Sermon | Where do you find the love to offer he who betrays you? | Easter B7 | Acts 1:15-17&21-26; 1 John 5:9-13;John 17:6-19
The end is not near it's here. We enter the last sermon for our Hosea series and our last sermon for the Prophet and the Prostitute: Or how I came to love the American church again.
Hey y'all, we are 2 weeks away from the end of the Hosea study and I make a plea to the American Church.
Hey y'all, we return to Hosea with chapters 9 and 10. I keep combining chapters because honestly, this disstrack needs to end soon. I talk about Christian and politics in this one, so if I offend you, I apologize (I apologize that you are offended but not about what I say).
Easter Homily for 2021 -- Scripture: Mark 16: 1-8, John 20:1-18, and 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 -- Poem Maya Angelou - Still I rise (Copyright 1978).
Good Friday homily for April 2nd 2021. This is a short homily I wrote for NCKC back in 2019. The refrain that is used for the ALL part of the homily: All Holy God, holy and strong, holy and immortal, have mercy upon us.
Scripture is Hosea 7 and 8. We continue our journey through the Lord's diss track against Israel through the Lord's prophet MC Hosea. I promise that we will get to more hopeful message soon.
We are back for week 4! We talk through Hosea 5 and 6. The sermon title is from one of my favorite Christian screamo bands, Emery, and really has nothing to do with the sermon but I got tired of using Derek Webb song lyrics. Also, I address the Mass Murder in Atlanta, so prepare for a heavy sermon.
We are back for week 3 of Hosea chapter 4 (I know a bit confusing). This marks a change in the book away from the narrative of Homer (remember the celebrity name I gave Hosea and Gomer) and into the sermons against Israel by the prophet Hosea.
This week, we have the second sermon in our new series. We will be going through Hosea 2-3 and chatting through how we deal with our own desires versus the desire that God has given us.
Hello everyone! NCKC is starting up it's new series The Prophet and the Prostitute (or how I came to love the American church again) starting with Hosea 1! I also make a reference to Derek Webb's album She Shall and Must Go Free and specifically to the song Wedding Dress by Derek Webb. Feel free to check them out and hopefully you enjoy the direction of the new series.
Hey y'all, We are back! We are about to start a new series on Hosea but I thought I would record the Ash Wednesday Homily from last night. The Scripture that was used: Joel 2:1-2, 12-17; Isaiah 58:1-12; Psalm 51:1-17; 2 Corinthians 5:20b-6:10; Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21.
Sermon | Rules for Thee and not for Me | Proper A26 | Matthew 23:1-12, 1 Thessalonians 2:9-20, Micah 3:5-12. I definitely make way too many references to LOTR and Jim Henson's the Labyrinth. Sorry, not sorry.

We are almost there. We are at Mark 15, the last chapter before the end and today, we talk about Crucifixion and the importance of Christ sacrifice. Be blessed this week.
We are getting so close to the end of our Human Bible study, ending 14:43-72 in this sermon. Yes, I took my sermon title from a Run the Jewels song. Also, yes, I do break down in this sermon. It's a long one, so there is no Scripture lead in but please, listen. It's an important one. *Correction* in the sermon I mention that Elijah McCain was killed in Aurora but I reference that it's outside of Chicago, I was wrong, it was Aurora Colorado. I apologize for the mess up.
We continue on our Human Bible Study with Mark 14:1-42. I was a bit late getting this one out but it's a good one. We are nearing the end and Christ has his last meal and well, we finally talk a lot about sin and more important, our forgiveness from that sin.
We find ourselves in Mark 13 for the Human Bible Study where we run into another divine appointment. It seems that the Lord has gone before us and planned that we would dealing with systems and the tearing down of those systems, well just about the time those things are happening in the United States. Also, we have talk about end times. So you know, very relevant things.
We are in Mark 12 this week for our Human Bible Study. I go off script a lot because of what is happening in our nation right now and wanting to address it. No scripture lead in either because once again, I go long. Be blessed this week.
We continue our Human Bible Study with Mark 11, where we have another Markan sandwich, this time fig flavored. No scripture lead, since it got a bit long!
We continue our Human Bible Study through Mark this week finding ourselves in Mark 10:17-52, where we get to talk about wealth, power, and authority.
We continue our Human Bible Study with a guest preacher! We get to hear from Rev. Michael Wiltshire this week as he preaches on Mark 9:30-10:16. Also, he had nothing to do with the sermon title. I totally made that up for him. Also, he read the scripture as well. Needless to say, I had nothing to do with this sermon...well beyond giving it an awesome name.
We continue our Human Bible Study in Mark 8:22-9:1. We get to hear about another healing that sheds light on the following Scriptures about seeing the world partially and what it takes to see the world clearly. Also, you get to hear me talk about Fight Club. Scripture reading this week was Jax Duncan.
We continue on with Mark 7:31-8:21. This week we go into another healing that sets up an understanding of the following stories. Also, more about bread. Jesus really like carbs it seems. Also, the disciples, well, they continue being the disciples. This week scripture reader, was, well, me.
A short Easter message this morning going off of Mark 16:1-8 and Luke 24:1-12.
We continue on our Human Bible Study with Mark 6:30-7:30. We talk a lot about bread this week. Also I apologize for singing. Scripture this week was read by Rev. Michael Wiltshire.
We continue our Human Bible Studies in Mark 6:1-29. Let us hear about our call into Evangelism, why we are sometimes not accepted by the people we bring the Gospel to and well, a game-of-thrones-esk part of the Gospel. This week's reader was Candace Coppinger Pickett.
We continue on in our human Bible Study with Mark 5:21-43! We run into our first literary device called a Markan sandwich, also known as a tale of two healings! This weeks scripture is read by Ben Breslow.
We continue on in our Mark Human Bible Study into Mark 4:35-5:20 where Jesus continues his boat ministry in a midst a storm and a run into demon representing systematic evil and oppression. Sounds fun right? Today's Scripture reader is Jax Duncan.
We continue on in our Mark Human Bible Study this week with Mark 4:1-34! We talk about Jesus speaking parables and what does it mean for the church. We are also starting something new, where I am having listeners read the Scriptures before the sermon, so if you're interested in reading the Scriptures, let me know! This week Scripture reader is Karly Breslow.
We are onto week 4 of our Mark Human Bible Study where we get to deal with one of the most famous statements in Scripture "A house divided cannot stand" and also one of the most anxious ideas in Scripture the "unforgivable sin." The Scripture for this sermon is Mark 3:8-44.
We continue on our third week of the Mark Human Bible Study for Northtown Church of Kansas City. This time we dive into Mark 2:13-3:7, talking through how Jesus challenges our notions on social decorum, our understanding of law, and well, how we live out the law.
The second episode in our Mark Human Bible Study. Listen as we talk about the many ways Christ heals and how we are called to live out our healing.
