Restoring Your Life After Coming Off Psychiatric MedicationsWho Am I and How Do I Move Forward?Coming off psychiatric medications can feel like the end of a long and difficult journey. But for many people, it is also the beginning of a new one.In this episode, Emily and I talk about what happens after medication withdrawal — when the body has healed, and the symptoms are gone, but the emotional, social, and practical challenges still remain. We discuss the process of rebuilding confidence, identity, relationships, habits, and daily life after years of psychiatric treatment.Emily shares her personal experience of feeling free after withdrawal, only to realize that there were still deeper layers to heal, including fear, loneliness, self-doubt, and the need to start over in many areas of life.We also explore:The emotional aftermath of psychiatric treatmentWhy people may feel anxious even after a successful withdrawalHow medication, symptoms, and the psychiatric system can affect identityThe challenge of rebuilding friendships, work, and purposeWhy self-care habits can slip after recoveryHow supplements, energy medicine, rest, and diet can support long-term healingThe importance of patience, compassion, and taking one small step at a timeThis conversation is not only about coming off medications. It is about learning how to rebuild one's life after healing from a chronic medical condition. It is about recognizing what you have survived, giving yourself grace, and moving forward with a life that feels whole, authentic, and free.Enjoy! Please come back for more episodes of The Holistic Psychiatrist! I named my anxiety Lucy…and it helped me realize that I am not my anxiety. After all these years together (she's been living rent free), I figured it was time she got a proper introduction. For a long time, Lucy and I weren't exactly friends. I used to let her control every part of my life (she's a diva like that). She convinced me that every worst case scenario was reality and that worrying was somehow keeping everyone safe. But somewhere along the way, I realized she wasn't trying to ruin my life. In her own chaotic, dramatic way, she was trying to protect me and the people I love. She just had a terrible way of showing it.So we've made some changes.I'm the driver now. Lucy is the passenger princess…and honestly, that's best for everyone. And while my anxiety's name is Lucy, you probably have your own version of Lucy too. Maybe yours has a different name, a different personality, or shows up in different ways, but if you've ever felt like your anxiety was running the show, this episode is for you.Because Lucy is a part of me. She always will be.And maybe learning to live with her, and not against her has been the most healing part of all.SocialsOTBS Instagram @onthebrightsidepoddOTBS TikTok: @onthebrightsidepodcastCaroline's Instagram: @carolinesuskoCaroline's Tiktok: @carolinesuskoSocial media inquiries: carolinesusko20@gmail.comPodcast Inquiries: onthebrightsidepod20@gmail.comMore about me (Amazon Storefront, LTK, Podcast Course etc): HEREWANT TO SEE A GUEST GET ON THE MIC? Send us Fan MailThis is the dramatic conclusion to our Elijah and Elisha series! Pastor Eric walks through Elisha's final moments and how we might have strength in weakness. Support the showThe Village Church's sermon podcast is more than just a weekly message. It is an invitation into the great and ongoing story of God's work in the world. Pastors Eric, Mark, Susan, Daniel, and other leaders open the Scriptures not as a collection of abstract ideas but as the living, breathing witness to God's kingdom breaking into our midst. Each episode is a call—not merely to listen, but to take part, to step forward into the life of faith with renewed vision and purpose.Week by week, the pastors and leaders explore the deep rhythms of Christian discipleship—prayer, fasting, generosity—not as isolated duties but as part of a larger, richer, and more beautiful whole. They unpack these ancient practices in light of Jesus himself, the one in whom heaven and earth have come together. But they also turn their attention to the realities of everyday life—relationships, finances, the struggles and joys of being human—demonstrating how the gospel is not merely about what we believe but about how we live as God's renewed people in the present age.The Village Churchvillagersonline@gmail.comMore information at www.villagersonline.com

A founder asks:"I want to focus on the future, but I don't trust the present to happen."It's a question that sits at the heart of scaling. As companies grow, founders are asked to spend less time executing and more time leading. But letting go isn't simply a mindset challenge—it often exposes deeper questions about trust, team capability, clarity, and leadership evolution.James Johnson and Freddie Birley unpack why founders become bottlenecks, how leadership must change between startup and scale-up, and why the answer is rarely "it's me" or "it's the team."More often, it's both.A conversation about vision, delegation, trust, and building a company that can grow beyond the founder.Send your questions to: hello@peer-effect.comMore from James:Connect with James on LinkedIn or at peer-effect.com

