Caitlin and Teresa had forgotten how many times they'd said "We should start a podcast for 'The Raven Cycle'"...so they did!
Finally here wrapping up The Raven King! Gansey gets his king, Blue gets her kiss, Adam gets autonomy, Ronan gets to dream, and Henry gets to join the Gangsey: Road Rules Challenge. Your hosts get wrecked emotionally, but (spoiler alert) liked the ending more than they thought they would? Maybe? Listen to find out. Grab your super dead Welsh King and let’s roll!
This is a podcast for truth, you guys. A lot of stuff is happening in this book. So much stuff! We’re honestly confused about a lot of it but ADAM PARRISH AND RONAN LYNCH TOTALLY KISSED and it’s all we really care about, to be quite honest. Other stuff--Gansey gives relationship advice, Blue saves the day, Henry meets the Grey Man, and Piper kills Gwenllian’s (alleged) mother Neeve (???). Grab your happy ball of light and let’s roll!
It’s date night in Henrietta and it’s creepier than you could ever imagine. Adam and Ronan go for a drive of scrying and sexual tension. Maura and the Grey Man are ghost hunting. Gansey and Blue party in togas with King Henry and the Vancouver crowd. Piper Greenmantle has a date with a demon and Neeve doesn’t get to be the third wheel. Henry and Gansey get friendly in a hole in the ground, which somehow isn’t a euphemism. Grab your most scandalous bed sheet and join us!
Depending on where you begin this story, it’s about Caitlin and Teresa's complicated feelings for The Raven King. Book four opens with psychic pep talks, the rise of Henry Cheng, the fall of Cabeswater, and Blue’s heartwarming journey into juvenile delinquency. Orphan Girl steals our hearts and borrows Adam’s watch. Body horror, cabinet dwellers, furtive glances in Suburbans—this book truly has everything. Come join us in the bathtub— the water’s magical!
Bring your switchblade and your hankie— our coverage of “Blue Lily, Lily Blue” comes to a bloody and teary end. There’s a tragedy of bones, a heart-felt mix tape, a found family reunited, a Piper ascending and some Blue Sargent mirror magical ass-kicking. Pull up a rocking chair and a cherry coke and join us! Short way’s across the field.
It's episode 12 and "Blue Lily, Lily Blue" is rapidly coming to a close! In this episode, Gansey has a crisis when things don't live up to his #aesthetic, Adam and Ronan go on a grocery store date (aka THE BEST KIND OF DATE), and we cry for the millionth time over the courtroom scene. Seriously, we cry on mic. It's very embarrassing but we regret nothing! Dust off your doggy yellow sweater and listen in!
After a brief interruption by life, we're back with episode 11! JESSE DITTLEY is introduced and we bask in his all-caps Henrietta charm, the Greenmantles decide to take up spelunking, and so many secrets are revealed, from Matthew's origin story to who exactly is on the St. Mark's Eve watch list. Plus, we recap our time at Maggie's Seven Sentences writing workshop, what we learned, and how we kept our fangirling (mostly) to a minimum. Check the bacon symbol on the car and let's ride!
You guys, our prayers and Tumblr posts have been answered: "The Raven Cycle" rights were bought and we're getting a TV pilot!...maybe? We unpack the official press release, vet the executive producers, and discuss best and worst case scenarios for our beloved series. There's a lot of wild speculation and shrug emojis happening, so have your people call our people and let's discuss!
We're kicking off our coverage of "Blue Lily, Lily Blue" and there is no chill to be had! From fingertip touching to dreaming straight teeth, these kids are dizzy with spring fever and it shows. Spiral with us over yogurt spoons, late-night apartment visits, and strategically placed flower petals. Plus we meet the queen of queens, Piper Greenmantle. Go underground with us, but careful not to wake the third sleeper!
We're finally back! How long has it been? Who knows, because time is circular! This episode concludes "The Dream Thieves" and, no surprise, we have a lot of feelings about it. Niall and Ronan have a catch, Field-of-Dreams style, Adam gets the best internship ever with Persephone, and we get to the bottom of Yacht Rock. Hop on this flying dream dragon and watch the fireworks with us! Adam and Persephone fanart: http://jollylines.tumblr.com/post/144982375148/tarot-lesson-so-im-in-love-with-the-raven-cycle
As a new year begins, "The Dream Thieves" is winding down! In episode 8, we discuss our new favorite fancasts, how you solve a problem like a missing Adam Parrish, and we go quiet as we read our first quiet car ride with Gansey and Blue (literally, we forget that we're supposed to be talking at one point). Hop in the Pig and enjoy this view of Henrietta with us!
We're back after a NaNoWriMo-inspired hiatus! In this episode, we discuss what kind of hostess gift you bring to a Kavinsky party, first dates and first kisses, and we log the first entry in a long series of "Caitlin and Teresa are Terrible Readers". Meet us at the abandoned fairgrounds and let's discuss! PRODUCTION NOTE: This episode was recorded before we knew that we lost our original episode 6. We refer to a couple things from that episode that unfortunately never got to see the light of day. Sorry for the occasional confusion!
After some unforeseen technical difficulties (LOOKING AT YOU, GARAGEBAND), we're back with episode 6! There's a thirst sweeping Henrietta, and no one is immune, from teenagers in a boat to single moms and hitmen. We travel to the Barns for the first time, discuss who we'd want in a fight against a night horror, and discover Gansey's personal hero and inspiration: Bruce Springsteen. Dive into this questionable lake water with us and let's go!
We've made it to The Dream Thieves! In this episode, we discuss how we actually feel bad for Declan (what?!), the rules of dream thieving, and that awkward moment when your sort-of girlfriend still won't kiss you. Plus, we meet an Anglo-Saxon verse scholar and find out what a street-racing menace looks like without a Gansey in their life. Hop in the champagne-colored rental car and join us!
And just like that, we're wrapping up "The Raven Boys"! Gansey picks up Adam from the hospital while we check ourselves in because PAIN, Maura offers sage parental advice that we probably shouldn't listen to, and we learn the fate of Barrington "I Know The Guacamole's Extra" Whelk. The first book is ending, but everything else is just starting!
In episode 3, we discuss who exactly is responsible for Ronan, group hangs at Monmouth, who should direct the TV adaptation (call us, Netflix!), and there's a lot of anguished sighing over the scene at the trailer park. Meet us in the car garage and let's go! The Gangsey as Disney characters: http://maggie-stiefvater.tumblr.com/post/128270883396/if-the-five-main-trc-characters-were-disney
It's episode 2! Blue gets flowers and we have feelings about it. We meet Helen Gansey and lament the fact that we can't be best friends with a fictional character(even if she has terrible taste in plates). Plus we write the Hawaiian!AU that we never knew we needed. Join us in this helicopter we happen to have lying around and discuss!
Join us as we dive into Book 1 to discuss our cast of unreliable narrators, disastrous meet cutes, and how much we know about Welsh kings (not a lot).
