Wisdom can ultimately be reduced to the simple process of avoiding that which makes you go weak. Not adding more.Subtracting what drains you.The law of attraction tells you to want more, manifest more, attract more. But wanting implies you don't have. "I want" never gets—because the universe is a jokester. When you seek, you confirm you lack. When you subtract what makes you weak, you radiate abundance. That's when opportunities find you ready. Not because you forced them. Because you changed.Take 3 seconds. Make a list of what you do. Trust your gut. You'll understand your relationship to what weakens you. Earned dopamine from splitting wood versus shallow pleasure from scrolling. The bee and butterfly don't force attraction—they're naturally drawn to flowers. You can have material wealth, but walk the tightrope: too many unnecessary things steal the space and freedom needed for wisdom. This episode reveals why attraction is achieved through subtraction, how seeking more confirms the prison of ambition, and the necessary subtraction of non-serving parts of yourself. When you can't bend, you break. Stop forcing. Start subtracting. Listen if you're ready to invert everything you thought you knew about getting what you want.
Welcome to another episode of the You Can Call Me “Bossy" podcast. In today's conversation I sit down with powerhouse publicist KJ Blattenbauer, a champion for bold brands and especially female founders. With nearly three decades of PR experience, KJ shares her unapologetic approach to visibility, reframing the word “bossy” as a badge of leadership, credibility, and empowerment rather than an insult. Together, KJ and I dive into the challenges women face around judgment, fear of being “too much,” and the conditioning that encourages us to shrink instead of shining in our ambition. This episode is packed with real talk about embracing your power, the importance of claiming authority, navigating corporate dynamics, and why being your own hype woman is not just okay—it's essential. From stories about corporate America to advice for women wanting to blaze their own path, KJ offers inspiration, tangible strategies, and a big permission slip to be visible and authentic—bossiness and all. If you've ever worried about being called “too bossy,” this conversation will help you see it as your superpower. Let's get into it! Most people don’t fail at buying a business because they’re not smart enough. They fail because—without realizing it—they’re setting themselves up to lose before they even begin. In this solo episode of the BOB podcast, Jaryd Krause goes off-script and gets brutally honest about the real reasons people struggle to acquire online businesses, and why these same patterns show up in money, business, and life. This isn’t a tactical “how-to” episode. It’s a mindset reset. Jaryd breaks down the five biggest reasons people fail at buying a business, drawing from his own journey, his work with buyers around the world, and the patterns he sees repeatedly derail otherwise capable people. You’ll learn: Why you don’t need to know how to run or buy a business before acquiring one How “good” advice becomes dangerous when you treat general guidance as personal truth Why most people are mentally unprepared for the acquisition process—even when they have the money How impatience and unrealistic timelines quietly sabotage deals The uncomfortable truth about why wanting a business isn’t enough—and when change only happens out of necessity Jaryd also dives into cultural differences, ambition, pain as a driver of success, and why some people push through every obstacle while others stall indefinitely. This episode is raw, reflective, and unapologetically real.

