We examine the dynamic relationship between Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, and Hekate in her role as Propolos—“the Guide” or “She Who Leads.” Emphasis is placed on Hekate's liminal function at thresholds and crossroads, and how her guidance is needed to assist the Queen of the Underworld during rites of passage, seasonal transitions, and initiatory mysteries. These two goddesses are tied so closely together and is a piece that is missing in modern depictions of Hekate and the mass amount of misinformation around this ancient goddess.Chapters: Intro: (0:00)New Hekate items in the temple!: (2:42)More Hera + Hekate content on members only: (5:55)Hekate Propolos and Persephone: (10:39)Persephone and Hekate appropriation and taken out of their context: (29:35)Join our extra members for more content around ancient greek religion, mythology and more!Check out our shop, services and classes below:https://beacons.ai/styxandbonessFOLLOW STYX AND BONES ON SOCIAL MEDIAhttps://www.instagram.com/styxandbonespodcasthttps://www.instagram.com/styxandbonestemplehttps://www.tiktok.com/@styxandbonestemple FOLLOW HIGH PRIESTESS CHELSEAhttps://www.instagram.com/highpriestesschelseahttps://www.tiktok.com/@highpriestesschelseaFOLLOW DR. So, in honour of these celebrations and folk figures, we turn to the Welsh Mabinogion, a collection of stories from the 12th-13th centuries. Our first story is the abduction of Creiddylad and our second is the creation of the flower queen, Blodeuwedd.  Show notes can be found on our website at: www.talesfromtheenchantedforest.com You can also find us on: Bluesky Mastodon Instagram   TikTok

Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics April 28th - May 4th 2025. Last week was a quiet mixed bag. It asked for calm, grounding and spiritual hygiene...while it had free reign to serve up simple pleasures or call outs. Did you prioritize your self care? Last week did you: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs Listen to 1 NEW episode on The Magic Spark Watch the New Moon Tarot Reading in the UWS member Library This week is full of goodies...with heat. This week: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs Listen to 2 NEW episode on The Magic Spark Cast a spell for your career or money by EOD Wednesday Monday, April 28th: - Happy Mo(o)nday. All planets are direct this week till Sunday. Please, my loves, make it count. It won't happen again this year. This is our last 'all direct' moment. Whatever to-do list you have (without freaking out and overly stressing) get as much done as you can. Within this window of the New Moon in Taurus it is massively to the benefit of your resources (time, money, energy, body, mind, and soul) to do so. This week our elemental count shifts. The Fire of it all bumps up to 5, with a whopping 4 in Aries. Tempers could flare or your personal fire could finally blaze and have your heart, energy, and creativity coming back online! Venus is also doing a lot this week, so continue to give her focus on your altar and in your Energy Healings (tapping & shaking). We want her blessing us, not pressing us. - Day 1 of Stable New Moon #2 -You'll need a yoga strap and a set of yoga blocks for this constructive rest series. We're still in constructive rest under this new moon. Mobility and flexibility is the vibe. You'll see a focus on shoulders (new stressors in your life), spinal rotations for detox, psoas openers (emotional storage units of the body), and A juicy constructive rest to close. Tuesday, April 29th: - Watch Zodiac Basics: Taurus if you're craving a deeper dive into Taurus energies. Tis the season. It's the moon, the season, and we all have it in our chart somewhere. You'll find it in the astrology section of your Unicorn Wellness Studio member library. Wednesday, April 30th: -EP 131 on The Magic Spark Uranus is doing something of note this week and the Uranian energy will become more distinct as we move towards August. It's a big energy, it's disruptive, and can be magical. So I'm sharing a piece of content I created for Magical Mentees in the fall session. You're going to want to explore this. And it just might take a couple of listens to prep for the amplification of Uranian energy in August. It's a mini master class. - Last day of New Moon Energy. Continue to lean into the quiet of it all. Rest, replenish, cast a spell because what you plant in a Taurus new moon has got roots to provide for the long haul. It's especially good for career and money magick. - Venus enters Aries. We like her here. We do. She's blunt and quick and ok to burn something down to get to what she really