Many of you guys have heard of the 1998 Disney adaption of Mulan, but did you know where the inspiration for the story came from? Today, I will be talking about the original Ballad of Mulan from the 4th to 6th century China and how the Disney movie compares. We will be looking at the different versions and the significance behind the differences in each version.
On April 17, Minitrista is hosting a glass workshop where people can create their own sculpted flowers. The cost was $55 per person and is currently sold out. The event is held in Marilyn K. Glick Center for glass at Ball state. The workshop is open to beginners and intermediate-level glass workers with all of the supplies provided. With St. Patrick's Day coming up next Wednesday on March 17, the Community Foundation and Downtown Development is inviting people to celebrate through their Pot O' Gold Puzzler event. Five individuals who complete all of the puzzles will win a pot of gold in the form of 100 one-dollar coins. In order to play, one needs a playing card that can be found on the Pot O' Gold website or picked up at a participating location. In order to play, you just need to shop, eat and drink in downtown Muncie until you've collected all nine puzzle pieces. Once you've received your 9 puzzle pieces, just mail your completed puzzle to Downtown Development, drop it off at their place of business or email it. More information can be found on Down Town Muncie's website. The event began on February 15 but will end next Wednesday on St Patrick Day. In the era of COVID, with people spending more time at home, communities have begun to see the rise in animal adoptions. Today for the show, we're very excited to welcome our special guest Nicki Curby, who is the shelter manager of Muncie Animal Rescue Fund (Muncie ARF).
With COVID, one thing that has been hit hard in theaters. This is both movie theaters and live theaters. Muncie Civic Theatre though has announced that they will have their spring youth shows performing in May. Currently, registration for kids between the grades of kindergarten to 12th grade is open and auditions are soon. The Theatre will be putting on 101 Dalmations, James and the Giant Peach, and High School Musical. With tomorrow being groundhogs day, Muncie Outreach has organized “The Great Scavenger Hunt 202”. The scavenger hunt is a week-long and it starting Tomorrow with registrations closing today! Participants will work in teams of 2-6 to hunt for the items off of a provided list in order to collect points. In order to win, your team must have the most points by the end of the week.