What if stepping back wasn't failure, but strategy? In this episode of Why Isn't Everyone Doing This?, I sit down with Neha Ruch, founder of Mother Untitled and author of The Power Pause, for one of the most validating conversations I've had about ambition, identity, and motherhood. Neha names something so many women feel but rarely have language for: the tension between wanting a meaningful career and wanting to be deeply present with our children, without burning ourselves out or betraying ourselves in the process. She reframes the idea of a “career pause” as an empowered, intentional choice, not a step backward, but a recalibration. We talk about why motherhood has been intellectually and culturally diminished, how internalized capitalism keeps women stuck in guilt loops, and why the most ambitious thing you can sometimes do is choose what matters most right now. This conversation is honest, nuanced, and deeply relieving, especially if you've ever felt like you were failing at something when you were actually just listening to your intuition. If you've ever felt pulled between ambition and presence… this episode is for you. In this episode, we explore: • Why motherhood has been “dumbed down” culturally • The concept of the Power Pause, and why language matters • How to make intentional choices without shame or guilt • Ambition vs. intuition (and why it doesn't have to be either/or) • Internalized patriarchy and capitalism in working motherhood • Seasonality, boundaries, and redefining success • Why presence matters more than hours About Neha Ruch Neha Ruch is the founder of Mother Untitled, a leading platform for ambitious women navigating parenthood, and the author of The Power Pause. Her work is reshaping how society understands stay-at-home motherhood, ambition, and identity. Neha has been featured on Oprah, USA Today, and beyond. Where This Work Continues This episode touches on questions we explore more deeply inside Level 3 — how to redefine success, work with seasons instead of against them, and make choices that actually support the life you're living now. Level 3 focuses on the inner practices that help those choices feel steady and sustainable. Explore Level 3 here:
Today's guest sits right at the intersection of ambition, emotional intelligence, and the science of love — and this conversation is one I know so many of you will feel deeply. I'm joined by Melissa Nanavati, a speaker, author, and Relationship Architect who helps high performers build peaceful, thriving relationships without sacrificing their big goals. Melissa blends neuroscience, biology, and lived experience to teach ambitious women how to apply the same skills that make them successful in business… to love. Despite early success as a textbook author and Fortune 100 consultant, Melissa found herself stuck in anxious attachment and went on over 100 first dates before meeting her husband. What happened next is powerful — in their first year together, they raised $1.1 million while running two businesses. Through that journey, Melissa developed science-backed frameworks that support executives, founders, and driven women who want relationships that feel secure, grounded, and aligned with who they're becoming. In this episode, we dive into love, attachment, ambition, nervous system regulation, dating, healing, and what it truly takes to thrive in partnership as a high performer. If you've ever felt like you can excel in business but struggle in relationships — this conversation is for you. You're not broken. You've just never been given the frameworks. And Melissa is here to change that. What We Cover in This Episode
Empowered Relationship Podcast: Your Relationship Resource And Guide
Are you chasing every gold star, climbing every ladder, and nailing every "right" mark—only to find yourself missing out on real fulfillment and meaningful connection? The relentless pursuit of achievement can sometimes leave us feeling lonely, disconnected from ourselves, and trapped in relationships that don't truly nourish our hearts. When ambition runs amok, the cost may be far greater than just burnout or missed vacation days—it can lead to self-abandonment and relationships that feel more like a cage than a home. In this episode, you'll discover how overachievement and perfectionism can sabotage our capacity for genuine connection—and what it takes to turn things around. Through honest storytelling and practical insight, the conversation explores the hidden costs of self-abandonment and the steps toward reclaiming self-worth, authenticity, and aligned love. Whether you're feeling the grind of burnout or yearning for more realness in your relationships, you'll gain tools for slowing down, getting honest with yourself, and opening up to relationships that feel like home. In this episode, Therese Markow, Dr. Jerald Kay, and Dr. Joel Yager discuss the various forms of ambition: lack of ambition, mismatched ambition, Machiavellian ambition, and how to deal with malignant narcissists. Key Takeaways: There are biological underpinnings to ambition, but much of what we know about ambition is built on repeated interactions as children. Not everyone who is Machiavellian is ambitious. Not everyone ambitious is Machiavellian. But when you have people who have dark triad characteristics, it can mean trouble for those around them. There are levels of narcissism. Only some are treatable. The last division of severe narcissism is called malignant personality disorder and is relatively untreatable. "It's both nature and nurture. We know ambition runs in families. And we know kids that are adopted into families with ambitious parents turn out to be more ambitious than if they weren't adopted into those kinds of families." — Dr. Joel Yager Episode References: https://journals.lww.com/jonmd/fulltext/2023/04000/ambition_and_its_psychopathologies.1.aspx Connect with Therese: Website: www.criticallyspeaking.net Bluesky: @CriticallySpeaking.bsky.social Instagram: @criticallyspeakingpodcast Email: theresemarkow@criticallyspeaking.net Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. In this episode of Leaders in Living Rooms, Sean Morgan sits down with Jonathan Moynihan, Lead Pastor of Mosaic Christian Church in Baltimore, to explore a leadership journey shaped more by formation than ambition. Jonathan shares how what he once assumed was a call to church planting unexpectedly became a rapid succession into the lead pastor role—after years of hidden preparation, inner work, and confronting unhealthy ambition. Together, Sean and Jonathan unpack themes of calling versus opportunity, the dangers of tying worth to performance, and how silence, solitude, and failure became essential tools God used to form Jonathan into a healthier, more grounded leader. This honest conversation offers a rare look at the interior life of leadership, reminding pastors that God's primary work is often deeper than visible success. Welcome to Episode 149 of the Leaders in Living Rooms Podcast with Sean Morgan.
