Louis Henry Mitchell is so much more than the Creative Director of Character Design for Sesame Workshop... he is a living, breathing example of finding your calling and creating your own destiny. Louis didn't step right into his dream job, he made small steps in the direction of his passion until one day he found himself there. How did he get to Sesame Street? The spark that started his creative journey began when he was just six years old, and saw Jim Henson on the Ed Sullivan Show. It was in that moment he realized that a person was behind creating his favorite characters, and if they could do it, why couldn't he? Today, Louis directs and oversees all aspects of character art for Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization behind Sesame Street. He's designed Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons and floats, directed Sesame Street Muppet photo shoots, and created iconic characters we've come to love. In this interview we discuss his amazing career and his debut book, QREATIVE EVOLUTION: How to Question Everything to Find Your Creative Fulfillment. (Out Now!) Hey Poison Friends!! I hope we are all staying well so far this (almost) Fall season. I know, the Autumnal Equinox won't be here until next month, but I am excited for Fall and spooky season and cooler weather. The one thing I do not like this time of year is the amount of viral and bacterial infections that seem to wage war on us all. One such bacterial agent is Streptococcus pyogenes or what you may hear called Group A Strep. This is the nasty that causes impetigo and strep throat (streptococcus pharyngitis) which can then lead to scarlet fever and rheumatic fever which can also lead to numerous complications like rheumatic heart disease and long term kidney dysfunction. All of that from strep throat or impetigo?? Yes, but fortunately we do not see these other complications as often thanks to antibiotics and preventative measures such as hand hygiene, isolation when contagious, and sanitation measures. It is still prevalent enough to cause a few thousand deaths here in America every year, however, and many more in countries who do not have good access to medical care and antibiotics. We are also discussing Invasive Group A Strep, because a strep infection can also lead to sepsis involving necrotizing fasciitis and toxic shock syndrome. Both of these complications are life threatening. We need to cover the demise of one of my all time favorite creators in this episode as well, Jim Henson. He died of TSS resulting from an untreated strep infection and, as sad as this was, his story needs to be told so that others don't. I won't spoil this episode any further, but I want to include the last message he had written to be given to his five children after his death.“First of all, don't feel bad that I'm gone. While I will miss spending time with each of you, I'm sure it will be an interesting time for me and I look forward to seeing all of you when you come over. To each of you I send my love. If on this side of life I'm able to watch over and help you out, know that I will. If I can't, I'm sure I can at least be waiting for you when you come over. This all may sound silly to you guys, but what the hell, I'm gone—and who can argue with me?Life is meant to be fun, and joyous, and fulfilling. May each of yours be that—having each of you as a child of mine has certainly been one of the good things in my life. Know that I've always loved each of you with an eternal, bottomless love. A love that has nothing to do with each other, for I feel my love for each of you is total and all encompassing. Please watch out for each other and love and forgive everybody. It's a good life, enjoy it.”Thank you to all of our listeners and supporters! This week, our two former puppeteers revisit the delightfully bizarre—and terribly provocative—Peter Sellers episode of The Muppet Show. Sellers arrives not as himself, but as every outrageously caricatured persona you can imagine: a fiddle-playing Romani, an overbearing German masseuse channeling Dr. Strangelove, a regal (and bearded) Queen Victoria, and a cryptic cameo as Inspector Clouseau himself. We celebrate Sellers' chameleon-like genius—but we also confront the problematic stereotypes. Many sketches now come with legitimate cultural baggage. The torqued-up massage gag, for example, walks a fine line between homage and grotesque parody. All the while, Sellers' famous existential quip—"There is no me… I had it surgically removed"—adds an unsettling and surreal layer to the slapstick.Making this episode even more a mixed bag, we find a legendary performance from Kermit that is equal parts beautiful and empowering. Join us as we unpack the comedy, the controversy, and the poetry of this episode; and why revisiting it forces us to laugh, cringe, and reflect—all at once.Join the discussion on our discord! https://discord.gg/JDtWJrhPF6Follow us on twitter @PMoNPodcast and on Instagram and Threads @puppetmastersofnoneFind out more about the puppet masters on our website: https://puppetmastersofnone.wixsite.com/puppetmastersofnoneOriginal Music Composed by Taetro. @Taetro https://www.taetro.com/Send us a text

Michael Eisner didn't start the trend of the Disney Company acquiring intellectual properties, but he did speed up the process that was then taken to Ludicrous Speed by Bob Iger. The Muppets characters were among those that Eisner spent years trying to bring into the Disney umbrella.