Discussing Conventional and Holistic Treatment FailuresFailure is something we rarely talk about openly in mental health treatment. But what happens when medications don't work the way people hoped? What happens when holistic approaches don't create immediate breakthroughs either? And what can both patients and practitioners learn from those experiences? In this episode, Emily and I have a deeply honest conversation about conventional and holistic treatment failures — and why these experiences, while painful, often become the beginning of deeper understanding and growth. We discuss:The real-world success rates of antidepressants and antipsychoticsWhy medication withdrawal can become increasingly complex over timeThe emotional toll of treatment resistance and failed approachesHow hope, persistence, and curiosity shape recovery outcomesThe difference between symptom reduction and true healingAnd why listening deeply to patients matters more than everThis conversation isn't about attacking conventional psychiatry or promising easy answers. It's about honesty.Learning.And recognizing that healing is often far more nuanced than we've been taught.Enjoy! When it comes to having a village, everyone wants one. We want the thoughtful birthday celebrations, the check in texts, and all the little loving gestures that make you feel seen. But no one really talks about what it actually takes to have that kind of village in the first place.Because the truth is, you do have to be a villager to have a village. You have to show up. You have to remember the birthdays, send the check in text, and be present. But somewhere along the way, that gets twisted into thinking you have to hold up the entire village…and that's the part that people lose themselves in.This episode is about that line between showing up for people and overextending yourself in the name of people pleasing, feeling guilty or wanting to be the glue. It's about what it means to be a villager, without losing yourself in the process. Because a village is made up of dozens of people, and it's not up to just one person to keep it thriving.SocialsOTBS Instagram @onthebrightsidepoddOTBS TikTok: @onthebrightsidepodcastCaroline's Instagram: @carolinesuskoCaroline's Tiktok: @carolinesuskoSocial media inquiries: carolinesusko20@gmail.comPodcast Inquiries: onthebrightsidepod20@gmail.comMore about me (Amazon Storefront, LTK, Podcast Course etc): HEREWANT TO SEE A GUEST GET ON THE MIC? Thinking about moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan? Before you load up the moving truck, there are a few things nobody tells you until it's too late. Ross Bacon with May Group Realtors at RE/MAX of Grand Rapids shares the honest picture of what life in Grand Rapids is actually like — and what to expect before you make the move.⏱️ VIDEO CHAPTERSIntroduction (0:00)Michigan Is a Title State (0:22)Grand Rapids Traffic (1:27)Getting In and Out — GRR Airport (3:01)Rethinking Your Commute Math (4:33)Closing Thoughts (6:34)What No One Tells You About Moving to Grand RapidsMoving to Grand Rapids is one of the best decisions you can make — but there are a few things that trip up almost every newcomer, and knowing them ahead of time makes all the difference.Michigan Is a Title StateIf you're relocating from an attorney state like Georgia, New York, Massachusetts, or South Carolina, you're used to having a lawyer at the closing table. Michigan works differently. Here, a licensed title company handles your closing — no attorney required. The process is smooth and efficient, but it will feel different than what you're used to. Lean on your real estate agent and get comfortable with your title company early.Grand Rapids Traffic Is Not What You ThinkComing from Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, or any major metro? You're about to experience something genuinely surprising. Grand Rapids runs on a sensible grid system, highway access actually works, and the entire metro area is compact enough to cross in 20 to 25 minutes on a normal day. Locals will warn you about the 28th Street corridor on a Saturday. They mean well.Rethink Your Commute MathThis is the one that catches almost every out-of-towner off guard during the home search. In a big metro, 30 to 40 minutes from work lands you in a nice suburb. In Grand Rapids, 30 to 45 minutes from downtown could put you in a completely different county. Think in miles, not minutes. A 10- to 20-minute commute here still gives you access to a huge portion of the metro — and that range can get you a four-bedroom home with a backyard on a quiet street, something that simply does not exist at that price point in most American cities.Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR)GRR is Michigan's second busiest airport, handling more than four million passengers a year with nonstop service to over 30 destinations. It is also in the middle of a major transformation — Project Elevate, a $500 million+ investment that includes a newly expanded Concourse A and a $135 million terminal enhancement project. GRR is the first small-hub airport in the United States to implement a consolidated baggage inspection system. You are not driving to Detroit to catch a flight.Grand Rapids is growing fast. And now you get to grow with it.