Higher Ed AV PodcastEpisode 337The Long-Awaited Special Guest EpisodeIn this special episode of the Higher Ed AV Podcast, Joe welcomes a long-awaited guest, his wife, Amy, for a candid, hilarious conversation that pulls back the curtain on their life behind the scenes. Together, they reflect on the sacrifices, support, and real-world tradeoffs that shaped Joe's career journey, balancing ambition, family, and the grind of leadership. The episode closes on a powerful note as Amy shares a message about grace and contentment, reminding listeners they don't have to build their lives alone. The conversation opens with pure “Way household” energy, Joe and Amy playfully spar over his signature intro, the pressure of being on video, and what it's like stepping into a space where thousands of listeners feel familiar, even if Amy would rather stay behind the scenes. Joe admits he rarely scripts episodes, but tries this time… only to watch it immediately go off the rails in the best way. It's light, authentic, and sets the tone for an episode that feels more like a front-porch conversation than a formal interview. From there, they move into the real stuff: their blended family, the behind-the-curtain reality of Joe's career trajectory, and the seasons where Amy carried extra weight at home while Joe pursued degrees and chased the next calling. Amy speaks candidly about what that looked like day-to-day with kids, schedules, dinner, the emotional load while Joe acknowledges the cost and names something many leaders forget. Career growth is rarely an individual accomplishment… it's often built on unseen support, shared sacrifice, and a partner willing to hold the rope while you climb. They also take a fun detour through “conference life” as Amy describes being dropped into the pro AV world with trips to Barcelona and Bangkok, rooftop bars, industry personalities, and the moments that made her realize this community is both nerdy and genuinely relational. But her sharpest insight comes as an outsider looking in… Titles don't impress her, character does. That perspective becomes a mirror for Joe's imposter syndrome and constant drive for “more,” and it lands as a timely lesson for leaders: not everyone is chasing the same ladder, and success isn't always promotion, it's alignment with what matters most.By the end, this episode stops being “Joe finally got Amy on the mic” and becomes an enduring a reminder that the best leadership is anchored before it's amplified. The laughs are real, but so is the message… Ambition without connection will always feel hollow, and achievement without gratitude will never feel like enough. Whether you're building a career, a team, or a legacy, the takeaway is simple, don't do it alone. Let faith, community, and the people who truly know you keep you grounded, so the life you're building is one you can actually live.Connect with Joe Way:Web: https://www.josiahway.comLinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/josiahwayX (Formerly Twitter): https://www.x.com/josiahwayInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/josiahway

STELLAR ORIGINS AND COMPETING COSMOLOGIES Colleague Professor Paul Halpern. The focus shifts to Fred Hoyle, whose musical mother taught him to read via silent film subtitles. Halpern details Hoyle's journey to Cambridge, where his ambition to work in nuclear physics was interrupted by WWII radar research. Hoyle became fascinated by astronomy, eventually authoring a key 1946 paper on stellar nucleosynthesis, proposing that elements are forged inside stars. This set the stage for the "Great Big Bang Debate." While Gamow argued for element creation in a hot, primeval explosion, Hoyle developed the Steady State theory, filling in the gaps of an expanding universe. NUMBER 2 1961
RISKING IT ALL TO DOCK DRAGON WITH THE ISS Colleague Eric Berger. To fund its Mars ambitions, SpaceX needed NASA contracts to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) using the Dragon spacecraft. Unlike traditional capsules, Dragon integrated propulsion directly into the vehicle to support future reusability. Behind schedule, SpaceX combined two test missions (C2 and C3) into one high-stakes attempt. During the approach, the spacecraft's LIDAR navigation system faltered, forcing NASA flight director Holly Ridings to make a "brave call": she allowed SpaceX to rewrite software on the fly, defying standard mission rules to achieve a successful docking. I wanted to end this year with a simple thing. A thank you. A real one. The kind that comes from the ribs. Because you might not realise how often I think about you when I sit down to plan these