desires. There's no mincing words in this phase. There is clarity and no b.s. It may feel like somehow if you're not used to receiving a fem vibe with clear boundaries and no room for negotiations. Thursday, May 1st: - Uranus Sextile True Node. A sextile in astrology is always considered a benefit. This collective transit offers us lessons that have us breaking up with tradition in any and all ways. Think internalized patriarchy be gone, binaries AWAY! Proper path, boxes, and 'right ways' to do things are banished and simply will no longer work. - Day 1 of Stable Classic - No props needed for this workout. We're brewing magic in our pelvic bowl with sufi rolls, full deep core, corkscrew, reverse plank, side plank...strength and stability training...swan, rolling plank, and puppy. This is a well crafted tiny & mighty series. Friday, May 2nd: - Venus conjunct Neptune. This one is going to call in themes of romantic relationships. Either a rebirth of romanticism, a new love of some kind, or an obsession with the love you don't currently have access to. We simply have to witness how it plays out and work with what roles through...but please remember Venus is not just amorous love, it's finances and general pleasure, and Neptune is dreams and delusions. This could be work or finance related. - Aphrodite's Day. It's time to ask: What does my inner goddess need in order to remember she is sacred, divine, and designed to receive? Take the rest. Eat the chocolate. Put your hand on your heart, breathe deeply, wear red lipstick. Demand attention from yourself. Light yourself on fire today. Saturday, May 3rd: Breathe, meditate, drink water, eat vegetables, get on the mat. Sunday, May 4th: - Pluto stations Retrograde. This little guy was all the topic not so long ago. Pluto finally moved into Aquarius after being in Capricorn 16 years. Pluto will station today and be retrograde through October 13th. This will pull us all in again in terms of cathartic change. Emotionally it might feel like it in its capacity to affect positive change/growth. "What will move me/us into the future? I have no emotional attachment to the solve...but I am deeply attached to solving." - Day 1 of Stable Building Blocks - You'll need a set of yoga blocks (cork preferred) for this workout. We're back to giving attention to shoulder health and stability (new daily stressors), classical pilates mat with a splash of weird. - Your weekly mantra: Venus, Venus, Aphrodite, goddess of love and finances I clear a place for you at the table. In fact I clear the entire table for you. The table is yours. It belongs to you. Eat and serve My appetite is big and I am ready to feed. Um, yeah, sorry I think you missed me by quite a bit. I haven't been in L.A. for almost a year. Is that right? Jesus. More than. God, more than a year. Time really flies when you're driving around the country aimlessly. Time really crawls when you're still trying to navigate a relationship with somebody that you have to make work because they're the only other person in the world. That's not fair. I want to make it work. I, I, I do. I just. I still don't know what to do. I still don't know how to build a future. I don't know if I should be like you and keep searching for answers, keep searching for other people, or if I should just cut my losses, be grateful for what I have, and settle down. Maybe it's not about having a plan. Maybe it's just about finding little moments that you can...We, um, we found a working jukebox the other day in an old diner and spent, like, an hour and a half playing every song we could and just dancing. And it was, it felt so good, you know, to hold Harry in my arms like that. To watch her laugh. To hear her sing. To get to spin her around in the middle of a diner. A place I never would have been able to do that. Yeah. But it was also bittersweet because you know, the places where I would have taken her dancing, we had friends there, community, and...I've danced with lots of women at those places, but never someone that I really loved. And I really want to. Um, but, um, yeah, I'm not, I'm not in LA anymore. Um, but if, if you are, um, and you're looking for a working jukebox, there is one in Los Feliz at the, um, oh, that, the, the pie place, um, on Vermont. Yeah, I, so if you... If you're still there and that jukebox is working, tell me because I don't know, maybe that'll be a sign of something. Maybe that'll mean that we can actually find each other or maybe it just means that that jukebox works in every universe. Um, but. Either way, let me know.