The journey from circus performer to respected software developer isn't a common career path, but Aji Slater navigates it with the same thoughtful precision he applies to code. As a former Ringling Brothers clown who now leads development teams at ThoughtBot, Aji brings a refreshingly unique perspective to technical challenges and community contribution.Diving into his current work with a 12-13 year old Rails codebase, Aji shares his struggles with an Angular frontend implemented in non-standard ways. Despite his graphic design background and comfort with frontend development, the architectural decisions in this Angular implementation present significant challenges. His approach to overcoming these obstacles reveals a thoughtful balance between leveraging AI tools for understanding code while preserving the creative problem-solving aspects that make development enjoyable. The conversation shifts to Aji's crowning achievement—his "Keynote of Keynotes" presentation at RailsConf that earned him the title of "RailsConf World Champion" from Aaron Patterson. This monumental project required watching 94 hours of past keynotes, tracking down information about 16 presentations that weren't recorded, and synthesizing two decades of Rails community wisdom. Through this archaeological deep-dive, Aji uncovered a powerful throughline in Rails history: the focus on shared solutions that make developers "stronger together than if we were working alone."Aji's reflections on public speaking reveal surprising insights about performance anxiety. Despite having performed for crowds of 24,000 during his circus days, he still experiences nervousness before technical presentations—though of a different quality than most speakers face. His upcoming move to Scotland adds another fascinating dimension to his story, as he discovers the limitations of UK-focused resources that often neglect Scottish cultural specifics.Whether discussing his frustrations with Keynote (the presentation software), sharing his thoughts on ADHD in technical work, or explaining why he named his dog after Jim Henson, Aji demonstrates the warmth, humor, and thoughtful perspective that have made him a beloved figure in the Ruby community. His story reminds us that the most interesting developers often bring their whole, multifaceted selves to their work.Connect with Aji on Bluesky at doodlingdev and watch for his upcoming short technical talks on YouTube!Send us some love. This week, on PMoN your favorite ex-puppeteers leap headfirst into The Frog Prince—the 1971 Muppet television special that proved true love's kiss is even weirder when the smooch involves felt.We revisit Kermit in his pre-Muppet Show side hustle, meet Robin the Frog in his debut role, and marvel at the gloriously oddball supporting cast (looking at you, witchy Taminella Grinderfall). Along the way, we hop through the special's fairy-tale roots, behind-the-scenes Henson magic, and the slightly alarming amount of medieval lute music. It's part nostalgia trip, part puppet masterclass, and entirely an excuse to say “bake the hall in the candle of her brain” into a microphone over and over again.Because while we may not have our hand in puppetry anymore… we still know our way around a lily pad.Join the discussion on our discord! https://discord.gg/JDtWJrhPF6Follow us on twitter @PMoNPodcast and on Instagram and Threads @puppetmastersofnoneFind out more about the puppet masters on our website: https://puppetmastersofnone.wixsite.com/puppetmastersofnoneOriginal Music Composed by Taetro. @Taetro https://www.taetro.com/Send us a text

All aboard the Cat Bus for a moving conversation about one of the greatest animations of all time – and the emotional madness of trying to bring that tale to the stage in London's West End. If you're in London at the moment, you need to see the current theatrical adaptation of My Neighbour Totoro currently showing in the West End. Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company with puppet designs by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, this magical re-telling of the iconic Studio Ghibli animation was written by our guest today, Tom Morton-Smith – a storyteller whose past work includes Oppenheimer (not the Christopher Nolan movie, but an acclaimed stage drama) and Ravens, a Cold War thriller set at the 1972 World Chess Championship. Taking on Totoro was an undertaking as big and daunting as the titular forest spirit himself. Set in post-war Japan, Hayao Miyazaki's story told the tale of a father and his two daughters who move to the edge of an enchanted forest, to be closer to the hospital where the girls' mother is undergoing medical care. As uncertainty gathers, strange creatures reveal themselves to little Satsuki and Mei – leading them on an adventure of wonder and awe. In the spoiler conversation you're about to hear, Tom details how he translated that wonder and awe to the stage. He's also open about his persoal experience, writing the play amid huge change in his family life. The grief and loss – or potential for loss – that sits in the background of the Totoro story is something Tom was moving through himself as he sat down to