episodes. I think about what you're navigating, what might help, what could spark a shift, or soften a blow, or give you a way through a knotty day. And I'm grateful that you're here, listening, building a creative life alongside me. It's been a challenging year for so many of us. We've ridden wave after wave in the social, political, economic, and arts climates. It's been loud out there. Overwhelming at times. And artists, more than most, have a knack for turning all of that noise into blame. Blame for what we didn't finish. For what we haven't achieved yet. Blame for the mythical future selves we think we should already be. My brain does that too. Ambition is a beautiful engine, but it forgets to look back at the road travelled. It forgets the courage it's taken to get here. It forgets what we've survived, created, learned, and quietly carried. So instead of listing everything I've done this year, I wanted to talk about something I rely on every single day. Gratitude. Not the glossy version. The real, grounded, neuroscience-backed kind. The kind that keeps you upright when the world tilts. -- Most artists are guessing their way through and staying stuck far longer than they need to. Inside Ceri Hand´s Coaching Membership, you get straight answers and real support through live sessions, portfolio reviews, virtual studio visits, monthly art world experts, and community to help you cut through fast. Ceri covers everything. Right now, you can join or gift a full year for £99 - our only discount of the year, available until the first of January. Please join here - http://cerihand.com/membership/ KEY TAKEAWAYS We're so quick to measure ourselves against the version of us we think we should already be. The one who's achieved more, finished more, ticked more boxes. But we forget the person who got us through this year. The one who kept showing up when life was heavy or heartbreaking or just plain hard. A new year won't transform your life if you carry last year's avoidance into it. If you're an artist standing at the edge of something important, let this be the year you stop walking around the perimeter of your life and finally step in. BEST MOMENTS “I want to invite you to pause and notice what you're grateful for, not the obvious wins - the quieter things, the things you did for yourself, the things you did for others, the things you survived, the moments of courage no one else saw.” “Confidence doesn't arrive first. Courage does - And courage usually shows up exactly where you feel the wobble.” HOST BIO With over 35 years in the art world, Ceri has worked closely with leading artists and arts professionals, managed public and private galleries and charities, and curated more than 250 exhibitions and events. What happens when you get everything you thought you wanted, and it still doesn't feel like enough? For Paul Ollinger, that question surfaced after leaving Facebook with financial freedom in his early forties. On paper, it was success. In reality, it sparked a deeper reckoning about identity, purpose, and what actually makes a life feel whole. In this conversation, Paul reflects on the disorienting space that can follow achievement, the moment he realised money had stopped being the motivator he thought it was, and the uncomfortable freedom of having no obvious next step. He explores the tension between ambition and contentment, why work plays such a powerful role in belonging, and how redefining happiness became essential rather than optional. This episode is an honest look at what really defines success … and a reminder that fulfilment doesn't begin when you reach the number, but when you ask better questions about what comes next. Two very different and almost identical travelers, David Abel and I. We both explore and breathe curiosity. David is demonstrably ambitious, I more demonstrably gestalt. His childhood Dickensian, mine bourgeois, yet each gave birth to a hunger for experience and a reasonably ambiguous approach to normal.Signposts in our conversation turned us toward learning we couldn't hold back our own tides, being told we were 'very average,' and the insight we each felt when we realized we couldn't remember the 'last time I had heard my footsteps.'Competition, grace, breathing, and the wonderful insight that the point of maximum fear is the point of minimum danger. DCD speaks to Dr. Tim Gregory, nuclear scientist at Sellafield, the UK's national nuclear laboratory, and author of the best-selling book Going Nuclear, about the history of nuclear power, how it actually works, and whether it can play a key role in powering the growth of AI both in the UK and further afield.