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this soul-stirring episode, we journey beyond the Easter we know today and into the ancient, feminine roots. Long before chocolate eggs and Sunday services, cultures around the world honored the Earth's reawakening in alignment with Goddess traditions - Eostre, Ishtar, Inanna, and hundreds of others - who embodied life itself, renewal, fertility, the sacred power of the body, and the great turning of the seasons. We'll explore the mythic origins of Easter, before Christianity, the rise and fall of Goddess Cultures, the symbolic significance of Spring, underworld journeys and how they show up in our lives, as well as what it means to reclaim the sacred feminine in a modern world. This episode is both a remembrance and a reclamation, a call to akaen the goddess that lives within all of us and listen for the song of the Earth as she rises again into a new cycle of life and fertility. In this episode you'll hear:00:22 - Introduction 03:15 - Grounding Practice04:32 - A Peek Into Ancient Goddess Cultures 07:07 - Every Woman Carries The Echoes of the Goddess07:39 - Feminine Rites of Passage08:23 - The Destruction of Goddess Traditions11:35 - Christianity's Co-Opting of Ancient Celebrations 12:45 - Why Eggs + Bunnies Represent Easter14:03 - What Easter Was Really About15:25 - The Goddesses of Rebirth: Ishtar, Oestre, Inanna, Persephone, and More17:52 - Death and Rebirth Stories Have Always Been A Part of Human Consciousness18:19 - The Story of Inanna's Descent Into The Underworld27:51 - The Three Stages of a Rite of Passage and How They Show Up In Our Lives As Women and Mothers31:19 - Rites of Passage as a Part of Female Biology and How Our Feminine Cycles Mirror The Cycles of Nature33:27 - The Ancient Symbols of Easter: Eggs, Hares, Water, + Fire40:06 - May We Remember: A Wish For Us All at the Turning of Spring40:50 - Closing Meditation: Awakening The Goddess Within Send me a text! Basic Folk is making trouble at sea with Ani DiFranco and Carsie Blanton! Hosts Lizzie and Cindy had the opportunity to speak with the two like-minded radical songwriters aboard the 2025 edition of Cayamo, a roots music cruise. Our conversation kicks off with Ani sharing her transformative experience performing as Persephone in the Broadway show 'Hadestown,' delving into the challenges of acting and the lessons learned from stepping outside her musical comfort zone. We navigate through Ani's journey of independence, discussing 'Unprecedented Sh!t,' her first album with a producer besides herself in 23 years – BJ Burton – and what it means to relinquish control in the creative process. In Ani's memoir, 'No Walls and the Recurring Dream,' she writes about how her creativity is aligned with her menstrual cycle. She described the most creative part of her cycle as "THE WINDOW." Cindy asked all three artists onstage to reflect on how their creativity relates to their periods. What resulted was a discussion on how creativity is impacted by not only menstrual cycles, but menopause and ovulation and how that has evolved over time. The conversation also touches on the significance of hair as a form of self-expression and how societal perceptions of women change with their appearances.Ani and Carsie speak to the power of songwriting in addressing historical and political issues, emphasizing the importance of music as part of a larger movement for justice. They share insights on the necessity of community and collaboration among artists in a challenging industry, encouraging listeners to find strength in solidarity rather than competition. To wrap up, they reminisce about their parallel wild, youthful experiences and how those versions of themselves continue to influence their art today. As Ani had to leave the stage early, Carsie brought it home with an Ani DiFranco-theme lightning round.Follow Basic Folk on social media: https://basicfolk.bio.link/Sign up for Basic Folk's newsletter: https://bit.ly/basicfolknewsHelp produce Basic Folk by contributing: https://basicfolk.com/donate/Interested in sponsoring us? Send us a textJoining me on today's episode of The English Wine Diaries is Sibylla Tindale, co-founder of High Clandon Estate in the heart of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sibylla and her husband, Bruce, founded the boutique vineyard, which sits on a chalky-limestone hill, 20 years ago with the aim of producing only aged vintage sparkling wine to rival – and even surpass – the best that France can offer. Each year the Tindales, who are originally from South Africa, celebrate the launch of their exquisite Cuvées with their flagship event: Art & Sculptures in the Vineyard – a summer exhibition of pieces dotted amongst their beautiful gardens, wildflower meadows, vineyard and atmospheric Glass Barn.  