I remember the feeling of coming first in the athletics carnival. Felt like I was unbeatable, forever. That was the only time I ever came first. Don't you just appreciate hearing what people do with what they've had to live with? In this episode, I get to have a conversation with a guy I just met (and soon became friends) who is thriving despite his earlier experiences.This is one of those stories where they used their “set backs as a set up” for what their life is filled with now. Also I love that I got to do this episode with someone outside my circle. This episode with my friend Keith is quite eye-opening as to how different life experience really can be for others. When it seems like everyone has a similar story to you, stories like his is quite sobering.I truly wish that no one experiences what Keith has had to go through but that's humanity — it can just be dark, ugly and horrific and it has no favourites. Losing a loved one is so interesting because it is the most jarring idea that we're not here forever. We all have an expiry date. We all have to take a swing and “kick the bucket”.Someone once said that death is what makes life precious. It's the thing that adds value to living, that gives our time on this lonely planet some meaning, as we continue to travel around the sun.While it sounds like some heavy stuff, this episode ends in warm sunshine.