Are We Watching Justice or Turning Violence into Entertainment? The Luigi Mangione case has become more than a courtroom story. It has become a national flashpoint overdue process, media hype, political violence, online mobs, and whether America still understands the difference between justice and entertainment. Is Justice Still Blind or Has the Crowd Taken Over the Courtroom? In this episode of Go Right with Peter Boykin, the Constitutionalist for Liberty, we break down the legal questions surrounding the Mangione case, including the judge's ruling on evidence, the importance of constitutional protections, and why due process must apply even when the accusation is serious. We also look at the disturbing rise of online fan culture around accused killers, the way media spectacle can distort public judgment, and why victims must never be erased by political narratives or internet fame. This is not just a courtroom story. This affects the rule of law, the First Amendment, the Sixth Amendment, public safety, religious liberty, civic order, North Carolina communities, and the future of our Constitutional Republic.Should America defend due process while also rejecting the glorification of violence?Watch, listen, share, and join the conversation.Read the full article:https://gorightnews.com/are-we-watching-justice-or-turning-violence-into-entertainment/Watch on Rumble:https://rumble.com/v7a34ye-are-we-watching-justice-or-turning-violence-into-entertainment.htmlWatch on YouTube:https://youtu.be/WCAjK0Bh6oIWatch on BitChute:https://www.bitchute.com/video/vYG44gDc398Z/Listen on Spreaker:https://www.spreaker.com/episode/are-we-watching-justice-or-turning-violence-into-entertainment--72072396Visit Go Right News:https://GoRightNews.comMore from Peter Boykin:https://PeterBoykin.comMusic and patriotic tracks:https://GoRightMusic.comSupport independent constitutional commentary:Cash App: $GoRightNews#GoRight, #GoRightNews, #PeterBoykin, #LuigiMangione, #JusticeSystem, #DueProcess, #FirstAmendment, #SixthAmendment, #RuleOfLaw, #PoliticalViolence, #MediaSpectacle, #CourtroomDrama, #StopPoliticalViolence, #ConstitutionalistForLiberty, #ConstitutionalRepublic, #AmericaFirst, #FreeSpeech, #LawAndOrder, #ReligiousLiberty, #IndependentMedia, #JusticeIsNotEntertainment, #Rumble, #YouTube, #Podcast, #PoliticalCommentaryBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/go-right-with-peter-boykin-the-constitutionalist-for-liberty--3096608/support.

Join in this journey through three stories of Elisha and consider what it looks like for the church today to practice the prophetic.Support the showThe Village Church's sermon podcast is more than just a weekly message. Mental health struggles are often far more complex — and far more treatable — than many people realize. For decades, we've been told that mental illness is simply a "chemical imbalance" — something to be managed primarily through medication. But what if that understanding is incomplete? In this episode, Dr. Lee and Emily explore The Myth of Mental Illness and unpack some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding psychiatric diagnoses, medications, and healing. Drawing from both clinical and lived-in experience, we discuss why symptom relief doesn't always mean the underlying issue has been resolved — and why so many people feel stuck, dependent, or misunderstood after years on medication.Listen to the full podcast for information on the following areas:How psychiatric medications work and how symptom-directed treatment isn't the ideal way to truly heal mental illness. How do metabolic causes create mental illness? The serotonin system's role in the GI system. The difference between a diagnosis and its underlying causes. How do psychiatric medications really work?Vignettes of patients who healed depression and psychosis quickly with nutritional support without needing neurotransmitter support.A new holistic paradigm for treating bipolar disorder that really works. How medication side effects and withdrawal can mimic mental illness. Dr. Lee's initial personal experience that allowed her to empathize with her patients' perspectives and to shift from a conventional to a holistic approach.Specific safe supplements that enhance general biological function and how to order them. Most importantly, this conversation is about removing stigma and shame. Struggling with depression, anxiety, withdrawal, or emotional overwhelm does not mean you are weak or broken. Sometimes, the body is asking for deeper support, not just symptom suppression. Grand Rapids gets all the attention, but the best places to live in West Michigan might actually be just outside of it. In this video, Josh May with RE/MAX of Grand Rapids breaks down 4 hidden gem communities within 45 minutes of Grand Rapids that more people should be talking about.*VIDEO CHAPTERS*Introduction (0:00) Rockford, Michigan (1:06) Saugatuck, Michigan (2:22) Greenville, Michigan (3:21) Ada, Michigan (4:24) Big Takeaway (5:25)*Michigan's Hidden Gems: Cool Cities Beyond Grand Rapids*When people start researching a move to West Michigan, Grand Rapids is almost always the starting point. It makes sense. It is the second-largest city in Michigan and has a lot going for it. But what a lot of people discover after digging a little deeper is that some of the most desirable places to live in the entire region are the smaller communities just outside of it.In this video, we highlight four communities that consistently surprise people with how much they offer.*Rockford, Michigan* sits about 15 to 20 minutes north of Grand Rapids and has one of the most authentic small-town feels in all of West Michigan. The entire downtown is built around the Rogue River, making it walkable, connected, and genuinely enjoyable to spend time in. Local restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and the Riverwalk trail system make Rockford the kind of place where people actually live in their community. It also has strong schools and a good mix of home styles and price points.*Saugatuck, Michigan* is a completely different experience, and that is exactly the point. Located about 40 minutes west along the Lake Michigan shoreline, Saugatuck is defined by its coastal feel, vibrant art scene, and the kind of lifestyle that makes it feel like a permanent vacation. Oval Beach is one of the best beaches in the state, and the downtown is filled with galleries, shops, and waterfront character. For buyers who put lifestyle above everything else, Saugatuck is worth serious consideration.*Greenville, Michigan* is about 30 minutes northeast of Grand Rapids and has become a go-to for buyers who want more home for their money. Larger lots, more square footage, and lower price points make Greenville attractive to people who are feeling priced out of closer-in communities. Beyond the value story, Greenville has a growing downtown, riverfront parks along the Flat River, and a strong local community that keeps people rooted there long-term.*Ada, Michigan* has transformed significantly over the past several years into one of the most sought-after areas in West Michigan. The village has been redeveloped with intention, featuring a walkable downtown anchored by the Ada Hotel, alongside luxury homes, private wooded settings, and gathering spaces that feel high-end without being cold. Ada sits just minutes from Grand Rapids, making it the ideal option for someone who wants privacy, upscale living, and easy access to the city all at once.Whether you are drawn to Rockford's river town walkability, Saugatuck's lakefront lifestyle, Greenville's space and affordability, or Ada's luxury and community, there is a version of West Michigan built for how you want to live. You do not have to be in Grand Rapids to have an incredible life here.

