This is a time where I share personal experiences in hopes that you learn from them. I don’t expect you to, but I’ve always like to learn from other people and I hope that someone will one day learn for me.
Ambition derives from the Latin ambitio, ‘a going around (to solicit votes)’, and, by extension, ‘a striving for honour, recognition, and preferment’. It can be defined as a striving for some kind of achievement or distinction, and involves, first, the desire for achievement, and, second, the motivation and determination to strive for its attainment even in the face of adversity and failure. To be ambitious is to achieve first and foremost not for the sake of achievement itself (which is to be high-reaching) but for the sake of distinguishing ourselves from other people. Were we the last person on earth, to be ambitious would make little or no sense. Ambition is often spoken of in the same breath as hope, as in ‘hopes and ambitions’. Hope is the desire for something to happen combined with an anticipation of it happening. In contrast, ambition is the desire for achievement or distinction combined with the willingness to strive for its achievement. Generally speaking, ambition is more self-referential and more self-reliant than hope. The opposite of hope is fear, hopelessness, or despair; the opposite of ambition is simply lack of ambition, which is not in itself a negative state. Ambition is sometimes thought of as a form of greed, or the acceptable face of greed, which can be defined as the excessive desire for more than is needed or deserved, not for the greater good but for one’s own selfish interest. Greed reduces our focus to the pursuit of its object. Ambition, in contrast, is more flexible and far-reaching, and can enable us to flourish and contribute to the flourishing of others. Ultimately, the difference between greed and ambition may simply be one of emphasis, with greed being reductive and destructive, and ambition expansive and adaptive.

I’m hitting a point in life where I’m going back and looking at who I have become. As a child I would always look for what made me, me. What occurrences in culture and my immediate environment led to, Scintillating. In 2011, I was 25 years old, the top banker in my region, and looking at the meaning of life. God was, for me, where I found life’s meaning. Also during this time, I had already traveled heavily throughout the United States, lived on my own and supported myself, but lacked true relationships and an understanding of self. Today, I’ve made the decision to begin going back and seeing who I’ve become and the events or occurrences that have challenged me to becomes me. Funny thing, this is the second time in my life leaving Corporate America...feels great! Now for some more personal growth... As leaders and those who influence our personal community, we must understand servant leadership, the concept of planting seeds, and the necessity to be selfless. Often times, we confuse leadership with dictatorship. A dictator barks out orders and does not take into account the wants and needs of others. A servant leader is the complete opposite. A servant leader works tirelessly to develop his or her people and is focused on what they can do for others.
Creativity in the work-place is important because life is a balance act of effort and reward. When I look at creativity, there is a heavy emphasis on intuition; some unconscious reasoning and understanding of something. When intuition and creativity become a melting pot, enormous amounts of stress are released. Thank you for listening..... This is a podcast reflecting the single "I Pray, " recorded by Scintillating in 2019, available where music is sold. Here is the essay and audio reflecting the idea behind the song: When I created “I Pray,” I had in mind all the various times in life I have had to become a “Man.” This is my literally form of, “I Pray,” in hopes that we as growing beings seek what greater cause we live for, often times the first step is finding it. In it’s purest form, prayer is a formal and dignified request. It its is also used in treaty or exhortation. That is PRAY not PREY. The notion behind, to pray or, prayer is there is hope. In everything that I have every created, it has been with the hope that it provides an ounce of joy. Our cultures is in dire need of less judgement and more encouragement. If you’ve never heard or know anything about me, I come from a broken home, poverty, depression, anxiety, loss of self worth, and experienced a hefty divorce all before the age of 33. I was always told one of two things: I would amount to nothing; whatever I did, it would be great. I’ve owned several successfully operated businesses. All of which I did the marketing, e-commerce, sales, and import/exports for…all of which I eventually allowed to see it’s next chapter. I have only worked for Fortune 500 companies since the age of 18, all one which I advanced to leadership level. I am the first in my family to graduate from college. I finished my Masters of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Industrial/Organizational Psychology in 2017. I have had published and self published over five books. I am an example that having hope and having a desire in life can result to such desire regardless of the road. Everything I experienced in my life, I felt like the world was against me. There was always a small voice that would tell me, “Just keep goin.” Amongst the fear of crowds, anxiety from tensive conversations, and an insecurity due to not understanding how to love my self… I was able to just keep going. Now I know, that small voice was my hopes and dreams I had as a child. The desires to be and become crying with tears to be heard. Yet, ignored due the the wiles of life we invoke with our selfish desires. I learned to listed to that small voice of joy inside and now. I am a happy all the days.
We are taught to multitask as children. The child who does the best, the fastest, wins the prize. The top performing employee is that same child who struggles with perfection. All this at the hazard of relationships. Imperfections at times can blind you as you watch your peers passing by. Take a moment and breathe. Personally, my brain is so hyper active that I often need to drown the sound of thoughts with what brings me peace. Be it music, a phrase, or a visual, take a moment and breathe. Reflect on who you are, were, and are becoming. You are not your past. Your past is behind you. Stop looking at it!
In the business world we are taught that success is the goal. The “red ticket”, the thing to strive for is success...right? What is success? Really...how is success defined? Could one be successful and stagnant or does stagnation happen because of success? In a world where change is the norm, how can we ever be successful?
Imagine a world where as you connected eyes with a stranger, in your heart you knew they were up to good. We see it in the movies time and time again. The camera scrolling across the happy faces as our brains put to sense what we see with our eyes. Emotionally, we connect. After an hour or so, we judge the movie and remember those moments of calm. If we did all we could to live at peace with those around us, I’d argue that ignominy would cease.
I’ve noticed one thing is constant...time. This thing called time is a (insert curse word) because it is relentless and heartless. But it is constant and everyone wraps life around it. I spent some time living life by day light. I would be up before the sun and down very soon after. Without a doubt, this period of my existence aligns with this quote I share in this podcast. When the word confident is broken down, conviction comes to mind; firm belief or opinion. I’ve failed at seeing the positive in every situation several times in my life. When individuals speak or communicate in general, I pay very close attention to the language they are using; decoding. Our words will dictate to others what is going on inside our brain. To be convicted is to have an understanding of truth, but isn’t truth subjective and full of opinions, view points and perspective?
Tell me that I am wrong and I would have found several ways to manipulate the situation to convince you otherwise. It would be fallible for me to seek out explaining the level of pride inside me. We have all been through experiences that have caused us to shut off the vulnerability of our emotions, damaging our self-worth. Pride not only comes before the fall, the approach with such application is archaic.
How Social Media Changes Thinking Eyes open and immediately the brain is flooded with hormones. Melatonin levels have peaked, cortisol (the stress hormone) is on the rise, the psyche is immersed in dreams/subconscious thoughts. So, what do you do? Hit the snooze button, stay curled up, check notifications and responsibilities...but what about you? Where is time for you? Society has created a norm that electronics and the ability to immediately connect with others is the primary goal of life; is it