pen this adaptation. We break down the tale's themes of environmentalism and the kindness we owe to each other. We also get into the darkness of Ghibli that is often erased or reduced in how the west talks about films like this one. Finally, we talk about “ma” – the Japanese word for “emptiness” – that Miyazaki fills Totoro with, and why it might just be the secret to the joy of this film, now more than ever, in a frantic, digital world. This week, your favorite retired puppet wranglers stomp into the latex-and-foam wonderland of the 1991 ABC sitcom Dinosaurs—the prehistoric family comedy that was part TGIF hug-fest, part biting social satire, and entirely animatronic absurdity. From Earl Sinclair's mating dance to Baby's wooden spoon, we dig into how Jim Henson's Creature Shop brought the Stone Age to prime time—complete with full-body suits, radio-controlled faces, and enough sweat inside those costumes to fill a tar pit. Along the way, we unearth behind-the-scenes stories, meet the humans inside the dinos, and revisit the finale that traumatized an entire generation of unsuspecting children. It's nostalgia with teeth, puppetry with purpose, and just enough Baby Sinclair to make you flinch.Because even 65 million years later, we're still… not the mama.Join the discussion on our discord! https://discord.gg/JDtWJrhPF6Follow us on twitter @PMoNPodcast and on Instagram and Threads @puppetmastersofnoneFind out more about the puppet masters on our website: https://puppetmastersofnone.wixsite.com/puppetmastersofnoneOriginal Music Composed by Taetro. @Taetro https://www.taetro.com/Send us a text
A section analyzing David Bowie, from the 15th installment of Brett's Patreon-exclusive series on Monarch films. Full description of the episode below, along with our Patreon link, if you're interested in the full episode. In this 15th installment in the Monarch series, Brett delves into the Jim Henson-directed children's film Labyrinth (1986)—a film so saturated with Monarch content that it serves as a paradigm of Monarch cinema in general. The episode opens with a close look at the career of Monarch superstar Jennifer Connelly, including two other full-on Monarch films she starred in during the 1980s: Phenomena (1985) and Ballet (1989). Additionally, Brett examines the occult career of David Bowie (who plays the Goblin King in Labyrinth); he discusses Jim Henson's collaborations with the federal government (including the CIA-linked United States Information Agency), as well as reexamining Henson's sudden death at age 53; and he uncovers some stunning revelations by an entertainment industry insider and professed victim of Monarch abuse that relate to the plot of the film. Fritz Springmeier and Cisco Wheeler devote an entire section of their Illuminati Formula book to this film, and Brett combs over their analysis, while drawing some wider conclusions about the function of Labyrinth and other 1980s Monarch films geared toward children.https://www.patreon.com/PsyopCinemaIf you enjoy Psyop Cinema, check out the Decoding Culture Foundation and Cultural Engineering Studies magazine - https://decoding-culture.com/magazine-home/https://twitter.com/CinemaPsyophttp://psyop-cinema.com/https://linktr.ee/psyopcinemathomas-psyopcinema@protonmail.combrett-psyopcinema@protonmail.com
Using TV addiction to educate children. Sesame Street broke boundries and changed rules to bring education to every child. Dave Young: Welcome to the Empire Builders Podcast, teaching business owners the not-so-secret techniques that took famous businesses from mom and pop to major brands. Stephen Semple is a marketing consultant, story collector, and storyteller. I'm Stephen's sidekick and business partner, Dave Young. Before we get into today's episode, a word from our sponsor, which is... Well, it's us, but we're highlighting ads we've written and produced for our clients. So here's one of those. [Seaside Plumbing Ad] Dave Young: Welcome back to the Empire Builders Podcast, the podcast where Stephen Semple and Dave Young, that's me, Stephen Semple is him, we talk about businesses and how they grew and what made them empires. And normally during our little countdown to the recording, Stephen hands me the topic. He whispers in my ear what we're going to talk about today, and he didn't do that. So I still have no idea, but my enthusiasm is high because before we started recording, he said, "I've got some really good ones that we're going to record today." I'm thinking, "Finally. Finally, some good..." No, I just, they're all good. But you've got me on the edge of my seat, Stephen. You said I would be able to get this without the timer, without the countdown. Stephen Semple: That's it. So it starts off this way, "Can you tell me how to get, how to get to..." Dave Young: Sesame Street? I can sing it. Stephen Semple: Yes, that's it. Well, I could sing it as well, but no one wants to hear me sing. Dave Young: Sunny day, dah, dah, dah. Oh, yeah. Oh, Sesame Street. Stephen Semple: Yes. Dave Young: Cool. Stephen Semple: Yes. We're going to talk about Sesame Street. Now- Dave Young: Are we going to do voices? Stephen Semple: You might be able to. Dave Young: Here's the countdown, 5, 4... Four countdowns. Three. I don't think The Count did countdowns, did he? Stephen Semple: No, he never did, I don't think. But it's a nonprofit. It's owned by a nonprofit. Dave Young: [inaudible 00:02:59]. Stephen Semple: But a 1996 survey found that 95% of all American preschoolers had watched it by the time they were three years old. Dave Young: Sure. I believe that. Stephen Semple: Ninety-five percent. Now, when you hit a number like that, holy crap. I started looking at some of these things and went, "This is a story that we've got to explore." So Sesame Street first aired on November 10th, 1969 on Public Television. And put in perspective, that's the year that a man landed on the moon. That's what we're going back to. Dave Young: So here's the funny thing, I wasn't even a preschooler. I was six. I'd watch it today if it was still on. Stephen Semple: It's amazing. Dave Young: All the Spanish I know came from Sesame Street. Stephen Semple: There you go. Dave Young: I can count to 10. Stephen Semple: There you go. Amazing, eh? Dave Young: Yeah. So 1969... Stephen Semple: It changed television. And it's estimated that it's contributed to the education of over 150 million kids. It's the home of Elmo, and Tickle Me Elmo is one of the best-selling toys of all time, and all this was created and owned by a nonprofit. And the creators were Joan Cooney, Lloyd Morrisett, and of course, Jim Henson was a big contributor in the early days. And Joan was a documentary TV producer for Public Television. And the story basically starts in 1966, and Joan Cooney had just completed a documentary on a school in Harlem that was trying to close the gap in results with white counterparts. And if you think about it, in the mid-1960s, a lot is happening. The Civil Rights Movement is in full swing, but there's still this big gap. And Black first-graders are scoring lower on tests than 85% of white kids.

Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey dive into the sewer-soaked streets of New York for their Reaction & Review of the 1990 live-action classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, directed by Steve Barron. Based on the beloved comic and animated series, this fan-favorite film brings Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael to life using groundbreaking Jim Henson creature effects. Voiced by Brian Tochi (Revenge of the Nerds) as Leonardo, Robbie Rist (Full House) as Michelangelo, Corey Feldman (The Goonies, Stand by Me) as Donatello, and Josh Pais (A Beautiful Mind) as Raphael (who also physically portrayed the character), the film captures the turtles' distinct personalities as they battle crime and search for their kidnapped master, Splinter (voiced by Kevin Clash of Sesame Street fame). The movie also stars Judith Hoag (Halloweentown, Armageddon) as fearless reporter April O'Neil and Elias Koteas (The Thin Red Line, Crash) as vigilante Casey Jones, both of whom become unlikely allies in the fight against the villainous Foot Clan and their menacing leader, The Shredder (James Saito – Eli Stone, Always Be My Maybe). From rooftop ninja battles and pizza-fueled bonding to the emotionally charged rescue of Splinter and the final showdown with Shredder, this film blends martial arts action, humor, and heart in a way that defined '90s kids' cinema. Explore the early days of Disney's foray into video games, focusing on the company's collaboration with Sierra On-Line during the 1980s. The episode covers the background of Disney's interest in emerging technology under CEO Ron Miller, the animation studio's response to the home video and gaming boom, and how Sierra On-Line grew from a family-run business into a leader in graphic adventure games. Listeners will hear about the creation of classic games like Mystery House and the influence of pioneers Ken and Roberta Williams, as well as Sierra's partnerships with Jim Henson (for The Dark Crystal) and with Disney for educational “edutainment” software. The episode also discusses the development of titles such as Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood, Mickey's Space Adventure, Donald Duck's Playground, and The Black Cauldron. Eric explains the challenges of licensing Disney IP, why Sierra eventually moved on from Disney collaborations, and how shifts in Disney leadership impacted the future of Disney video games. This is part one of a series on Disney gaming history, with future episodes covering Disney's relationship with Capcom and the rise of the Disney video game empire. Welcome, all True Believers, to another episode of the Video Store Podcast. This week, I've got four films showcasing the superhero genre, long before the big superhero boom of the late 90s/early 00s that's still going strong today. Put on your mask, your spandex, and join me on the couch for a movie marathon that's, well, super!Batman: The Movie (1966)First up is Batman: The Movie from 1966. A spinoff of the popular TV show, this theatrical film is one for the ages. Still fun and funny, Batman: The Movie is a film that the whole family can sit down and enjoy, whether they've seen any of the Adam West/Burt Ward TV series. Make a bowl of popcorn and sit down with your partner in crime-fighting to enjoy Batman: The Movie. Dick Tracy (1990)One of the more underrated films of this era is 1990's Dick Tracy, directed by and starring Warren Beatty. This is a noir detective story in yellow. Filmed like a living comic book with a score by Danny Elfman, songs by Stephen Sondheim and Madonna, Dick Tracy is a film not to be missed. Put on your yellow trenchcoat, and I'll join you on the couch for a comic book classic that too few people have seen. I'm on my way! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)Order a pizza and settle in for a fun action comedy that's sure to please everyone. 1990's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brings the comic by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird to life with puppetry and costuming by Jim Henson's creature shop, a great soundtrack, and fantastic stunt and action sequences. You'll love every second of being a turtle with this film. The Phantom (1996)Charming pulpy goodness awaits you when you push play on The Phantom from 1996. Starring Billy Zane, Kristy Swanson, Treat Williams, and Patrick McGoohan, this is another underrated classic of comic book film lore not to be missed. Join the very first superhero to wear spandex and slam evil with The Phantom. Thanks for reading Video Store Podcast! This post is public so feel free to share it. This is a public episode. Returning to the podcast in this first segment is the documentary filmmaker Lisa D'Apolito ("Love, Gilda"). Coming-of-age can be difficult, but is always more bearable when you have someone who connects with you on a cellular level. Shari Lewis - a children's television pioneer before Fred Rogers, Jim Henson, and others - was one of those people. She was a dancer, singer, and magician, but was best known as the ventriloquist behind sock puppets Charlie Horse, Hush Puppy and, of course, Lamb Chop. This heartfelt and entertaining doc charts the life, loves, and career hits and misses of the spunky perfectionist who forever changed the face of children's television. Featuring ventriloquists she inspired and nostalgia-laden clips, this upbeat portrait brims, like Lewis, with warmth and charm. "Shari & Lamp Chop" is the tonic we all need to reconnect with our inner children, and celebrate pure imagination. "Shari & Lamp Chop" is currently enjoying a theatrical run. Visit the website for details. Returning to the podcast in the second segment is the documentary filmmaker Daniel Kremer. He was last on the podcast back in May of 2018. Perhaps at first glance, the filmography of Silvio Narizzano appears unremarkable. Thanks to his sleeper hit "Georgy Girl" (1966), he's known largely as a 'one-hit wonder' director. Upon closer inspection, however, likely no other filmmaker used cinema as effectively to exorcise personal demons in ways both ugly and beautiful. And few directors' sensibilities were more gay, both overtly and covertly. Film historian Daniel Kremer is your tour guide through an obscure, perplexing body of work heretofore ignored and often unfairly shunned. "Cruel, Usual, Necessary: The Passion of Silvio Narizzano" is an essay documentary of discovery. —Imprint Films
Join The Horror Movie Maniacs Grant and Ben as they team with Marc to ruthlessly shatter Scott's cherished childhood memories of the beloved Jim Henson classic, Labyrinth! For decades, Scott has clung to the notion that the 1986 fantasy epic is a beacon of pure, innocent magic, a whimsical adventure filled with catchy songs and memorable creatures. But prepare yourselves, because Grant and Ben are here to expose the truly unsettling, often predatory darker undertones lurking just beneath the film's enchanting surface. In this eye-opening episode, we're not just re-watching Labyrinth; we're dissecting it with an adult, and perhaps slightly twisted, lens. The conversation kicks off by meticulously examining Jareth, the Goblin King, portrayed with iconic flair by David Bowie. While many remember him as a flamboyant, enigmatic rock star villain, Grant and Ben argue his true nature is far more sinister. They'll delve into his unsettling obsession with the 15-year-old Sarah, peeling back the layers of his manipulative charm to reveal a deeply possessive, almost predatory desire. Is Jareth merely trying to trick Sarah into staying, or is he actively trying to claim her, to make her his queen, bound forever to his labyrinthine domain? The hosts will dissect pivotal scenes like the "Magic Dance" and the infamous "As the World Falls Down" ballroom sequence, revealing how these visually stunning moments actually serve as potent metaphors for manipulation and psychological entrapment.Check out Horror Movie Maniacs here - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/horror-movie-maniacs/id1688748986?uo=4&itsct=podtail_podcasts&itscg=30200&ls=1&at=1001l39ag&ct=uk-podcasts.co.uk

