In Paris, in the 1920s, a myriad of languages was spoken. Elegant ladies from all over the world flocked to the French capital to shop to their heart's content. The city, a veritable crossroads of influences, drew inspiration from the most diverse sources. But if there was one country whose charms enchanted high society, it was China. Shanghai was on everyone's lips. The exotic name made people dream, and it inspired and offered a repertoire of new forms to designers. In the workshop of the Lacloche Brothers, a famous jewelry-making duo, traditional Chinese know-how influenced the most ambitious Art Deco creations. A door had opened onto a new world - a world that accompanied women in their desire for novelty and innovation.Voice of Jewels, a podcast from L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels. Can jewelry be used as an instrument in liberation or a tool in the struggle for freedom? It is the early 20th century. The world is abuzz with countless battles: those that tear nations apart, but also those for women's rights. It is in this tumultuous context that the Art Deco movement emerges. The jewelry pieces born from this artistic movement become symbols of modernity, freedom, and audacity. In their own way, they accompany the emancipation of women, in particular in the 1920s, nicknamed the “Roaring Twenties”! Their elegance stems from their audacity, mixed with an apparent simplicity. Yet, some of these jewelry items hide unexpected secrets... and even sly war strategies, like the famous Zouzou bracelet worn by Josephine Baker!Voice of Jewels, a podcast from L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels. The final five roll the dice on the chance to join Drag Race LIVE! in Vegas, but first they need to do a pseudo TicTac lunch with Latrice and film a kiosk promo for an act we know nothing about and never see. We do get a Ru directed photo shoot, but it also feels 14 weeks late. Then it's coats and a cloche on the runway and two different Rosses on the panel. Jewels shines, Onya's nerve and Lexi's heart take them both to the finale, Sam is almost country fried and it's an 11th hour boot of ye old Susan Marie Toot. Movie stars have always worn jewelry. In the 1920s, the Art Deco style gradually took over red carpets and film reels. Worn by some of the greatest actresses of the day, from Louise Brooks to Brigitte Helm, Art-Deco jewelry was the epitome of modern beauty. Raymond Templier, one of the leading jewelry-makers of that time, seized this opportunity to free his creations from tradition, and mark his era with bold pieces, celebrating speed and pure lines.Voice of Jewels, a podcast from L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels. Where do new ideas come from? What is the genesis of those masterpieces that have redefined Modernity? At the beginning of the 20th century, a revolutionary artistic movement emerged, with the ambition of changing everything. This movement was Art Deco. A new style, with clean, pure lines that owes its name to an event with global repercussions, held in Paris in 1925: The International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts.At the heart of this avant-garde event, and amongst the jewels that were awarded the Grand Prix, was a bracelet. Its name: Fleurs enlacées, roses rouges et blanches or “Entwined Flowers, Red and White Roses”. Signed Van Cleef & Arpels, this bracelet was the perfect combination of tradition and Modernity.Voice of Jewels, a podcast from L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels. Please welcome Fitwife Jewels to The Adventures of a Hotwife Podcast. I have to admit that this is one of my favorite interviews of all time because I got to talk to the woman who truly has done it all. From a rough childhood, to her profession as a FemDom, to becoming a fitness competitor at 40, to writing a memoir (go check out The Making of a Woman), to her stint on the hotwife Tour, we discuss it all! She also gives the best metaphor of hotwifing I have ever heard (it has to do with driving a Porsche 911) and describes her love for carrot cake (a woman after my own heart). We left no stone unturned in our time together and I loved every minute of it. ❤️Follow more of Fitwife Jewels here: https://fitwifejewels.com/Support the showVisit https://linktr.ee/sexxxysoccermom to see a whole lot more of Sexxxy Soccer Mom!

