In this episode, I'm joined by Nicole Kalil for a powerful and practical conversation about confidence. Nicole has spent years studying, researching, and teaching confidence, and she breaks it down in such a grounded way. Instead of seeing confidence as something we fake, perform, or get from the outside world, Nicole defines confidence as firm and bold trust in self. We talk about how confidence is something many of us are born with, but begin to lose as we absorb expectations, criticism, people-pleasing, perfectionism, comparison, and what Nicole calls "head trash." She shares the five confidence builders that help us rebuild trust with ourselves, including taking action, moving through fear and failure, giving ourselves grace, choosing confidence, and building internal trust one step at a time. This conversation is such a beautiful reminder that confidence is not about looking perfect or never feeling afraid. The doorbell camera captured a masked, armed figure at the front door. The FBI recovered the footage. Blood confirmed as Nancy's was on the porch. A pacemaker signal went silent at 2:28 a.m. Her phone, wallet, and daily medication were left inside the house. Discarded gloves were found two miles away. Drones went up. Dogs went out. More than a hundred investigators eventually worked the case. The reward climbed to $1 million. And after all of that — no arrest. No publicly identified suspect. Nancy Guthrie is still missing.Jennifer Coffindaffer spent a career at the FBI reading scenes most people never have to picture. She walks through the forty-one-minute window that defines this case — doorbell camera disconnect at 1:47 a.m., a person detected at 2:12, pacemaker signal lost at 2:28 — and explains what those timestamps reveal when you line them up the way an investigator does. She examines what it means when a case opens this clean, with this much physical and digital evidence, and still produces nothing the public can see moving forward.The masked figure is specific. Ski mask. Gloves. A jacket. A holstered handgun. A 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack — the FBI says it's sold exclusively at Walmart. He discovered the camera in real time and covered the lens with weeds pulled from Nancy's own yard. That footage was released on February 10. The man has not been publicly identified.The investigation's trajectory has been marked by inter-agency friction and credibility questions. The FBI Director publicly stated the bureau was denied access for four days. The Pima County sheriff disputed that account. The sheriff's resume scandal and a recall campaign have further complicated public confidence. The canvass contamination questions remain unresolved.Nancy Guthrie was 84 years old. She depends on daily medication. Every passing hour without that medication is a countdown. Joe Kalish, chief global macro strategist at Ned Davis Research, says 2026 has had surprising narratives but unsurprisingly solid results, and he expects that to continue, without significant recession risk or big trouble ahead. Kalish discusses often overlooked economic numbers, like a financing gap where demands to fund capital expenditures outstrip available capital and the level of real gross value added for non-financial corporations (essentially, GDP for things other than financial companies), to explain how and why this economy looks healthier than the worrywarts think it is. He does outline his concerns, but thinks the economy can overpower most or all of them in fairly short order. David Trainer, founder and president at New Constructs, says that the new wave of huge initial public offerings like SpaceX and Anthropic puts index-fund investors in The Danger Zone, noting that indexes are considering changing rules to quickly accommodate the new stocks, which creates artificial demand that will further drive the prices of the stocks up. That creates potential for index investors to effectively be overpaying to get into the IPOs, and also leaves them vulnerable if the stocks fall off after the initial excitement. While the rules changes are up in the air, Trainer says the pressure to change rules and include fresh IPOs changes the landscape for the future. In "The Week That Is," Vijay Marolia, chief investment officer at Regal Point Capital, discusses the market's message to Broadcom, which exceeded earnings expectations but failed to raise future guidance on AI-driven revenues; he says the market is punishing "sandbagging," a practice of understating expectations so that they are easy to beat, but he says the big price drop created a buying opportunity for investors. He also discussed the heightened volatility around the positive jobs report, which he says is based on the fear of a hike in interest rates that he says long-term investors should not be too worried about. Plus, he examines Bitcoin, which has lost about one-quarter of its value in less than two months, which he says is testing traders faith, but which isn't making him nervous as a long-term buy-and-holder.

It felt like we were short track racing on a street course this past weekend in Detroit. Conor Daly returns to Speed Street this week to join Producer Bobby in recapping the recent IndyCar Detroit Grand Prix.
