This mix starts with a tech-house feel and progresses into a really rapid driving mix. It was inspired by Ritchie Hawtin's amazing set at DEMF this year. The last song on the mix is a favorite of mine that I have been holding on to for the right moment. It's called "waschmachine". I will have another post in a few days, stay tuned and thanks for listening. For tracklist hit me up @ www.myspace.com/djjagdetroit Thanks, JAG
No fancy name this time folks, this one is exactly what it says. Since the last podcast we are now on ITUNES, search for "Live From Detroit: Dirty House and Techno Sessions". This is not really a representation of what I do but where would we be if we did not follow our artistic mind and take a chance once in a while. I would like to apologize in advance to those who expected to hear that hard Detroit shit.....THIS IS NOT IT. The bass lines in this one are few and far between but driving when they hit. There are elements of Tech in this and even some minimal house 4-4 beats but I was really going to go for those mids that just pop when they hit but still keep the presence of an overall relaxed feeling that minimal brings. If you enjoy a really nice gradual subtle mix with few buildups and almost no dips you will like this. This is a really chill minimal set I did a while ago and finally got the guts to post it. This mix was made with four decks and the goal was to incorporate smacking bass lines with a more true instrumental variety in a marriage of synthesizer and orchestra. I hope you enjoy the mix and as always I appreciate your comments, good or bad, and I look foreword to sharing more of my work with you in about a week. Don't forget to drop me a line @ www.myspace.com/djjagdetroit , I love to hear from people who share my tastes and even those who don't. Until Next Podcast, JAG
This is a unique blend of house/tech-house/electro-house. It captures my style of blending main stream house beats with a darker detroit street feel. Notice the use of dips and rises used in more mainstream house tracks blended with long deep base lines common in most tech-house. I hope you enjoy and please leave any comments or suggestions @ www.myspace.com/djjagdetroit . Until the next podcast, JAG
House/Tech-House/Electro House in true JAG style come together to make one hell of a head banger!!!! The name comes from a felix da housecat song and a word that is also refferenced in one of the songs. I mixed this live in one cut with no editing. I believe this is one of my more popular mixes which will be a favorite for the more main stream listener who still enjoys a little edge and driving bass in their electronic music. I really enjoyed appealing to my european roots while still bringing that edgy Detroit sound. Pay particular attention to the last 1/4 of the mix there are changing bass lines quick mixes and I even bust out a bad boy bill scratch or two :). I hope you enjoy!!!! Until Next Podcast, JAG
This is a tech house/ techno/ minimal mix i spun live and purley based on mood. I really like the darker elements of techno and minimal which work together with the straight 4-4 beats of tech house. While the title suggests straight techno, I really can't corner this mix into one genre as it explores a full range of genres and elements specific to each. Ethnocentric literally means to believe that ones way is superior to all others. I felt this was fitting because my goal is to break the barriers put up by "genre snobs" (sorry if I offended anyone) and fill ears with tight crossover mixes incorporating the best of all elements.