The season has been no stranger to feuds, even passive aggressive ones started through mirror messages, but this week it's between the queens and a sombreroed Ross Mathews with a compromised larynx. Or is the feud really between director Cheyenne Jackson and his leading man/unofficial AD? Then of course there's Lexi vs Lexi's idea of Suzie, and apparently Sam and Lydia never liked each other? Lana's still fighting with her brand as she once again defies our very clear and well defined expectations of her on the runway. Meanwhile Onya nails it in the challenge and serves pizza on the runway, Jewels doesn't quite have the vernacular to master her monologue and the Butthole of the season has an unholy encounter with a pair of scissors. Don't hate on us cause the episode is late, but we may let you roast us! This week we're covering the Haters Roast, where the queens have to roast 3 villains from Drag Race past (Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Plane Jane, and Kandy Muse). We also discuss if Jewels' order was fair, if Lexi's inner saboteur is getting the best of her, as well as Suzie Toot-y's fruity booty! This episode was edited by the amazing Nicholas Crawford

Jewels says it's probably OK to tell little ones the truth when they have questions as long as we keep the explanations at their level, but also acknowledges, as usual, that she could be wrong. And if you have little loved ones in your life (don't we all?), she recommends writing good old fashioned letters and cards because young children like receiving mail and they'll know that you're thinking about them, even if they don't tell you.Try it sometimeemail: jewelssays@gmail.comNot actively checking Instagram, but still there... @jewelssays Hosted on Acast. We've been having a look back through the Tape Notes archive to bring back some of our favourite early episodes that you may have missed. This selection is our conversation from Summer 2020, with Josh Davis, better know as DJ Shadow. EPISODE NOTES In this episode, John ventures over to Wendy House Studios to catch up with hip-hip royalty Josh Davis AKA DJ Shadow, to talk through how he recorded and produced his latest album ‘Our Pathetic Age' and his chart-topping album ‘The Mountain Will Fall'. Josh gives us a full insight in to his largest most diverse project yet, breaking down his writing process from the moment he randomly dips in to his vast record collection for inspiration, to discovering unlikely source material such as an abandoned record collection rescued from a friend of his father's. We get to hear the original samples that form the basis of some of his biggest hits as well as the raw vocal stems of Nas and Pharoahe Monch rapping at each other from different studios. Listen to find out about Josh's meticulous sample editing process, what mixing mistake meant he had to sneakily rerelease a track, and why he had to gate-crash a Run the Jewels gig. We're back to our Lesser-trod Histories series! This month, we are looking at the History of Middle-earth Volume 4, The Shaping of Middle-earth. Jude and Stef chat about the Dagor Dagorath (a.k.a. the Last Battle, or the Second Prophecy of Mandos) from its earliest stages in the Sketch of the Mythology through to the most recent version in The War of the Jewels. We discuss why a questionable Man is involved in slaying Arda's baddest baddie, and we discuss whether this story should have been included in the published Silmarillion. He is known as the most important American artist of the second half of the 20th century. A Pop icon par excellence, rumor has it that he once declared: “It would be glamorous to be reincarnated as a great big ring on Liz Taylor's finger.” In a sense, that is exactly what he did. Historiansplaining: A historian tells you why everything you know is wrong
It is one of the foundational achievements of archaeology, and one of the most momentous discoveries ever made in any field -- We follow the long debate over whether and where the remains of the ancient legendary city of Troy could be found, and we see how the mystery was solved by the excavations overseen by the brilliant, ruthless, and indefatigable German businessman, explorer, and serial liar, Heinrich Schliemann. Pt. 2 will examine how modern scholars and excavators have used the finds from the site in Turkey -- including the long lost priceless "Treasure of Priam" -- to reconstruct the city and its place in the Bronze-Age world. Music: "Les Cyclopes" by Jean-Philippe Rameau, played on piano by Paul Barton, and published by Feurich Piano. Treasures have been found at the bottom of the sea, in the jungle, in fields … usually far removed from human habitation. But there have been some remarkable exceptions! A few feet underground, in the middle of one of London's busiest streets, the Cheapside wooden chest managed to conceal its secrets for three hundred years. Without doubt, the most urban treasure story imaginable.Voice of Jewels, a podcast from L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels. Some treasures disappear forever ... but others resurface.Like the sunken treasure of Belitung.Once submerged in a reef, somewhere in the Java Sea, the treasure now holds pride of place, in the heart of the Asian Civilizations Museum in Singapore.Presented in a display that evokes the benevolent and impetuous waves on which it once sailed, the Belitung Treasure contains remarkable riches. It is also connected to the great history of the Silk Roads. Synonymous with human adventure, full of wonder and peril.Voice of Jewels, a podcast from L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels. Send us a textIn this episode, I had the pleasure of chatting with Tyler Snure, an incredible young author whose journey is as inspiring as his books. Tyler published his debut novel, The Jewels of Fate, when he was just 17 years old. With a lifelong passion for reading and storytelling, Tyler began writing creatively at the age of seven, and his first book took over five years to complete. What started as a short story in elementary school blossomed into a captivating trilogy that fans of fiction, fantasy, and adventure will love. The second novel in the series, The Sword of Sorenth, followed a few years later, solidifying Tyler's talent for crafting engaging and action-packed stories. His books are perfect for all ages, especially readers aged 12-18, with themes of found family, community, and thrilling adventures akin to the Percy Jackson series. Tyler is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English and resides in Ontario, Canada, with his family and dog.Episode HighlightsTyler's early love for reading and writing storiesThe creative process behind The Jewels of Fate and the trilogy's evolutionThemes of found family and community in his booksThe tone and audience for his books and their similarity to the Percy Jackson seriesInsights into Tyler's writing inspirations and journeyConnect with Tyler Snure:InstagramYoutubeFacebookWebsitePurchase Tyler's booksBooks and authors mentioned in the episode:Divergent by Veronica RothThe Maze Runner by James DashnerThe Hardy Boys by Franklin W.