Apparently, you can't keep a good grifter down, as Billy McFarland's seven-figure Fyre Fest deal collapsed, so he's hawking the brand on eBay like a box of junk. Meanwhile, Indeed and Glassdoor are laying off over 1,000 workers, probably to pay for the AI that's jacking up our electric bills. Speaking of AI, a Tesla robotaxi crashed itself while Elon Musk's Grok chatbot went full Nazi, which is of course being installed in Teslas "next week." Fittingly, X CEO Linda Yaccarino stepped down and promptly lost her blue check. To cap off the dystopian news, the DOJ is targeting an anti-ICE app developer, the 'click-to-cancel' rule is dead, and you can hack McDonald's with the password ‘123456'. The future is now, and it's dumber than we ever imagined. On the media front, Murderbot gets a second season, and the Jim Henson and The Beach Boys documentaries are must-sees. Sadly, Netflix canceled The Residence. We also got trailers for Neuromancer, Project Hail Mary, and Edgar Wright's The Running Man. Speaking of building the future, we took a deep dive into AI-assisted coding using tools like Cursor, building a functional app in hours with zero original code. It's a stark reminder that while the "free lunch" of AI development is ending, the future for junior coders is already cooked. This glorious new world also includes playing every retro game ever on your phone, thanks to emulators like Delta and PPSSPP and the Backbone controller, which led to a nostalgic dive into the classic soundtracks of Mega Man 2 and Wipeout XL. This all culminated in a personal victory: conquering all 4,678 boards in Mahjong Titan+, freeing us from our porcelain thrones.Sponsors:DeleteMe - Head over to JoinDeleteMe.com/GOG and use the code "GOG" for 20% off.Private Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today. Marketing isn't just about pushing a product anymore. If you want to resonate, you need to think creatively, act authentically, and know when to take the spotlight off the brand and onto the people behind it.That's the magic of Jim Henson, where artistry meets innovation, and characters become cultural icons. In this episode, we tap into that enduring creative power with the help of our special guest, Adam Kranitz, Chief Marketing Officer at Resilio.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can learn from narrative consistency, egoless collaboration, and why it's time to stop making “content” and start telling stories that actually matter.About our guest, Adam KranitzAdam leads the marketing organization at Resilio, responsible for demand marketing, brand, and corporate communications. He is an experienced technology marketing leader with expertise in building and leading global marketing teams and strategies that grow revenue, increase product adoption, and build mindshare with competitive differentiation.Adam has led vision, strategy, and execution for all facets of B2B technology marketing, aligned with sales teams, for publicly traded technology firms, including Avid (NASDAQ: AVID) and Paychex (NASDAQ: PAYX), and SaaS start-ups, including CloudCheckr (acquired by NetApp) and LucidLink.Adam's customer-centric marketing approach has recently produced industry leadership recognition for his companies with a G2 Leader Report for Cloud File Storage and category leader in Cloud Management Wave report by Forrester Research. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Jim Henson Idea Man:Entertainment first, selling second. Jim Henson's early commercials didn't start with a coffee can—they started with chaos, characters, and charm. Adam puts it plainly: “Do we wanna beat people over the head with the technical benefits of the product, or do we wanna entertain and educate our prospects?” The goal isn't to pitch—it's to engage. Use storytelling to earn attention before you explain the value.Narrative consistency pays off. Kermit hasn't changed. Neither should your core brand story. “If we haven't landed our message and are consistently delivering it over time, through multiple channels… what have you created?” Adam asks. Like the Muppets, your brand needs to adapt across formats but stay true to character. A consistent voice builds trust—and keeps you top of mind.Let your experts do the talking. Your audience doesn't want to hear from the brand. They want to hear from the people behind it. “Nobody wants to see an AI talking head avatar… You've got smart people in your organization, it's your job as marketers to coach them up.” For Resilio, spotlighting their CTO, CPO, and CEO on LinkedIn unlocked real results. Empower your experts. That's who your buyers want to meet.Quote*“The best part of my job is when I get to get on a platform like this and do a video interview with one of our customers… and then they kind of unprompted will talk about how much they love Resilio… That magic moment where it clicked for them—that is just magic.”Time Stamps[0:55] Meet Adam Kranitz, Chief Marketing Officer at Resilio[00:56] Why Jim Henson Idea Man?[04:01] The Role of CMO at Resilio[05:31] Origins of Jim Henson Idea Man Documentary[13:07] The Creative Genius of Jim Henson[25:14] B2B Marketing Takeaways from Jim Henson[38:37] The Power of Serialized Content[42:49] The Importance of Video in Modern Marketing[52:59] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Adam on LinkedInLearn more about ResilioAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company.