But as well as being renowned for its English Sparkling Wine, High Clandon has another claim to its name – recently, the trained noses of the Tindale's cocker spaniels Persephone and Juno, have snuffled out black Perigord truffles on the estate – the first find in the south of England and thought to be the second such in England as a whole, the other being at the late Duke of Edinburgh's estate at Sandringham in 2018. Find out more about their adventures at highclandon.co.uk or by following @highclandon on Instagram. With thanks to our series sponsor, Wickhams, The Great British Wine Merchant. May you have the courage to stand in your own knowing.May you find the grace to let go of striving for perfection, and instead embrace the sacredness of your imperfect, human journey.May luminous moments of optimism and possibility guide you, even as you move through gray times of despair and doubt.May you have the wisdom to choose differently, to prioritize what truly matters, creating a legacy that lingers. May you always find solace in the holy ground beneath your feet, the sacred presence that dwells within and all around you.Shine your light, dear one, your small, precious gifts are needed in this world.Happy Spring Equinox! I hope you are enjoying a gentle leap into a new season. Our own weather has been erratic and wild, including nearby tornadoes that wreaked havoc on our town. And, then, today, as I work on the newsletter, sporadic power outages at our house cutting off my internet. As such, this newsletter will be a little shorter than usual with only a brief audio edition. I've gotten very off schedule this week! Our shop update today is an eclectic one, featuring assorted divine imperfections, “Luna” one-of-a-kind goddesses, and some red winged Nemesis goddesses (by customer request). We also still have assorted goddesses in our very special spring pigment—a beautiful lilac with small flowers. We are using this pigment to honor Áine, the Irish Fairy Queen, who is this year's featured goddess at Gaea Goddess Gathering. We do know that she is a summertime goddess, but we felt like this pigment was an excellent match for the spring equinox/Ostara and our month of Persephone as well, so we went forward with it!This week's magic:* 8 minute video: beholding delight.Resource Reminders:* New free series: An Introduction to Goddess Studies* 1. getting started* 2. printable journal* 3. affirmation card set* 4. portable altar space* 5. introduction to thealogy* 6. influential authors in goddess studies* 7. audio retreat: spots of time (note: publishing Saturday)Blog Posts:* Ritual Reading for Spring Equinox (A Spring Ritual of Returning)* Clarity and the CrossroadsBeholding DelightReminder: Let us be open to delight. This week, Alicia invited Alicia King Anderson Ph.D. to talk all things Persephone and Hades, the Queen and King of the Underworld. We unpack the myth of this royal couple down below. How does a young girl, Kore, complete the transformation into Persephone? Who is Hades and why is he messing with his niece, Kore? How does the whole snatching of the beautiful maiden go down, and what happens in the Underworld? It's a story with complicated supernatural family ties, a kidnapping, a mother's grief, famine, a marriage, and - big headline - the introduction of seasons into the human world. And this myth was a foundational piece of the Eleusinian Mysteries, which helped initiates of the cult of Demeter and Persephone abandon their fear of death. Part of the dodekatheon (Cult of the 12 Olympians) local to Thessaly, she seems to clearly have a function related to protecting the household, and her own epithets suggest that she is a deity connected to cities rather than rural dwellings. We look at her relationship to the other goddesses she is connected with and visit the question of why protective deities like Enodia seemed to suddenly gain popularity in the late 6th to 5th century BCE.

Hekate is a titan goddess blessed by Zeus. What better way to gain a god's favor than by assisting another goddess in the search for her kidnapped daughter? This Sunday, join Liv as she shares the retelling of Homer's Hymn to Demeter, which narrates the abduction of Persephone, the goddess of Spring, by Hades, the God of the Underworld. As with many spiritual interpretations, the context of our times influences how we extract wisdom from ancient mythologies. It's no surprise that contemporary views on Persephone's descent into the underworld to wed her uncle have led to significant modern and literal interpretations.
