Whidbey. Jennifer has overcome some of the most challenging life circumstances, from childhood sexual abuse to love addiction and attraction to unhealthy relationships, Jennifer's outlook is one of the healthiest and most vibrantly forgiving perspectives I've encountered in a long time. I'm obsessed with her - but in a super healthy way. You can find her (and hire her if you so desire!) at https://thestudiowhidbey.com/coaching-movement
A shorter podcast, today is a little update about some current transitions in my life - health related action steps, growing up and growing out, and destroying the wall in the bathroom make for this well-rounded podcast.
Join me for a conversation with grad student Isabel Jennings to discuss her dream of creating a fair trade porn website for performers - DISRUPT THE PATRIARCHY!!!! But seriously, this was a fascinating conversation for me - hope you enjoy.
Join me and my Aunt Suzi Johnson - who is Vice President for Sharp Hospice Care in San Diego - for a conversation about end of life care, difficult conversations with people we love, showing up when it hurts the most, and the the moments of pause that suggest it's time for a break. If you don't have your living will and end of life paperwork completed, GET THAT SHIT DONE! Stop fucking around. We all die. If this is too tough to think about, there are some great tools to help you. If you'd like to check out 5 wishes (which we discuss in brief as a tool to help facilitate tough conversations), you'll find it here: https://fivewishes.org/docs/default-source/default-document-library/product-samples/fwsample.pdf?sfvrsn=2
Join me and my buddy Grace Chao as we explore heartbreak, the anxiety that comes with trying to get pregnant (and not being able to do so "right away"), and the possibility that sadness can be a welcome friend at the house party of all human emotions.
Join me as I explore a common CBT lesson on cognitive distortions. These little puppies, courtesy of Aaron Beck (aka "Tha Godfather of CBT"), David Burns (read his "Feeling Good" for a good time!) and this great and totally worth-a-read article from Positive Psychology Program (https://positivepsychologyprogram.com/cognitive-distortions/, plague each of our lives, but if we have anxiety or depression, they crop up a bit more. Helpful? Not so fucking much. Thanks brain. Got it.
Today, we celebrate our very first I am guest, Case Lovell; a colleague and aspiring AND inspiring friend at Seattle Anxiety Specialists. Case and I explore boundaries of being therapists, tinker around in our own shit, and dive deep into what it might mean - clinically speaking - to "give zero fucks."
This final part of episode one covers the last year of my life - the craziest, most profoundly heartbreaking and heart-filling year of my life. Beginning with our baby shower, followed immediately by the news that my father Gene Paul Ketcham has stage four liver cancer (and 2-6 weeks to live), then the birth of our daughter Elsie Gene Ketcham (aka pumpkin) - all before March! - and all the love and grief and joy and sadness that followed.
Join me for a bonus podcast - If you haven't heard of the jury duty scam, well, you're in for a treat. This podcast is an effort to step out of the shame shower and shine some light on a scam that happened two nights ago.
