As the premier season of the show comes to a close, Richie Sambora sends it off with a fun, free-wheeling episode that looks at his high-drama fingerwork on “Only Lonely” from Bon Jovi's second record, 1985's 7800° Fahrenheit. (The song's music video is everything you'd ever want from mid-'80s hard rock.) Richie joins Shifty subterranean-style, from his mother's basement in New Jersey, where he's equipped with a reverse-headstock Charvel, complete with a Floyd Rose system. It's a busy time for Sambora: His first new single in 11 years, “I Pray,” dropped in late April, alongside a brand new, four-part Bon Jovi documentary.  For “Only Lonely,” Sambora recalls that he used just a 50-watt Marshall and a yellow Boss overdrive pedal to push it to the limit. Producer Lance Quinn captured the performance at the Warehouse in Philly in spring 1985, and Sambora hasn't slowed at all since that day. Shifty takes a run at a few of Sambora's blistering lead screeds before Richie takes the reins and brings it home. They don't leave it at “Only Lonely”; as an added bonus, they run through Sambora's famous licks from “Bad Medicine,” too. Between solo runs, Richie talks about his current rig (no modelers for him, just old-school tube-amp goodness) and addresses the rumors: Will he rejoin Bon Jovi after 11 years gone? I Pray that you pray in tongues in 2024

VAYETZEI In The Darkest of Times, I Pray. In recent days, a moment has been publicized that can leave no one indifferent. Since that fateful Simchat Torah morning, there was a solitary moment of happiness, a moment of "light" in a dual sense: the rescue of Ori Megidish from captivity in Gaza, where she was founds alive, and safe. A video was circulated a few days before the rescue: her mother, Margalit Megidish, participating in a ceremony of separating challah for the salvation of her daughter. She stands and pleads with G-d for deliverance and salvation, and suddenly, she utters with a pounding heart, "Hashem, I love you." But where does this come from? Whom does she love? Her life fell apart; her daughter is in Gaza, in the hands of creatures beyond human description, and she loves the A-lmighty?! Does she feel Him with her? Does she have energy left to love?! This moment captures the deepest and most profound dimension of our relationship: "And our faith in the darkness." The faith that G-d does not forsake us and is always by our side. Faith doesn't produce answers and doesn't explain why, but it provides the strength to live with the questions. It awakens an intuition above reason and understanding, that even in chaos, He is present, and even when He seems distant – He is close. Hello family!Happy Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary!  This is day 54 of our 54-day Rosary Novena.Every year on October 7th, The Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, formerly known as Feast of Our Lady of Victory. Pope Pius the V, Established this feast in 1573 to thank God for a Christian military victory over the Turks- a victory attributed to the praying of the Rosary.The way we pray the rosary has developed over time. According to franciscanmedia.org. The Initial practice was to pray for 150 Our Fathers to imitate the 150 Psalms. Then there was a parallel practice of Praying 150 Hail Marys. In the 16th Century, the Rosary was developed to include 15 Mysteries of the life of Jesus; 5 Joyful, 5 Sorrowful, and 5 Glorious. In 2002, Pope John Paul II added the 5 Luminous Mysteries to the Rosary. The purpose of the Rosay is to help us meditate on the mysteries of our salvation: the birth of Jesus, His Life, death, and resurrection.The 54-Day Rosary Novena Originated In the Late 19th, Century when Mary made an apparition to a Young girl, Agrelli of Naples, Italy. We will be giving special focus in this season after Pentecost to the subject of the Holy Spirit – seeking a deeper understanding of the Spirit and a greater experience of the Spirit's power in our lives. I'm bursting with excitement about this upcoming series, and I hope you will be too! THIS SERIES WILL BE PRACTICAL One of my goals in this series is to apply the teachings to our personal lives. This has always been a goal in my preaching, but I'm going to be very intentional about making this series of teachings on the Holy Spirit more than simply imparting information. For this series, I'm planning to include a note page in the bulletin to encourage everyone to follow the message outline and take notes. THIS SERIES WILL BE PERSONAL Through this series, I'll be sharing my personal faith journey and experience of growing in my own knowledge of the Holy Spirit. I want these messages to touch something deeply personal in each of us – as we each come to discover more about the reality of the Holy Spirit and how the Spirit fills us, comforts us, empowers us with spiritual gifts, and transforms us to be more like Jesus. THIS SERIES WILL BE PRAYERFUL We will be giving space in our worship for prayer, inviting us to realize how the Spirit helps us to pray and speaks to us as we grow in communion with Him. And I encourage everyone to pray throughout the week with anticipation – asking the Holy Spirit to speak through the preacher, and asking the Holy Spirit to become more real in each of our lives. AND, I PRAY, THIS SERIES WILL BE POWERFUL I don't mean to suggest in a prideful way that the sermons or the preacher will be powerful. What I mean is that as we focus on the Holy Spirit and prayerfully invite the Spirit to move within and among us, we are bound to experience more of the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit – hope-filled power that is often lacking in churches and in our personal lives. We are bound to become more empowered for God's Kingdom Life! And I believe this could be a powerful season in the life of Venice Presbyterian Church. So, let's buckle up for this exciting ride together with the Holy Spirit!

A Prayer for our Families- How do I Pray? I have spent the last week talking to all of you ladies. It's been emotional. In the last episode, we talked about those families and how incredibly hard it is when we leave the church and all the dynamics of the relationships. The aftermath, if you will. Talking with you all broke my heart in so many ways. But another theme was present with all of you. Prayer. If you had found Jesus and were building a relationship with Him, you had a good Christian friend that has sat and prayed with you. Many of you said, "I had never heard a prayer like that!" If you are still searching and trying to navigate this post-Mormon or post religion landscape you flat out said, "I don't know how to pray. How do you speak to Him and how does He speak to you?"