STARMER vs BLAIR? Who was the best PM? #JonGaunt #JonGauntTV #Live #StarmerVsBlair #TonyBlair #KeirStarmer #UKPolitics #LabourParty #PrimeMinister STARMER vs BLAIR – Who Was the Better Prime Minister? | Today's live debate asks a blunt question: was Tony Blair a once-in-a-generation political talent – and is Keir Starmer his opposite? Tony Blair entered Downing Street in 1997 riding a wave of optimism, confidence, and cultural change. Cool Britannia, economic growth, falling unemployment, peace in Northern Ireland, and a sense that Britain was finally moving forward. Blair had an extraordinary political antenna — he understood public mood, knew how to frame policy, and sold change with optimism rather than fear. Even controversial ideas, from public service reform to ID cards, were presented as part of a broader national project. Keir Starmer, by contrast, has entered office as one of the most unpopular Prime Ministers in modern polling history, and his problems appear largely self-inflicted. From chaotic U-turns on the winter fuel allowance, to repeated failures to "stop the boats", Starmer's government has struggled not just with delivery — but with political judgement. Policies are announced, abandoned, and reframed, reinforcing claims that Starmer has a Midas touch in reverse: whatever he touches becomes politically toxic. On immigration, Blair embraced freedom of movement as part of a confident, outward-looking Britain, even if the long-term consequences were underestimated. Starmer talks tough on the small boats crisis, yet crossings continue and legal obstacles mount, with human rights law frequently cited as both a constraint and a shield. Critics argue he has managed to look authoritarian to liberals and ineffective to voters — the worst of both worlds. This debate will confront uncomfortable questions: Did Blair's optimism and presentation mask serious long-term flaws — or is that exactly what leadership requires? Has Starmer's focus on "hard choices" simply translated into constant bad news and broken promises? Are ideas like ID cards, once rejected under Blair, now being revived out of desperation rather than vision? Is Starmer a serious reformer — or a technocrat who lacks the political instincts needed to lead? Blair changed the national mood. Starmer reflects it. Ambition vs anxiety. Optimism vs apology. Political instinct vs political tin ear. TULLIA AND THE BIRTH OF THE REPUBLIC Colleague Emma Southon. Contrasting Lucretia is Tullia, a figure of female ambition and wickedness. Tullia conspires with her brother-in-law to murder their spouses and her own father, the king, even driving over his body. Her crimes and the subsequent assault on Lucretia by her son, Sextus, justify the overthrow of the monarchy. Brutus uses Lucretia's body to incite the revolution that establishes the Roman Republic. Musician Markéta Irglová has had a busy 2025, releasing a new album and touring with Glen Hansard under the name The Swell Season, a joint project that had been dormant for some years. The Czech-Irish pairing famously won an Oscar in 2007 for their song Falling Slowly. First recorded in a studio near Prague, it reached international audiences in Once, as well as a successful musical based on the hit low-budget film. After a full-band tour with The Swell Season earlier in the year, Irglová and Hansard returned to Czechia for a short series of intimate shows in late November. And it was then that I caught up with the former, who lives in Iceland, for a wide-ranging interview.
CLODIA'S PRIVILEGE AND CICERO'S AMBITION Colleague Douglas Boin. Boin introduces Clodia, a privileged woman from an ancient Roman family on Palatine Hill. He contrasts her aristocratic, independent nature—manifested in her name spelling—with the rise of Cicero, a talented outsider. Boin frames their eventual conflict as a clash between established power and ambitious newcomers. NUMBER 13

Doubt isn't protecting you from failure, it's protecting you from your feelings. For every ambitious person, doubt is the silent killer of greatness. Joe breaks down what he's learned from working with Silicon Valley's top performers: doubt isn't an intellectual problem, it's a misunderstood emotional signal. It's a protective mechanism to stop you from feeling something uncomfortable, whether it's a fear of failure or even a fear of success.