Send us Fan MailIn this Village Church sermon podcast, Pastor Eric looks at Elijah being taken up into heaven by the chariots of fire. He focuses on Elisha, his calling, and the way the prophets in the surrounding towns tried to distract him from following Elijah to the end. Pastor Eric also explores Elisha's request for a double portion, what that request means, and how the role of prophet takes shape in Scripture. The sermon then invites listeners to consider their own New Testament prophetic calling as people who speak God's truth, remember God's story, and faithfully follow Jesus in the places where he has called them.Support the showThe Village Church's sermon podcast is more than just a weekly message. There's a moment in this conversation where something quietly shifts…Not because of a bold claim — but because of a different way of seeing. In this episode, I'm joined by Dr Elisa Medhus, a physician with over 30 years in internal medicine, who now works in the field of scalar energy healing. Alongside Emily, we explore how thoughts, intention, and energy may influence the body in ways we're only just beginning to understand. This is not about replacing medicine. It's about expanding the conversation. We talk about:What scalar energy is (in simple terms)How intention, visualisation, and emotion may influence healingThe connection between thoughts, self-perception, and physical outcomesWhy love, gratitude, and self-worth keep showing up in healing journeysAnd the idea that healing may involve more than just the physical bodyWhat stood out most wasn't the technology…It was the reminder that how we think and feel about ourselves may matter more than we realize. If you're open to exploring a different lens on healing, this is a conversation worth sitting with.Support the showTo sustain my work as a holistic psychiatrist and support my efforts to improve psychiatric treatment for all through my podcasts, articles, website, and YouTube channel, please show your appreciation and help champion holistic psychiatry by clicking HERE to contribute!Click here to listen to all of The Holistic Psychiatrist Podcast episodesContact here to email Dr. Lee directly. The punks, despite all the best efforts of society and time, are still kicking around, and we love that for them/us. This week on the pod, J. Hunter Bennett, author of "More Punk than the Public Library," joins Joe and Elly to talk about middle-aged punk life, starting a little free punk rock library during the pandemic outside his house on a well-trafficked corner of Chevy Chase, D.C., and more.Get J. Send us Fan MailPastor Mark explores Elijah's calling of Elisha, including the awkwardness of throwing a cloak at someone and the finality of the burning of the plow.Support the showThe Village Church's sermon podcast is more than just a weekly message.
No one is coming to tell you when it's time to take the next step. No one is going to tell you that you have to do it scared. It's you and your life. And the difference between living a mundane one and an extraordinary one… is what you choose to do with that fear. There's no handbook for doing things scared. No moment where it suddenly makes perfect sense. No signal telling you your body is ready. So you do it anyway. You do it scared. Because you are one decision, one risk, one month away from a dream life. And it could be this moment, the one you're hesitating in right now, that changes everything for the better. And if it was, I know you would do it. So do it scared.SocialsOTBS Instagram @onthebrightsidepoddOTBS TikTok: @onthebrightsidepodcastCaroline's Instagram: @carolinesuskoCaroline's Tiktok: @carolinesuskoSocial media inquiries: carolinesusko20@gmail.comPodcast Inquiries: onthebrightsidepod20@gmail.comMore about me (Amazon Storefront, LTK, Podcast Course etc): HEREWANT TO SEE A GUEST GET ON THE MIC?