This episode originally aired on November 1st, 2023. Having the odds stacked against you doesn't mean giving up. Finding your path may be tough, but with hard work and determination, the possibilities are endless. Gary has held the record for the highest jury verdicts in numerous courthouses, including a staggering $125 million-dollar jury verdict in Ventura County in 2016. He went directly from high school to law school, never attending college. He put himself through a four-year night program while working at a law office, where he started as a file room clerk. Immediately after passing the bar, Mr. Dordick opened his own law firm, starting out with no employees. Now, Dordick Law Corporation has three locations, fifty-six employees, and eighteen lawyers, including his three kids, Michelle, Dylan, and Taylor, as associate lawyers. On this week's episode, Maria sits down with Gary Dordick as they discuss what it means to be healthy at 60, how he found his path through martial arts, working with his kids, and how he sees the future of law. Key takeaways College isn't everything. Not going to college doesn't mean not being successful. Carve your own path, learn from others, and take advantage of every opportunity. Don't spoil your kids. Even though you may want to give them everything you didn't have, it's ok to hold some things back. In this episode of Ambition 2.0, Amanda Goetz sits down with psychotherapist and Toxic Productivity author Israa Nasir to unpack why so many high-achieving women feel constantly behind, overwhelmed, and unable to rest—even when they're doing “everything right.” Israa explains how productivity often becomes a coping mechanism for shame, fear, and feeling “not good enough,” and why no system, planner, or habit hack can fix that. Together, they talk about the early warning signs of toxic productivity (including resentment and the phrase “I just need to get through next week”), how unhealed wounds show up at work through perfectionism and feedback sensitivity, and why rest isn't a reward—it's a requirement. They also talk about how convenience culture and “main character energy” are quietly eroding community, why boundaries shouldn't be rigid walls, and what it really takes to build a sustainable, values-aligned relationship with ambition. In this episode, you'll learn: Why productivity is often emotional avoidance, not motivation The earliest signs your productivity has turned toxic How reparenting shows up in your career (feedback, perfectionism, taking up space) The 7 types of rest (and no, scrolling doesn't count) Why convenience is costing us connection and how to build community again 00:00 Intro 04:17 When productivity becomes toxic 09:07 Reparenting at work 15:11 Boundaries 101 18:16 Hyper-optimizing “self-improvement” 26:21 Contentment vs complacency (and the “both/and” mindset) 28:06 The 7 types of rest 31:42 Convenience vs connection 38:28 Rapid-fire questions GUEST LINKS IG: https://www.instagram.com/well.guide/ Subscribe to Well Guide: https://israanasir.substack.com/ https://www.israanasir.com/ Read Toxic Productivity: https://bookshop.org/a/116169/9781962305358 FOLLOW THE PODCAST IG: https://www.instagram.com/girlboss/ | TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@girlboss Amanda Goetz: https://www.instagram.com/theamandagoetz/ https://girlboss.com/pages/ambition-2-0-podcast SIGN UP Subscribe to the Girlboss Daily newsletter: https://newsletter.girlboss.com/ For all other Girlboss links: https://linkin.bio/girlboss/ ABOUT AMBITION 2.0Powered by Girlboss, Ambition 2.0 is a podcast where we'll be exploring what it really means to “have it all” in work, family, identity, and self… and if it's actually worth it.

Welcome to the second part in Ceri¨s three part miniseries on planning an artist led event. This one's called planning the how turning intention into a structured, soulful artist led event. If you listened to Episode 1, you will remember that everything begins with clarity. The why. The what. Who it is for. What you want to learn. What you want to feel. That foundation changes everything. Without it, an artist-led event becomes a swirl of worry and last-minute decisions. With it, the whole thing becomes a living part of your practice. Today, we are stepping into the how. How to plan. How to prepare. How to build momentum. How to invite people. How to rehearse the event. How to gather feedback. How to set yourself up for sales if that is part of your goal. How to hold the energy of the night. We will continue following our two artists, Maya and Eli, because between them they cover so many of the scenarios that artists face. Performance plus sculpture. Painting plus small works on paper. Feedback plus sales. Ambition plus nerves. Limited budgets. Shared studios. Bigger dreams. Please join here - http://cerihand.com/membership/ KEY TAKEAWAYS You can´t roll straight from the studio into the event. Your work needs a staging environment, a context, a point of view. When planning and preparing an event you need to protect your energy. Block out time to relax as well as time for the event. These blocks create momentum. Holding a room is not about performance. It's about hospitality, and hospitality is an art in itself. BEST MOMENTS “Artists underestimate the mental load of planning. Something I teach all of my artist clients, to create a planning container.” “The order in which you invite people matters. So, step one, warm your warmest people. These are the people who are most likely to say yes.” “For Ellie, her feedback comes in the form of behaviour, which paintings people stand longest in front of which works on paper people touch which price points get interest.” PODCAST HOST BIO With over 35 years in the art world, Ceri has worked closely with leading artists and arts professionals, managed public and private galleries and charities, and curated more than 250 exhibitions and events. If you're the kind of girl whose mind never shuts off — always planning, overthinking, striving, and chasing the next thing — this episode is for you.In today's episode of For You From Eve, we're talking about slow living for fast-minded girls. Not the aesthetic version of slow living, but the real, grounded kind that helps you regulate your nervous system, find presence in your day, and stop feeling like you're constantly behind — even when you're doing everything “right.”We'll talk about why ambitious women struggle so much with rest, how hustle culture wired us to feel guilty for slowing down, and how you can soften your internal pace without giving up on your goals. Because slowing down doesn't mean you stop growing — it means you stop burning yourself out on the way there. This episode is your reminder that rest is not laziness, calm is not weakness, and slow living is a skill you can learn — even with a fast, driven mind.

Dana sits down with Leah Remillet to tackle the guilt and hesitation that stops moms from pursuing their business dreams. From the gender gap in confidence (men apply for jobs at 60% qualified, women wait for 100%) to the damaging cultural myth that good mothers must sacrifice everything, Leah shares why that persistent business idea on your heart isn't accidental, it found you because you're meant to act on it. She reveals the truth about successful mom entrepreneurs: they don't do everything alone, they build systems that create freedom, and they bring their kids into the journey instead of hiding their ambitions. You don't need perfect credentials or the ideal setup to start building a business, you just need to stop waiting for permission that will never come and take action before that dream finds someone else who will. "Money is one of those things that people just consider as an afterthought. The older you get and the more responsibilities you have, you start to realize money is a tool, and it's required for health and happiness." In this episode, Heather sits down with Douglas and Heather Boneparth to dig into the often uncomfortable but wholly necessary work of talking about finances with your partner. Together, they unpack what really happens beneath the surface when couples avoid money conversations, and how bringing these truths forward can transform the intimacy, teamwork, and emotional safety in your relationship. Explore the stories we inherit around money, why it feels so vulnerable to speak up, and the simple shifts that help you feel like you're on the same team again. What to listen for: ✨ Money is not an afterthought; it's a tool for cultivating health and happiness ✨ How Douglas and Heather first understood that they needed to talk about money ✨ Overcoming the fear of speaking up with your partner about finances "You're communicating even when you're not communicating. Your body language, your actions, and the way that you're passive-aggressive about it. You're just failing to say the thing that needs to be said." ✨ Opening the door to teamwork and shared responsibility in your relationship ✨ Letting go of the "Prince Charming is going to save me" and taking ownership ✨ The importance of acknowledging the impact partners have on one another "The collective ambition needs to come to life here because you share a life together. You still get to be your own person, but you're playing a team game. Championships are won through team efforts, and this is what collaboration is all about. Your marriage is essentially a collaboration of life, and money is this game that you don't get to opt out of." ✨ Why freedom is emotionally uncomfortable and how to navigate that ✨ The question Douglas and Heather ask every couple to bring them together ✨ The power of energetic time management and chasing the feeling you're after "It's not the thing you want, it's the feeling. You say you want more money, more accolades, another book, this, this, this. Amazing. Take it. But what's the feeling you're after?" ✨ The importance of valuing the journey as much as you value the end goal ✨ Benchmarking your money goals and navigating the resistance that comes up ✨ Understanding that intimacy is directly connected to your financial health About Douglas and Heather Boneparth: Heather and Douglas Boneparth are the co-authors of Money Together: How to find fairness in your relationship and become an unstoppable financial team. In this episode of Ambition 2.0, host Amanda Goetz sits down with Starbucks' Global Chief Brand Officer Tressie Lieberman to talk about the path that led her through some of the biggest brands in marketing (Pizza Hut → Taco Bell → Chipotle → Yahoo → Starbucks), the mentors who changed her trajectory, and the family system that makes it possible: a true partnership where her husband is the stay-at-home parent. They get tactical about how to divide the cognitive load, why “Sunday check-ins” are a non-negotiable, and how to navigate the social friction that still shows up when you flip traditional gender roles. In this episode, you'll learn: How Tressie went from aiming for “the next level” to owning the CMO path—and what made that shift happen Why curiosity (and doing “the little extra things”) is key in your career How to build a partnership that's equitable, not score-keeping The practical systems that reduce mental load at home How to handle judgment, weird school dynamics, and “default parent” assumptions when dad stays home If you're building an ambitious life—and want a relationship that can grow with it—this episode is a must listen. 00:00 Intro 02:53 The mindset shift that set Tressie's sights beyond “the next level” 04:02 The mentors who opened doors (including reverse mentoring a CEO) 05:36 How to stand out early: curiosity, doing extra, and teaching what's next 06:49 Advocating for yourself in executive rooms (and getting over FOE: fear of executives) 09:10 How they chose a stay-at-home partner dynamic 13:59 The at-home teamwork: check-ins, trade-offs, and letting go of perfection and control 17:45 Keeping the marriage strong: date nights, boundaries, and “one blended life” 32:45 Rapid fire: Sunday rituals, go-to Starbucks order, and ideal partnership in one word GUEST LINKS LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tressielieberman/ FOLLOW THE PODCAST IG: https://www.instagram.com/girlboss/ | TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@girlboss Amanda Goetz: https://www.instagram.com/theamandagoetz/ https://girlboss.com/pages/ambition-2-0-podcast SIGN UP Subscribe to the Girlboss Daily newsletter: https://newsletter.girlboss.com/ For all other Girlboss links: https://linkin.bio/girlboss/ ABOUT AMBITION 2.0 Powered by Girlboss, Ambition 2.0 is a podcast where we'll be exploring what it really means to “have it all” in work, family, identity, and self… and if it's actually worth it. Rutger Bregman is a Dutch historian, bestselling author, and the guy who went viral telling Davos billionaires to pay their taxes. This conversation is a salve for the crisis of meaning percolating through modern life. We explore Rutger's pragmatic antidote—moral ambition—and discuss why a quarter of workers believe their jobs are socially useless, what the abolitionists teach us about coalition-building, and why factory farming may be the ethical abomination future historians judge us for most harshly. Rutger's conviction is rare and infectious. By the end of our conversation, I was so inspired that I committed $25K to his organization's new US Food System Reform Program, a cause area that is deeply important to me. Final Note: Through December 31st, every dollar to moralambition.org/food is matched. I hope you'll consider joining me today in making a donation to this impactful organization. See the links in our newsletter, on our website, and in our Substack. Let's lean into our own moral ambition and do something truly meaningful, together. Day 1,390.Today, after another weekend of intense diplomatic activity, we take you to Berlin, where President Zelensky is meeting the American delegation – joined by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz – as Europe seeks to reassert itself in the peace process. We also examine the surge in military activity over the weekend, which saw multiple cities plunged into blackout, before turning to Germany's rapidly evolving position, where comparisons are increasingly being drawn between today and the events that sparked the Second World War.ContributorsFrancis Dearnley (Executive Editor for Audio). @FrancisDearnley on X.Dominic Nicholls (Associate Editor of Defence). @DomNicholls on X.James Rothwell (Berlin Correspondent). @JamesERothwell on X.SIGN UP TO THE ‘UKRAINE: THE LATEST' WEEKLY NEWSLETTER:http://telegraph.co.uk/ukrainenewsletter Each week, Dom Nicholls and Francis Dearnley answer your questions, provide recommended reading, and give exclusive analysis and behind-the-scenes insights – plus maps of the frontlines and diagrams of weapons to complement our daily reporting.
